Didn't someone in the wild west shoot a cactus and discover that there was water inside? I think some gun fighter, in the wild west, was caught in the desert. and Kept on seeing the same cactus. And he got sick of looking at it, and then decided to shoot his gun at it only to find out it had water inside? I am not joking but I don't quite remember if that was true, or not

When a game just freezes or stalls in the middle of play. Happens a lot on retro consoles. The worst is when it happens in games you can't save lol

If it's a cartridge game that freezes it may just need cleaning with some 97% isopropyl alcohol on both the game cartridge contacts or/and the game console pins

If it's a CD or disc based game than you may need to either
1: Clean it or remove the scratches
2: or it may be disc rot in which there is no fix for this.

if there are any tiny holes in the disc backside or front side, you need to get a new disc copy of that game. You can find out by shining the disc toward a light with the top of the disc facing the light

poorly thought out movement controls. I was playing a game recently where you entered a tank and had to track it around but the controls were both joysticks forward for forward, both reverse for reverse, and one forward and one reverse to turn. the control for that tank was so poorly designed that a section that should have taken 5 minutes took an entire hour to beat.

Another game
just like the one you mentioned rayne315 is

"Battlezone", arcade version. On Atari Anthology disc for PlayStation 2. It's exactly like this. If I remember correctly.

you also use 2 joysticks to go forward and, 2 joysticks to go backwards, and one up and one down to turn. Battlezone originally was a year 1980 arcade game, with primitive 3D graphics

Forced stealth in non-stealth games. I HATE stealth in video games with a passion and being forced to sneak around in a game just kills the pacing for me, and therefore my enjoyment of the game.

I too hate 3D stealth in a non stealth video game. One such game is "Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring" for PlayStation 2. early on in the game you need to sneak past 2 men on horses. these men ride up and down a path going back and forth and there is nowhere to hide, without being eventually seen. If you are seen a cut scene shows and you get a game over. if you do have a memory card, you can restart where you left off but there is only one path and there is nowhere to hide without being seen.

Not either at this point, I was far disappointed with the PS4 not being able to rip CD's and also not being powerful enough to run most the PS4 games off the disc. and downright pissed about how you need a additional external harddrive to store more games. And the fact that the PS4 was not backwards compatible. Like it's previous 2 consoles being the PS2 and PS3. I could have gotten an Xbox One but it was built almost the same as the PS4 so that too is out of the question.

I don't like how the recent game console market is going. I want physical copies to make a comeback but doubt it extremely at this point 7/8/2018

Doom, Duke Nukem II, System Shock 2, Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior, and the Apogee boxed PC games are ones I want the most.

Duke Nukem 3D Atomic edition is better than Duke Nukem 3D it includes more levels.

Have you ever thought of getting the 7 expansion packs for Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition, all boxed?

1: Duke It Out In DC
2: Duke Nukem Caribbean Life's A Beach
3: Duke Nukem Nuclear Winter
4: Duke Nukem Extreme
5: Duke Zone 1 & 2
6: Duke Nukem Assault

If you buy any copy of Duke Nukem 3D or Atomic Edition it automatically comes with Duke Nukem 1 episode 1-3 and Duke Nukem II full version

1: I don't like it when CPU clowns keep kicking your ass in a fighting game, it's just seems stupid to me. Even when I beat them I'm still angry at the game, and it really ruins the experience for me.

2: Also I don't like it when video games need to be beaten by using a hidden mechanic or order. I hate when a glitch gets in my way and I can't play the game as a result

3: I hate when games crash

Also, lol greatest hits editions

Whats wrong with greatest hits? I never understood why people scoff at greatest hits/platinum hits/players choice/nintendo select versions... Like I understand wanting to collect the originals, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with these other versions... they are the same exact game. For me its a chance to grab a great game at a potentially lower price. So I guess keep laughing at them so I can keep buying cheaper games!

I agree with justin8301 Like I think someone else already mentioned that Greatest Hits or Selects copies can also be an updated version. They can always be displayed next to one another on a shelf. But that depends on whether or not you sort your entire collection alphabetically or not. I don't care if something is a second print, or not. But thats me personally. At least it's a video game, and chances are it is a real release, from a real company. Just like the original prints.

If you consider a re-release of the same game. But on a newer console it is the same thing over again only it's for a different console.

just a note
I going away for a few days July 4 till the 7th or 8th I won't be on

I never have cared for the Intellivision or its Godawful controllers. TBH the Colecovision ones weren't much better but that joystick made a world of difference and growing up I pined like crazy for a Colecovision and never gave the Intellivision a second thought.

Years ago I found a Colecovision on the cheap at the flea market and snapped it up but for the life of me I have NO idea what happened to the system (I think my little brother stole/sold it).  :-\

I picked up one of the Colecovision Flashback systems on clearance but I've never gotten around to hooking it up.  :P

I thought colecovision controllers felt pretty good.

On the Colecovision Flashback (not sure about the real thing but)  the joystick on the controller breaks easy with extensive use of the console. and you need to use the joystick for all the 60 games on the system, the plastic controller on the Colecovision flashback is not well built and as a result mine no longer has a joystick that registers

2231
In my opinion the controllers for both the Colecovision and Intellivision flashback is terrible. I do like both the systems graphics but the controller ruins the experience for me. On both these game consoles. take a look at these controllers. But the games have revolutionary graphics for their time

Intellivision

ColecoVision

They belong in the trash.
Okay I'll send a dumptruck your way ;)

but in all honesty many people probably feel the same way you do

Someone points out that Wikipedia is absolutely wrong and shouldn't be used as a source on the subject since they have all post-Pong and pre-NES consoles lumped together in one generation, when that is actually two-distinct generations. Then he listed them as such, and it made perfect sense:

2nd Generation

Channel F Fairchild
RCA Studio II
Atari 2600
Bally Arcade
APF MP1000
Odyssey 2

3rd Generation

Intellivision
Arcadia 2001
Colecovision
Vectrex
Atari 5200

Yet everyone uses Wikipedia as the be all end all in this discussion.

What are you thoughts about this?

The 3rd generation has at least 2 listed wrong. The 1978 Intellivision and the 1982 Colecovision is actually the part of the 2nd generation, but yes PONG consoles are the 1st console generation NES and Master System were considered the 3rd console generation :)

I got my first real six-string
Played it 'til my fingers bled
Was the summer of sixty-nine

I can tell you memorize the lyrics of  composer Jim Vallance and rock artist  "Bryan Adam's" song called "Summer Of 69"

If you want to post about music that is rock or pop related. Or if you just want to find or post some rock music suggestions, or rock music recommendations that is what this thread is for :) Enjoy, because I am a huge older rock music fan ;)
