I tried (as much as I could) to put them in order.
The positions of most of these may change drastically over time, but my top 3 have been unaltered at least since the late 90's...

01 - Metal Gear
02 - Ace Combat
03 - The King of Fighters

04 - Streets of Rage
05 - Wonder Boy
06 - Metal Slug
07 - Resident Evil
08 - Street Fighter
09 - Castlevania
10 - Thunder Force

I don't care either way for a Remake of MGS3 - Like most remakes I feel it as an indulgence.

In my opinion, MGS3 is the greatest game ever made, period. So, I'll have to agree with you there.

And I must have been the only person on the planet who felt pretty disturbed seeing that weird little parrot with unnaturally short wings acting like a predator and feeding on that (probably poisonous) tree frog... I used to see wild parrots and macaws flying around everyday in my hometown, but I've never seen or heard of one who ate a frog!

Has Mercadolibre changed for Brazil changed? For a long time you couldn't buy from there because the sellers wouldn't ship to US. Maybe they like Japan better. :)

Yeah, you're right. For Mercado Livre BR, it really depends on the seller's will to send the item abroad. Maybe they tend to be nicer to me because I'm a fellow countryman? Haha
In my experience, eBay sellers (especially those in the UK, for some reason) tend to be more problematic when In try to order something from here...

I use a 28 inch crt

Majority of my consoles are hooked up with RGB scart through a scart switch but I also have a composite switch for consoles such as the nes, N64 and turbografx which would require mods for scart. it's good enough for those for the moment. Switchers are a life changer for me, it was such a hassle to swap cables it's nice to have a setup that's ready to play for all consoles.

I second this! Switches are a must for me!
I've everything connected to my 28" Trinitron via S-Video or composite via three Sony SB-V66S (strongly recommended) switches. Here's my current CRT setup (all hooked up to the same TV and ready to be played at anytime):

Composite Video:
Sega Master System
Sega Mega Drive
Nintendo Twin Famicom
MSX 2
Neo Geo
PC Engine Duo-R

S-Video:
Nintendo 64
Nintendo GameCube
Nintendo Super Famicom
Sega Saturn
3DO
Neo Geo CD

VGA:
Apple Pippin
Sega Dreamcast

Component Video:

PlayStation 2
Xbox

By the way, I don't know what kind of magic NEC did to the PC-Engine Duo-R, but it's composite video looks gorgeous (I don't know if this applies to the Turbografx-16/Turbo Duo though)...

I remember staying in line for over four hours to watch the movie back in the winter (in the Southern Hemisphere) of 1993. I was absolutely blown away by the experience and, to this day, it was the most amazing experience I've ever had inside of a movie theater.

Second to Alex Kidd, the Master System version of Jurassic Park was probably the game I played the most back in the day and I still get back to it at least a few times every year.
I'd love to see it being included in some compilation for modern consoles, but my hopes are close to zero... haha

Here in Japan, I mostly use
Yahoo! Auctions (https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/),
Mercari (https://jp.mercari.com/)
and
Off-Mall (https://netmall.hardoff.co.jp/cate/00010012/)

I've also used
Suruga-ya (https://www.suruga-ya.jp/)
and
Famicon Tsuhan Tea 4 Two (https://www.tea4two.jp/)
at least a couple of times each.

For buying games from South America (plenty of awesome Tectoy stuff down there), the best option is
Mercado Lib(v)re (https://mercadolibre.com/)

I've never had trouble buying from any of these sites.

I've been using this Sony Trinitron PowerWIDE KV-28PW1 for ages now and I absolutely love it (unfortunately, no photo can make justice to it's real image quality).

I have all my retro consoles hooked up to it via composite, S-Video or VGA and, although it has suffered from a little bit of pin-cushion distortion recently, it still looks gorgeous.

I could never find a modern display with what I'd consider an acceptable amount of lag (especially when playing shooters), so I don't ever see myself playing my old games on an LED anytime soon...

Oldgamerz, don't forget that, under your own "Personal Philosophy", if you believe in god, you can continue to live with your possessions in the afterlife. So, if you get rid of your games, you're not taking them with you when the time (unfortanetely and inevitably) comes, right?

And Warmsignal, you're such a nice guy...

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: question about database pictures

If you are able to properly scale your pictures and upload them in an acceptable quality, I don't think there's any problem in uploading photos to the database (even though scans are usually preferable).
I'm no admin though... Haha

This happens to me very often when playing older consoles such as the Master System and the Famicom.
Security against online hackers is known to be pretty bad on these older machines, so I suggest everybody to be very cautious.
Better safe than sorry...

In my case, I'd say it was probably the Sega Saturn...
I've always loved my Master System as a child, but when the time came to retire it in 1996 (its lifespan was considerably longer than elsewhere in my native Brazil) I went straight to the PlayStation (as piracy made it much cheaper to maintain than its competitors) and became a mostly Sony gamer for years.

In 2011, I moved to Japan and bought a CIB Saturn with a few games for the equivalent to US$15. At the time, retro games were still pretty affordable (not to say dirt cheap) around here and, after I had built a respectable collection of Saturn games, I decided to try gathering games for other systems I could only dream of as child.
And the rest, is history...

General / Re: Which games do you value higher than $100?
« on: March 13, 2023, 02:08:04 am »
Here's my answer based on what I understood fro your question:

Even though I happen to own many games that currently go for well over the equivalent to US$100, there are only three games I've invested three digits when purchasing: Gaiares for the Mega Drive, Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo for the PC Engine and Garou: Mark of the Wolves for the Neo Geo AES.

I could see myself paying over US$100 if they ever release an HD remaster of one of my favorite series (namely Metal Gear Solid, The King of Fighters and Ace Combat), but, at least in the near future, I can't picture myself paying anything close to that amount on a contemporary single game...

General / Re: Rarest Items in Game Collection?
« on: February 21, 2023, 03:26:07 am »
Being a Brazilian living in Japan, I own many games from both countries that would be considered pretty rare in most of the world (feel free to browse my collection and check out some cool Japanese gems and Brazilian exclusive items).
However, if I am to pick only one item, it'd definitely be this sealed copy of Shutsudou! Miniskirt Police (T-30810G).

Only one other (open) copy of this game has surfaced in the last 36 months (at least) and it was sold for ¥144,100 (US$1,070) a few months ago:

General / Re: Buying games for a system you don't own
« on: February 03, 2023, 06:31:12 am »
I bought a few games for the PS3 and PS5 a few days before actually owning the consoles (in both cases, I had them ordered though), but I own a couple of games for consoles I don't have any plans (or hopes) of acquiring in the near future. They are:
- Virtual Cameraman 2 for the Pioneer LaserActive
- Virtua Racing Deluxe for the Sega Super 32X

Even if I don't plan on enjoying the thing, I'd happily buy any interesting or rare game-related items if I can find them for a good price (in this case, both cost me less than the equivalent to US$5,00 each).

75
Off the top of my head (I'll probably soon regret not including some people in here)

1 - Sakai Izumi (ZARD)
2 - Raul Seixas
3 - Chico Buarque
4 - Tonico & Tinoco
5 - Racionais MC's
6 - Belchior
7 - Do As Infinity
8 - Cidade Negra
9 - The Carpenters
10 - Bach
