I bought a n64 used online with the expansion pack a while back, and I noticed that although the console is clean and the reset button is not stuck. So I am guessing this may be an electrical issue. I am not going to bother to fix this since on and off still works fine.

I don't use the reset button often.

I watched a video on Youtube and done my research. and I am not the only one having this issue. all Youtube did was recommend that I take it apart and clean it, but the console has been clean since the day I had it. So far google led me to nowhere and there is nothing on the internet that has a solution. Or the hackers have their mouth shut and nobody's talking. as I did read in a forum that this guy fixed multiple systems with this issue but has no tell to prove it

But I did notice that in the video had of someone fixing this issue has the same expansion pack as mine the red booster pack

General / General Play Tips For Any Video Game Genre?
« on: May 26, 2018, 05:03:14 pm »
What are some tips you could offer for playing video games in general?

this can include any genre. I would like to stick to genres because everyone has different games in their collections. Here are some of the things to mention in your posts you can provide a below average retro or modern gamer

1: Your experience with a genre how you beat them (example) "beat em ups" or "shoot em ups" (etc)
2: How you defeat most video game bosses in defined genres?
3: What you should try to avoid doing in a defined genre or style of game.

My tips first person shooters both console and PC

First Person Shooters
1: Try not to stand still. keep moving in all possible directions while fighting off enemies
2: Learn to move from side to side and backwards and forwards while shooting and aiming
3: Reload often after clearing out a bunch of enemies on all modern FPS games were reloading your gun is necessary

4: Duck behind an obstacle then reload
5: Keep low and use the crouch feature often especially if you don't know what your up against.

6: Shoot the gun in the direction of the enemy even if you don't hit them when the game is being cheap.
8: sometimes you can use the sound effects to find hidden enemies.
9: shoot through plants or even walls on some FPS games.
10: look in hidden areas or explore levels  to find special power-ups such as health and ammo upgrades or even better weapons.
11: pick up ammo from fallen enemies and use their guns when you can't find enough ammo for your own guns.
12: Learn to take risks and go guns blazing when the game starts to get hard.

A Gamecube and an Xbox360 and a Wii. my sister unloaded maybe about 50 or more games all for a total of $300. I offered $100 a month. and she accepted the offer

Well worth $300 in my opinion because the consoles and most of the games are like new. all the hookups and controllers all came with this deal and these 50 more games I got are worth more then what I payed for them :)

currently I am pretty much sick of first person shooters, including all Doom games. Most of my entire life I have been playing FPS games. And now it comes to it. I am just sick of all of them except for "Unreal Tournament" and other arena based shooters. I still have not played my current copy of Turok Rage Wars

Hardware and Tech / Re: Conecting a NES Classic Edition to a CRT
« on: May 26, 2018, 05:08:31 am »
Sorry but you need an "HDMI plug or  HDMI to RCA"  converter to do this

Old CRT's do not have a way to hook HDMI cords directly. And unfortunately in my case that is why I don't own An NES Classic Edition. Or the SNES Classic edition. Because the only freaking way, to hook modern consoles or those two plug and play units is HDMI and it sucks big time.

I heard  that those HDMI to RCA converters are crappy.  :-\

Modern Video Games / Re: When Video Games Die
« on: May 24, 2018, 12:16:53 am »
This is what I love about some PC games. Some games give you all the server files so you can run your own server and even make your own rules and mods. Even if official support for the game stopped ten years ago, people can still play the game.  It's great if you want to play a couple rounds with your friends years later. Just a couple weeks ago I jumped into a Day of Defeat server and there were people still playing it. - A game from 2003!

Unfortunately this is starting to go away. - At least with AAA games anyways.

Believe it or not the original Doom series can still be played online I think through engines like Zandronum or Zdaemon. their also is mods for original Doom that can turn the game into something other than doom, just like the fact that there is even a Call Of Duty Modern Warfare weapons mod for doom and 1000's of other free mods for the original doom both multiplayer and single player both.

I subscribe to the AtariAge take on necrobumping- if you've got something relevant to add that warrants bumping a thread, how old it is isn't terribly important. Of course, it's something that varies pretty wildly around the net.

Personally, I think for general opinion kind of things ('What's your top 10 games', 'is X system worth buying', etc.) maybe keep it within about a year. For something where the dialog has changed, older can be fine- for example, a thread about Limited Run Games from back at Breach & Clear's release that hasn't been active for a year and a half could reasonably be bumped to discuss adding Switch games to the lineup on a preorder basis- since now there's new information that might make people want to revise their earlier statements.

I'd love to hear the mod's take on this, since it's kind of a divisive thing.

I can agree with this as well

I doubt you'll get in trouble for necrobumping nor repeating a topic... but some of us... will judge you profusely.

Yes I know, an example of what not to do as far as necrobumping. would be, like bringing up a Christmas thread, that was made 7 years ago for Christmas 7 years ago in the month of July lol

I have been making a lot of threads on VGcollect. I am not trying to control the forum in any way.  I currently have been using the forum search before making new posts.

In short can I get in trouble for bring up a thread made by someone else or even myself that got reply's and was an older legit topic?

instead of making a new thread every time for something with having have former posters repeat things they already said before? I knew some forums in my past that would scold or even penalize and use the word Necrobumping. I need to know this because I was planing on replying on a Plug & Play thread created in 2014 instead of making my own Plug and Play Thread.

By the way, this thread has some vary active senior members that replied and would otherwise probably repeat what they said years ago. on the same subject. This is coming from a man who has been in a lot of forums, what some of your thoughts on this VGcollect?

General / Re: What do you enjoy about game collecting?
« on: May 21, 2018, 11:05:46 pm »
In a world where a person can't or don't want to afford traveling and seeing the real world. video games, movies, and even music can fill that gap.

I enjoy having video games, I enjoy buying video games I also enjoy playing them.

if you can find someone throwing away games or a collector who died or don't want the games anymore. At a garage sale, it is not good that anyone should die but it can happen

What about people who like new retro games, such as Tempest 4000 or New Super Mario Bros Wii?

Anyone ever hear of PONG or Space Invaders for PlayStation 1?  Probably I am guessing you didn't except for the 150 or so people who own PONG and 65 who own Space Invaders. or is listed in their VG collection

I thoroughly enjoy both, but I think I'm gonna have to pick new games. It's pretty simple: I don't have a lot of patience for repetition in games. Nothing will annoy me & make me shut a game off faster than having to repeat the same section of play becuase there's one jump/attack/enemy I mess up on. The longer the section to replay, the more annoying it can be.

Obviously, retro games are far worse at this then newer ones. Typically I only play for an hour or two tops before I hit a difficult part, get frustrated, lose all my lives & have to start the game over- or rather turn it off. New games (starting around PS1 era) offer more saving options, so I don't lose so much ground if I start dying.

I prefer retro but I know that most retro games are vary unfair and most of them, don't let you breeze through them in one days play through.  Due to how difficult they can become

The thing with retro games that lacks in modern games is the fact that chances are you won't finish the game right away. but that is slowly changing I think. even though, I am not a modern gamer yet. I think modern companies are slowly realizing on how short people play through their new game so I think modern gaming companies are starting to make games longer.

for some reason I have to say a lot of Atari games are not stressful as most of the NES and Super Nintendo games are

As far fetched as this sound I think every kind of media including (music, photos video games, and movies and art) will all be accessed through a main world computer. Humans will make more super computers and even take this media into real life Universal exploration.

And they will use this media on some sort of high tech spaceship or space cruiser to keep them busy. While they head for other galaxies and explore other planets. That is of course if there is no war that wipes out the human race in the near future.

I am not high I just have a feeling that this may happen if people and countries get along and don't have war. I also believe that money will also be digital and then eventually everything will be free of charge, especially to communities on other planets. where and when all companies owning media. will be pretty much a thing in the past. But were talking about more then 20 years in the future I think at this point

Both.
I don't believe you played that copy of PGA Tour Golf on Genesis.

well I did in fact but it was just not his copy

anyway I have a ton of games in boxes some on a shelf, I do have a huge backlog I just don't know what to get into at the moment I have over 1007 games some of them I haven't even added to my collection on VGCollect.
