It looks really good and I hope it turns out well! My only concern is that a book with 35000-ish words in it has 10,000-ish given over to one article by one person (don't like it? Third of the book gone to waste), but that's probably just me.

I already own a couple of similar books in Japanese, but it is nice to see English fans finally getting something worthwhile :)

Shame I don't know anything that's actually useful eh?  ;D

My personal favourite, especially as it helps with the pronunciation, is that "Ys" was a mythical European city - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ys

Another is that the names of PSO's mags are all religious references. A few examples -

I've been trying out Sega's iOS fantasy-brawler-RPG-thingy Gentou Senki Griffon - it's pretty good so far!

Unless you already have the  equipment you need (soldering iron, etc) and working spare parts to hand then no. It's won't work out cheaper and Saturns of any kind aren't difficult or expensive to buy so it's not as if you're preserving rare hardware either.

No harm done :)

I think "hate" is a bit strong but if my only other option is "love"... :)

Too much backtracking for my tastes, especially when they give you a nice dot-to-dot world map... then force you to walk through every dungeon you've already done just to reach the next place you're meant to go to anyway. Characters/story were also nothing to write home about in my book, and the game wasn't charming enough for it to not matter. On a system with so many brilliant RPGs no matter where you're from I don't think LoD matches up.

Just to confirm/clarify - I'm British, female, and I live in the UK :)

Welcome to the site flatapex :)

You don't want Last Blade or the Cardfighters Clash games? :O

I think the NGPC suffers a bit for being an SNK device - everyone looks out for the beat 'em ups and Metal Slug but it's got some good RPGs in English and there's a surprising amount of variety on import (I was playing Densha de GO! 2 on mine yesterday!) :D

Ooh if we're going to take pie-in-the-sky top tens I'd have to stick Eliminate Down on there somewhere :)

Almost all of my games come from Japanese or Chinese sellers, either through eBay or websites like Play-Asia. I won't lie to you and say I've never had a problem, but I can honestly say that I've been doing this for at least a decade now and I've had no more problems with overseas mail than I have with domestic shipping. Check the listing carefully, buy from sellers with good, recent, feedback and do your research before making a bid - easy!

I remember being huddled around the Amiga with my brother and my cousins playing it :D What made the mummy game so scary for me (IIRC, that is), is that you could see it moving around on the minimap they gave you, and that green goop that sometimes appeared on the rocks meant you were near a pitfall trap. Lots of tension there for a kids game if you ask me! :D

(Yes, I am scarred by a Duck Tales game  ;D )

I used to play the Amiga version of Duck Tales as a kid - that mummy game still gives me the creeps :S

I have an Amiga 500 set up about 6ft away from me :)

I also buy PC-98/X68000/MSX/PC-88 games as often as I can find them/afford them, but I play those using an emulator, or failing that I just buy them digitally off the excellent Project EGG :)

Ooh forgot the other big game I'm playing at the minute - a Chinese RPG called Gu Jian Qi Tan 2. It's basically everything I love about RPGs (Chinese or otherwise) in one big, beautiful package.

(Do tell me if I'm posting too many screenshots, I don't want to be a bother)
