Still hoping that remaster makes its way out of limbo somehow.

8. Enchanted Arms Xbox 360,ps3 rpg you can collect over 75 golems with diffrent powers to help in battles like a
    adult version of Pokémon.

I actually own the PS3-Version of this game for a few years now, but never got to play it. That sounds interesting, maybe I should give it a shot  :)

I completed it for the 360 ages ago and I would say it's a fun little JRPG with some solid humor to it (the tutorial on how to use a ladder is memorably funny, as is everyone's reaction to why a certain character couldn't be a spy). I will say though that most of the golems become completely outclassed by the human cast as you get through the game. What I found enjoyable was the battle system, as instead of a traditional click and attack style, all characters were on opposite sides of a grid, so you'd have to move your characters around the board to line up attacks and abilities, which all had their own special patterns.

I wonder if they're accounting for games that are just not available physically, as there's tons of smaller, indie titles on the systems that will never get a physical release.

In any case, I do find that the vast majority of my purchases for the current console generation has been digital, as now with a solid infrastructure in place, it's just easier and more convenient to have digital. Hell, there've been a few titles I bought digitally that I already owned physically as then I could swap games without walking across the room to do so.

It may look like trash, but those game of the year editions have all the DLC. I’m actually a fan of those.

The only real problem is that with so many of them, the DLC comes in the form of redeemable codes rather than on-disc content, so buying used was pure gambling.

Finally picked up some physical games for the first time in what feels like forever:

Switch:
Prinny Presents NIS Classics Vol. 1: Soul Nomad & Phantom Brave
Time Management Game Collection

Xbox One/X:
The Inner World
Pharonic
Race With Ryan Road Trip: Deluxe Edition
Rustler
Tales of Arise

I do typically visit the forums at least once a day, and will join any discussions that catch my eye. But I'll admit I'm not the type of person who will start discussions, just add to them, so with nothing new, my presence reduces quite a bit.

I will also say I'm not collecting as much game-wise right now as as speculated, I'm not really finding as many deals out there, so my collecting focus has shifted away from games (currently, my main focus is manga), and the games I am buying are digital, so I'm not really reporting my "findings".

I've enjoyed the trilogy enough that I've played through the entire thing 6-7 times.

But if you don't like things taking up space on your shelf (the hard drive space is a moot point since uninstalling and reinstalling is a thing), you could go ahead and sell it, but at $10 I wouldn't consider it worth the effort to sell.

General / Re: What are your opinions on the Lego games?
« on: May 17, 2022, 01:38:00 am »
If I were to rank all the Lego games I've played from the main series, I'd go something like:

Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Batman 1
Lord of the Rings
Batman III
Marvel 1
Force Awakens
Hobbit
DC Supervillians
Indiana Jones
Dimensions
Skywalker Saga
Harry Potter 5-7
Jurassic World
Marvel 2
Harry Potter 1-4
Pirates of the Caribbean
Star Wars III
Batman 2
Lego Movie
Indiana Jones 2
Incredibles

With the exception of The Incredibles, Skywalker Saga, and the 2nd season DLC of Dimensions, I have completed all played games 100% (Including achievement stacks for Star Wars, Marvel 1, and both Harry Potters).
I feel the lower ranked ones had problems with exploration, where either the hubworld was blah or when trying to get minikits wasn't really rewarding (like instead of using a free play character to solve a puzzle or unlock a subarea, you're just using them to open a box). Or the game was severely forgettable. For instance, I spent nearly 20 hours 100%ing the Lego Movie game, and all I can really remember of it is being frustrated at getting a minikit on a rail sequence in the Western level.

I understand Xbox's reasoning for doing it since a lot of people can't get a new Series X or Series S console. And this ensures more sales for them.

But as an Xbox Series X owner it's a bit frustrating because they are holding back the potential of this powerful hardware by doing so. If the games are made to run on inferior hardware, then they aren't being made to fully take advantage of the new hardware. So I personally hope they move away from this policy so I can really see what my Series X can do. I paid a lot of money for exactly this reason.

That's not how Xbox's cross-gen is working though. The games have a One version and a Series S/X version, but will install the correct version depending on the system. If I pop in my Assassin's Creed Valhalla disc into my One, I'm playing the One version. But if I take that same disc and put it into my Series X, I'm playing the Series X version on it, not the One version on the Series X.

The concept Microsoft is working with is that when you buy a game, you don't need to worry about what system you're buying it for. You just buy the game, and when you want to play it, you get the version designed for the system you are currently playing on. And additionally, even if you jump between systems, all the saves and such get transferred too, as it's considered the same game, not a different instance. There are some exceptions out there, like the most recent Call of Duty, but for the most part, Xbox games are singular purchases now rather than needing to buy the same game multiple times just to play it on the latest systems.

For me, my big one is Warriors Orochi 2. The grind broke me in the end. I've got one achievement left, but that's to do every single stage in the game on every single difficulty. And the prospect of effectively having to replay the entire game 5 more times for one achievement just felt like too much. There's still a desire to go back and do it, especially as I've completed several other Warriors games with just as bad of grinds, like Dynasty Warriors 8, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, and Pirate Warriors 3, but the backlog's just too vast to make it a priority.

One game that almost would be like that too for me was Fable III. The issue was that I got locked into the worst ending completely by surprise. For context, you need to reach a deadline with so much gold in the bank, and how many people you save is based on your savings. And as you play through the story, the timer ticks down about 30 days per story event. Except for the last jump, which went straight from 121 days left to day of the attack. So, I had made my proclamation as per normal, then I'm jumped to the final boss fight, but everyone's now dead because all my money was in real estate at the time. Then the game autosaved. I just noped out, ejected the disc, and put on the shelf. Didn't bother finishing even though I had only like 10-15 minutes of game left. I did eventually go back and restart and beat the game a few years later, but that was still frustrating as hell.

General / Re: What would you do if you lost your entire collection?
« on: April 15, 2022, 12:07:22 am »
For me, how I'd handle it would vary from collection to collection. For video games, I'd rebuild, but it'd be more selective, mainly just reacquiring the games from my childhood for nostalgia's sake. With the newer systems, I'd probably stop buying physical almost altogether and just stick with digital, especially with how Microsoft and Steam are handling things as I just punch in my account into a new machine and I'm back up and running. Hell, my Steam inventory is worth more than my entire physical collection at this point.

As for my other collections, I likely wouldn't rebuild my trading card and vintage action figure collections, mainly as I never get a chance to play the card games anymore and that the figures I collect have been getting harder to find decent deals on. My book and Lego collections I'd certainly rebuild, but with more new stuff than trying to reacquire what I'd lost. And I'd rebuild my board game collection, but a bit more discerningly, so I'd only be grabbing games with staying power in my game group rather than ones we've only played once and called it good.

General / Re: How do you organize your games and consoles?
« on: April 08, 2022, 07:58:15 pm »
Everything's together by system, but in a semi-chaotic way:

Media Shelving #1: Xbox 360, 3DS, DS
Media Shelving #2: 360 cont., DS Cont.
Media Shelving #3: 360 cont., Xbox One/Series X, PS4, Switch, SNES, Older CIB stuff
Media Shelving #4: Xbox, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, N64, GB/GBC/GBA, Amiibos
Bookshelf #1: Amiibos cont.
Misc. Shelving: Lego Dimensions
Bookshelf #2: Consoles not currently plugged into TV, Controllers
Entertainment stand: Switch, PS4, Xbox Series X
Tubs in storage: More controllers, Misc. Accessories, Skylanders, Disney Infinity

I'll probably move the Lego Dimensions stuff into storage soon, as I'm in the middle of moving things around as I finish up renovating the area. Beyond that, for my other collections, I've got:
Bookshelves #3-6: Books (Non-Fiction, Reference, and Fiction)
Bookshelves #7-8: Books (Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Turtledove)
Bookshelf #9: Books (Other Sci-Fi and Fantasy Series)
Bookshelves #10-12: Manga
Bookshelf #11: Lego Sets, DVDs, Trading Card Binders
Bookshelves #12 -18: Board Games
Bookshelves #19-20: TBD
Big-ass Workshop shelving: Retro Action figures (Primarily Star Trek/Star Wars), Lego Sets
In storage: Several dozen Lego sets still sealed that I haven't had time/space to build.

General / Re: Owning the same title for multiple consoles

I have this site saved on my phone so that when I go into a used shop I can see what I already have...so many times that's saved me from buying something I don't need haha

I've got the app and do that too. Most of my mistakes have been from Amazon, where the big "Last Purchased" header didn't appear because the listing was ever so slightly different from when I originally bought it. And then I got the game cheap enough that it wasn't worth the effort to return.

Though that does remind me of another reason for having multiples:
6) I got sent the wrong version

I've had a few times where I get the game I ordered, but for the wrong system. In every case though, the game's been dirt cheap enough that rather than be mad, I'm more like, "Welp, I've now got the PS4 version of this instead".

I've got quite a few games where I own copies on multiple platforms. Typically the main reasons are:

1) I found a good deal
2) To play with friends online
3) Achievement/Trophy stacking
4) I wanted it for that console originally, but there was a delayed release
5) I forgot I owned that game
