Off Topic / Re: Check out my new computer!

I was able to play with one for a day, and the FIRST thing I did was see if it would run emulators.  I was able to get NES/SNES working pretty well, with a few sound issues, and mame worked but I didn't try many games.  IIRC, TMNT worked, and metal slug worked, so I can't imagine some of the older ones wouldn't.  I bet it would choke on some of the newer CHD games.  Mine is on backorder :(

I'm in a chicago suburb.  I've had good luck with Thrift stores, and occasionally with garage sales, but flea markets around here are FILLED with resellers who are charging ridiculous amounts...

Picked up seven genesis games from goodwill today for a buck a piece, and NHL Faceoff for playstation, mostly because I don't have any PSX games with the large cases, and I wanted one.

BUT!

In the dollar carts was:
Mutant League Hockey!  Hooray!

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: Watermarked Images Thread

I just put in some Game Gear games, and none of the back images I was able to find had UPC's on them.  Any chance that they didn't have them to begin with?

Modern Video Games / Re: Rock Band Blitz Setlist (now with a price)

I second the rocksmith notion. I DO like rockband more for a fun/party atmosphere, but rocksmith is also pretty fun.

I had NO idea how to play guitar before I started.  And I really still have no idea, but I've learned some chords and the riffs to a few songs, so that's cool.  I've maybe put..4-6 hours into it?  Not a ton. The mini-games are super fun, and the game itself is very encouraging. There are times where I feel like I was completely terrible on a song, and it's not like "YOU FAIL, YOU SUCK" there's cheering, and tons of points, makes you feel good.

Which leads me to my one criticism so far: I feel like it is speeding me along too quickly.  I am certainly no guitar prodigy, but because it is so encouraging, it's all "Hey!  Great work! Try the next song! And some Chords!  And some Palm mutes!"  and I'm still wrestling with the "I can't hear you" main riff.

Also, my fingers hurt after playing for a bit, but that makes me feel more hardcore, so take that as a pro or a con.

So that's my 2c.

I found a Wii balance board at good will for 2.99.  I'm not sure if that was a deal or not, but I picked it up anyway...

I remember renting Taboo: The Sixth Sense from the video store.

I was like, "I don't get it..."
