General / Re: A gaming dilemma

I'd stick with future games since, while it'd suck, I'd still have new stuff to play for the rest of my life.

The idea of being trapped with a finite library is honestly kinda scary to me.

There is a lot of games out period to play almost infinite with the exception on remakes, and newer games are going in the direction that you may need a brand new console to play any of Todays games. That is if game companies keep going into the online download only aspect.

You know I am kinda pissed off that the game is not included on the disc much anymore. Older companies back in the 1970's 1980's and 1990's and 2000's made enough money off physical copies and yet there still making the disc but don't include the games on them in a lot of cases, I hear

It's should not cost the companies that much money to make psysical copies. CD's DVD's and Bluray are vary cheap to buy, blank ones and it should be free to put the data on them

Years ago I picked up a used copy of Mortal Kombat II I have gotten rid of it a long time ago, but if you played that cartridge. all the fighters would glitch out randomly a 4 seconds into the first fight to the point that the game had a mind of it's own, the buttons didn't work at all and the game was looping glitches flying the fighters all over the screen. and the game also was playing itself moving the fighters automatically.

I did read once that Mortal Kombat II for the Super Nintendo, had an experienced hacker that discovered how to break the cartridges that were sold back in the early 1990's. This hacker also did this for a joke or a prank to pull on kids to make them think that their Super Nintendo was being controlled by ghosts It was also an old article I read on the internet about this.

I figured this topic was interesting so I shared it with you

Did your ever run into those messed up Mortal Kombat II games?

I probably won't play many future games. I started thinking the other day, that mostly all a video game is pretty much the same experience, only difference between games usually, is they give you a new challenge. new world, new story line, new graphics and different controls and different characters  in the long run of things, other wise most games defined within a genre are all the same except  the rules on how you play the game :)

Your controlling whats on the TV or monitor  same thing every game. I'd say enjoy yourself. I do

Point is It would be possible to make more super video games. where you can use an in game editor to make any kind of game you want. And have a game that you can choose a pallet or color swap or new graphics entirely.

General / Found A Forgotten Video Thread That Looks Interesting
« on: June 15, 2018, 10:10:12 pm »
I just found an old thread that sparked my interest on VGcollect. In spite of it being an older thread It has not gotten a lot of views. I plan on watching the videos in this thread. I hope the videos in this thread are not deleted off Youtube because they are pretty old

General / Re: I'm playing a game on easy... and I'm not ashamed.

Speaking of difficulty it's sometimes more difficult to play against a human opponent. Some games, have dumb AI/computer opponents. Experienced Human controlled opponents are usually more of a challenge because their usually smarter then playing against the Computer on hard difficulty, single player mode

I once thought I was a badass in doom (original series) PC online before I joined my first deathmatch against human opponents. as I joined a deathmatch with human opponents online. I was vary surprised at how much better the other players were than me.

But I kept on practicing and one day 2 players gained up on me and I kept on winning in-spite of being randomly ganged up by some dudes online. These 2 guys were impressed I played with raw keyboard skill and didn't use any cheats.

I feel lately some people are starting to get annoyed on the boards lately, and I hope I am not one of the causes. I sense people are starting to reply in an agitated way. Maybe it's what is happening with E3, maybe someone including myself said something or did something uncalled for. Maybe it is a new member, the boards used to be a place where we could all speak our thoughts, maybe something is in the air. I sense some hostility and maybe I should leave for a while.

General / Do You Ever Alter The Controls For A New Challenge?
« on: June 13, 2018, 05:14:35 pm »
Do you ever alter the controls on a game you know how to play by heart? that you love vary much? but it became too easy for you? Since you probably beat it many times. I didn't so far, but I have thought about it, if in case I wanted try something different or make a video game I love seem new again.

How many of you actually tried alternative controls for a new challenge on a game you've already beaten?

This is an idea I have thought about for a long time now. But occasionally changing controls can make the game lag on some games that were never tested through.

This only is a problem (edit) or a good thing on games with multiple endings some games you need to play on hard in order to end the game on a positive story line. otherwise playing on easy your story will not end well for your character.

I also play on easy for most video games, but in games I am used to all the controls. usually on sports games I am decent at I will boost up the difficulty to medium. But yea some games you can't see the full game unless you start on the hard difficulty. I have completed "True Crimes Streets Of LA" but I almost always ended up with the poor ending, I only got the average ending once where I defeated the final  (assuming)  boss and died the same time as the boss.

But that was using upgrade cheats. (back when I used to use cheats) I used to love True Crimes Streets Of LA but without the upgrades cheat I always ended the game with the bad ending all the time on both the Gamecube and PlayStation 2 so far I never ended the game with the good ending.

General / Re: Has gaming gotten better on worse in your opinion?
« on: June 12, 2018, 08:39:43 pm »
Worse. Now some companies are gravitating toward online play only. Also for those who do not know companies also use some online features of games to spy on their fans and players. Online games mean that servers can even dig into some of your private online information. Such as what times of the day you play, your console or PC social aspects, who you play and chat with online your bank information.

I suppose it's good for law enforcement purposes, and Facebook does this as well. but remember whenever your online and pretty much anything you get into, or access online your being watched. Usually by some kind of main computer. All internet servers can access personal information like your IP address, your times online or offline trust me you can ask any VGCollect admin. Your not alone when your using the internet or sites.

I even saw the the sims 3 for PC had a built in feature, that runs in the background while you play the game and it sends off information to EA servers in California

otherwise modern gaming is just something I am just not into

I enjoy the easy difficulty play though of "Civil War: A Nation Divided" but not on any harder difficulty On the PlayStation 2.

It is not as bad as people say it is, or what I heard people say about it. "Civil War: A Nation Divided" is a first person shooter/behind gun game that uses U.S american Civil War weapons.

It was meant to be a war sim yet a lot of people complained that it was far from being accurate to the real civil war, Some of the main weapons people claim were not used in the real U.S Civil War even though the game itself was a History Channel exclusive.

General / Your Preferred Device Manufacture Friendly Disscussion
« on: June 10, 2018, 06:20:55 pm »
Lets not argue or call anyone a fanboy. all opinions are welcome.
The reason for this thread is because  I have been reading on people least favorite device a lot of people on here have said either Nintendo or Microsoft related consoles. But none mention not once SONY or Sega.

do more people of VGcollect like SONY and Sega devices on here then the other in the big four including Nintendo and Microsoft also .

There is no doubt in my mind Nintendo's 2nd and 3rd consoles. including the gameboy's are what I believe are Nintendo's most preferred consoles. Including the 1985-1983  The Nintendo Entertainment System/Famicom and the 1990 Super Nintendo/Super Famicom

But after the Super Nintendo/Super Famicon. According to what I read on here so far Nintendo's more newer experiments get a lot of people disappointed, starting with the N64 and Virtual Boy. And for some the Gamecube, Wii and the Wii u are not their preferred console

I go with anything but So far think SONY and Nintendo products hold up the best today

Modern Video Games / Re: Opinions on paying for online play?
« on: June 08, 2018, 08:03:24 pm »
It's a rip-off. You've already paid for the console. You've already paid for the game. And you already pay for internet service.

So what exactly are you paying for? Everyone already got a piece of the pie from you.

You don't pay to play games online on PC. You don't pay to access Facebook.

Perfectly said not to mention some Internet Service Providers limit your data usage and it cost a lot of data even to watch Youtube videos.

I would check on your data cap if I were anyone. Some companies will charge you more money on your bill should you use the internet excessive for streaming, or videos or music or even video games especially playing video games

Modern in my opinion. Second hand games have no business being more that $30 maximum, since most second hand stuff is old. But I don't even like spending $30 unless the game is really good. Modern games often cost more in the long run since new consoles are close to $300 US  plus $60 US for a game it is a working mans thing.
