So the music damages the drive, but the games themselves don't....If I play the game with music turned off my drive will last longer? I don't even know how to truly respond to this....

Save you guys the time, newer games come along and people move on. Watching that was like hearing one giant run-on sentence about Fortnite. Some of it was pretty hard to understand.

ahhh, the Seether pointless thread of the day!

I look forward to tomorrow's "Your favorite Microwave brand" or "I don't like apples" thread, or some other completely pointless thread that leads nowhere.

Haha, nailed it. I wonder how long he's banned for? Not long enough....

I assume those people are hacking, the ones who stay on a game server and appear to do nothing, I used to encounter these kind of players all the time on when I used to play Zandronum online. sometimes with a console bubble above their head. but later versions didn't have that over the players head.

Why do people sit and just take up space on an online game server? Google it not answering my question today. I always wondered about this, what are these players really doing?

You seem to assume a ridiculous amount of hacking is going on. I recall another post you accused a lot of people of being hackers. Sometimes people just fall asleep, or get distracted. I'm currently playing War Planet online and I idle a lot just because I can run it in the background on not continually open and close the program. It doesn't need my attention all the time.

One question, Have you ever listened to or heard of Seether the rock band? I'm serious, there really is a band by the name of Seether, I always wondered ever since I first saw you on here, do you/have listen to them? I think their a pretty good band from the songs I remember listening too and yes music is worth collecting for me.

As far as desktop PC's go I don't think that CD/DVD/Blu Ray drives are going away anytime soon, just on laptops I think it is a problem but not on desktops

There is also a song called seether- Veruca Salt, early 90's

To answer the OP- yes

I downloaded that update recently, and it made my PS3 work properly for the 1st time in 14 months. I haven't been able to synch my trophies since Dec 31, 2017 (Except the 1 day I installed a new HD...sometime in March)....new update allows me to synch up just fine. The update was pretty big.

There's two important things to keep in mind when dealing with disc rot:

1)You can't stop it. Proper storage can help delay the process, but the cause is typically a manufacturing issue, so it started 'rotting' the day it was made.
2)You probably shouldn't worry about it too much. The amount of time it takes a properly stored disc to break down is long enough that you'll likely be dead before your disc is.

This is what I came on here to say. I've stored all my CD's properly for 30 years and never had a problem. Games no problem as well. However, even under the best condition disc rot (apologies to the overly triggered individual from the last page) will happen eventually. The good news is, that if well taken care of- the media can last your entire lifetime.

Also, ROT is used properly here. Rot is not a strictly biological term. You may prefer words such as decay, but rot is perfectly legitimate.

Classic Video Games / Re: E.T. The Video Game

I played it when it came out, and I'm surprised by the responses here. I've ALWAYS said that I actually really liked ET, and everyone would jump on me. At least now people acknowledge it's at least playable, lol. I was maybe 7 or 8 when it came out, so keep that in mind. Good for a kid that age. I found the difficulty kinda rewarding once I figured it out. When the FBI agent came on the screen it was panic time, lol. i'd run and fall, and keep trying to get away.

Sure.  I prefer to make endless posts on message boards though- that's my kinda collection!

by the way I think some people may say not to plug in the wireless controller on the PlayStations (while playing) but I never came across any issues, been doing this a long time too :-\

I've never heard anyone say that.

My answer right now is none, but If someone was giving me one for free, I'd go Xbox.

PS4 started out the dominant console this gen, but I feel XB1 has long overtaken it. Neither is amazing though, IMO. The big thing for me is storage, as I have a lot of games. PS4 only allows for 1 external HD....period. Xbox allows 2 at a time, but as many as you want overall. I'm currently on external #3. On PS4 I'm constantly having to delete stuff. Just last week I wanted to add a 13GB game, no room. Delete a 35GB game...still no room?? I ended up deleting 5 games for nearly 80GB just to put on one 13GB game. it says I now have like 65GB free, but cant add any of the other games back, even the ones that are 10GB. Crap like that is the reason I quit buying PS4 games unless it's an exclusive. I have endless space on my XB1 so I just get stuff on there.

Cloud storage is another sticking point- On PS4 half my game saves are not on the cloud because I'm out of cloud storage from PS+. I have 2X as many games on XB1 now, and every single save is on the cloud- so easily 4X the amount of data. My xbox dies, all my saves are still there...PS4 dies, I'm screwed unless I back up my own saves manually- which I don't

Switch just doesn't do it for me, so I'll just go PC from here on out- though that will be more limited. Steam has got me used to dirt cheap games :D

Picked up Fifa 19 on Xbox 360, (for me) completing my NA collection. A purist wouldn't count it since I bought the region free PAL version, but it was 1/2 the price of the much tougher to find NTSC version. Still plays on my 360, so it's good enough for me.

Off Topic / Re: Cost Of Living In Your Area And Upkeep?

I live in north central Arkansas. It’s cheap to live here. Bad cheap. The only thing that is expensive is land. I’m trying to find a small piece of land and build a house, but it’s damn near impossible to find anything at a price I’m willing to pay.

The downside is wages are trash here. There’s not a whole lot of money to be made.
My Uncle and his wife lived in good old Arkansas in the mid 2000s. He's sort of an off-the-grid kind of guy so he built his own house and everything and had a good ten acres of land. He started building houses from start to finish for folks all over the country so he left Arkansas and moved to Virginia where the rest of my family is to be his hub. I visited him once as a kid and I liked it, it was nice to get away from the melting pot that is Colorado.  I think he sold the land and the house, but he didn't get too much for it. Why is land so expensive now?

"Saudi Aurora" -care to elaborate?

Also, curious what you mean when you say it's good to get away from the melting pot that is Colorado.
"Saudi Aurora" ha, well, to the southeast of Denver there is a quaint little town called Aurora. It actually can be quite nice in some spots but it's also the area where the shadiest portion of Colfax avenue runs through. It can be quite the contrast from the niceties of Denver itself, especially in recent times. Basically, a spot I have no interest in living or visiting unless absolutely necessary.

I think melting pot is the wrong term, I just feel like Colorado as a whole is losing its identity with all of the imports from California and other places. Walking through Boulder is like seeing a Reddit thread play out in real life. A lot of the more quiet areas and quaint portions of the metro area have evolved into these massive shopping centers, unaffordable mansions that are three feet apart and have no yards... There's just a general posh feel to Colorado. Like it's becoming Silicon Valley with none of the innovation, just a bunch of smarmy know-it-alls. If you don't make six figures a year and don't have property, you essentially have no value or buying power in the real estate market. Me, I like the quiet life, so I love going to the mountains and hiking and skiing (which is now becoming too expensive for your everyman to do). I've just seen it evolve into this place I don't like, and a lot of the things I remember loving about it from my childhood are going away.

Ah gotcha. I'm just a couple hours from Colorado but haven't been there since the 80's. Huge Rockies fan though :) I think most people know Aurora because of James Holmes :/

1992-2010, wasn't into gaming at all. Someone gave me a free dreamcast with games around 2001, and I did play it a little....really just played shadowman and timestalkers. I was into college, hanging out and being social for 18 years. Enough of that! LOL.

Edit: Clarifying- not 18 years of college, that was just the 1st few of the 18 ;)
