General / Re: Games with great stories.

I'll avoid story-driven RPGs as they are unfair competition to most other genres:

- Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere
- Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War
- Back to the Future: The Game
- Ghosbusters: The Video Game
- God of War (2018)
- Marvel's Spider-Man
- The Metal Gear series as a whole
- Metal Wolf Chaos (for the absurdity of the plot)
- The King of Fighters '95 to '97
- Spec Ops: The Line

and the game with the best end screen message of all time:

Enduro Racer on the Master System

The message:
"Enduro" is a symbolic journey through life via the media of a race.
The results are insignificant and what really counts is competing. Of particular importance are the lessons to be learned concerning one's self from the various encounters you experience along the way.
There is no victor or loser in this test of endurance. The only thing that matters is that you make a commitment to begin the long and trying trek.
This game is then dedicated to all of the "life riders" who have started out on the solitary trip to find their own individual limits.
Last, but not least, may we sincerely congratulate you on a perfect run.

I have two questions regarding game titles.

1- https://vgcollect.com/item/70216
I'm aware that it is mostly known in the west as Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu.
However, that name is nowhere to be found on the Japanese release.
So, I think it should be listed here as Jackie Chan.

2- https://vgcollect.com/item/110157
The box reads "Nemesis" in alphabet and "グラディウス" ("Guradiusu" or "Gradius") in katakana.
I know that we primarily list games by their names in alphabet on the box, but I was wondering if maybe we should rename it to "Gradius". I don't know...

Yeah… absolutely nothing for me...
Well, I’m not surprised though. I just realized the last event of this kind that got me excited was E3 2015.

PS: This is the only thing that comes to mind whenever I see the name "Stellar Blade":

To stay on the topic you guys were discussing, I do think Code Veronica deserves a remake and I think it is inevitable, so let's see...

As for my hopes, I know that now that Namco just announced Ace Combat 7 for the Switch (I'm still doubtful as to wheather that console will be able to properly run it though...), the chances of getting a new game in the series announced anytime before at least next fall are very slim, but well...
I'm allowed to dream of seeing an Ace Combat 8 officially announced, right?

I can see it for Nintendo, but sony is kinda following xbox in terms of digital. + majority usually not on discs anymore with big titles and digital only consoles.
Nintendo doesn't come close to most of that. ps5 might just be the last gen for physical sony.

Good grief... If your prediction is correct, it means I will end up turning from a Nintendo hater to a Nintendo fanboy.

General / Re: Your Own Opinion About Collecting Today
« on: January 26, 2024, 06:20:50 pm »
I started collecting in late 2023, I focus on PS1, PS2 and PS3 because I have a PS2 and a PS3 and as you know PS3 can read PS1 games. I have a Nintendo 3ds and a Wii too but I don't collect games for them because nintendo games are so overpriced nowadays... Plus I prefer PlayStation. I usually find awesome PS3 and PS2 games for 1€ to 5€. PS1 games on the other hand are more expensive so I only buy those that I really really want. I collect because I like the feeling of buying games not knowing how they play, check the box at the store to see if I like them and go home and play them. If I don't like then I don't lose much, they are really low price and I can just resell them or give them to friends for free. It's more about the feeling of being a child again and less about spending loads of money on a glorified hunk of plastic. Man... I bought a copy of demon's souls black phantom edition (full pack) for 100€ on a local store and I was really happy with that... Then I see older games (gameboy, saturn, N64...) near that one, all loose and beat up for the same price of what I bought. All of this to say that I don't agree with the prices old games have nowadays. If all this sounds confusing sorry but my english is not the best...

Good to have you around, dirtydan. Welcome to the gang and to the world of collecting games!
It's always interesting seeing how different gamers/collectors have distinct ways of collecting. For example, I'd happily pay the equivalent to €100 or so on a Saturn, PC Engine or MSX item I really wanted, but I don't ever see myself spending near that amount on a modern game (be it a limited/collector's edition or not).
Well, that's all part of the fun of collecting! So, don't forget to register those games you're buying to your collection here, so we can take a look at what you have there.

And don't worry, I'm pretty sure your English is much better than mine. Haha

First things first: I've been hearing that "the video game's industry will go full digital in the next five years" for the past fifteen years or so...
That said, I just recently bought my first digital video game ever: Project Wingman on the PS5! I only bought it because I have absolutely no hopes of it ever being released physically, but I have to admit it's pretty convenient not having to deal with disc swaps whenever I feel like playing it. I don't consider it part of my collection and will never add a digital download to my catalogue here though...

I think that even if most of the industry goes mostly digital in the future, as long as companies sell consoles that take some sort of physical media, collectors will continue buying physical games.

In the end, physical games may become more and more of a niche in the years to come, but I don't see Sony and/or Nintendo dropping discs/cards/whatever in the near future. Let's see...

Gotta admit oldgamerz's post have always entertained me in a way... haha

Question: Yes or no: shipping costs should be included with the agreed upon spending limit.
Choice 1: Yes. Shipping costs should be considered to be a part of the agreed upon spending limit. 50%
Choice 2: No. Shipping costs should not be considered to be a part of the agreed upon spending limit. 50%

I think this issue has been dealt with pretty well this year.
If you don't want to deal with expensive shipping, just inform you don't want to have people living abroad as your giftees and that's it.
Personally speaking, if I had to take shipping costs into consideration, my giftee would've received only a postcard. Haha

For some reason, this Panzer Dragoon long box case is registered as a PS4 Accessory:
https://vgcollect.com/item/206476

I've no idea where should it be (or even if it should be considered an entry in itself), but I guess that isn't the correct location, right?

Capella is evil, 2 Mass is 2 centers of the Universe and you should never go there ever.

Never go anywhere close to the center of the universe. Got it!
Thanks for the tip!
