I can barely justify paying more than $60, let alone $100 for a game.

Started off the month by finally acquiring a PS5 (the disc version).

Admittedly, it'll probably see the least use of the 3 consoles, but it's good to not have to worry about exclusivity anymore, and now I've got to finally get around to building that bigger TV stand so everything fits nice in there.

Probably the "goodies" I've gotten to take home from working retail. I've got a handful of discs meant for Gamecube, 360, and PSP retail kiosk displays, a promotional standee advertising the upcoming Nintendo Switch, and a floor shipper for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Even got to take home the entire Xbox 360 retail display itself, but I had to get rid of it because of space issues.

I'm just happy Advance Wars finally got a release date.

For me, the feeling of going from the One to a Series S to a Series X felt just like upgrading my PC. While everything functions identically, it also all just runs better. Games loaded faster, ran smoother, and downloaded and installed faster. Fallout 4 was one of the most notable examples where on my One, I could be at a loading screen for up to a minute where on the X, the longest was about 3-4 seconds.

At one point I had about 50 Xbox 360 games before I had a 360.

Main reason for that though was because one of my friends had gotten one, but needed to hide it from his mom who was in a "video games will ruin your life!" phase. So, he hid it at my place, which I really had no problem with. And since I had easy access to a 360, I figured I might as well get some games for it. Also around that time, I had gotten a job for the first time, and with unfettered access to disposable income, I went a little overboard with purchasing games and the collection exploded.

A bad game is only better than a mediocre one when you can razz it MST3K style with friends.

Sorting things by console, my rarest for each system would be:

Game Boy: Disney's Mulan - 17 owners
Game Boy Color: Tie between Bob the Builder: Fix It Fun & Toy Story Racer - 15
GBA: Dead To Rights: 13 Owners
DS: Tie between Littlest Pet Shop 3: Biggest Stars: Blue Team & My Secret Diary - 3
3DS: Metal Fight Beyblade: 4D x Zero-G Ultimate Tournament [JP]- Just me
SNES: Nolan Ryan's Baseball - 37
N64: Mario Party 3 [JP] - 42
Gamecube: Evolution Skateboarding - 29
Wii: Bratz: The Movie - 11
Wii U: Family Party: 30 Great Games Obstacle Arcade - 53
Switch: Time Management Game Collection - 9
PS4: Bibi & Tina at the Horse Farm - 5
Xbox: Codename: Kids Next Door: Operation V.I.D.E.O.G.A.M.E. - 24
Xbox 360: NBA 2K13 - Dynasty Edition - Just Me
Xbox One: Paw Patrol: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay - Just Me

Biggest thing I noticed flipping through things is that users here by and large really tend to avoid games that are tie-ins to kids shows/movies and games targeting girls. While with me, I revel in them; It's just too amusing having them in my collection as well as on my gamertag. Having the full 1000G in Monster High: New Ghoul in School is a badge of honor, not shame.

I love adding garbage shovelware into the collection. I have no idea why it amuses me so.

GCN:
Sea World Presents Shamu's Deep Sea Adventure

Wii:
Shrek's Carnival Craze: Party Games
Water Sports

360:
Just Dance 2016
Karaoke Revolution Presents American Idol Encore

Only downside to the digital copies for the 360/One/Series S|X is that since they are just digital versions of the original games, online multiplayer does not work anymore (can still do LAN play however), and the DLC for II is unobtainable because of Live being shut down for the Original Xbox. The DLC being lost is the biggest pity as that pack added 4 maps from the first game, 2 heroes (Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress), and allowed you to play the heroes only mode on many more maps.

Quote
I always have trouble seeing the enemies onscreen,
In the game settings (for II at least), there is an option called display enemy icons. Turning that on will put an icon over the head of any enemy on your screen.

That Captain America game is surprisingly good!

I've found that all of the MCU games from the 360/PS3 Generation I've played have been pretty solid titles for being tie-ins. Captain America's been a harder one to get at a lower price though as it's a game that was in demand for achievement hunters, which kept it from ever going full bargain bin. Though, with the current gen's influx of visual novels and shovelware, the game's status as a quick completion has most certainly diminished since its heyday.

After a good, long while, I finally had a craving to get some older, random stuff added to the collection

DS:
Scripps Spelling Bee

Wii:
Glacier 2
The Island of Dr. Frankenstein

360:
Captain America: Super Soldier
Dragon's Dogma
Happy Feet 2
Ice Age Continental Drift: Arctic Games
Moto GP '06
Snoopy's Grand Adventure

Too many to count. I'm honestly extremely grateful that most of my collection was purchased pre-2020, some of the stuff I own would be impossible for me to purchase now.

Yep, when prices exploded, it became harder and harder to justify adding to the retro collection, especially when prices surged past that of current-gen new releases. It's almost surreal seeing the current prices of games I fished out from the bargain clearance bin years ago like Skies of Arcadia or Chibi-Robo.

I'm finding myself most excited for the Tales of Symphonia remaster. One of my favorite games for the Gamecube.
