Classic Video Games / Re: Your Opinion Of Golf Games
« on: July 25, 2019, 08:14:31 pm »

but Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 is online only and no longer works for the PS3

Sigh...seriously... again? Tiger Woods 13 is NOT online only, and you can still play it on your PS3. The online portion of the game is shut down, but there is an entire single player mode you can play. And yes, you can still download the patch for it...

That said, I enjoy golf games even though I don't like golf IRL. My 1st favorite favorite was Golf on the NES. I also enjoy all the Tiger Woods games, as I find them relaxing. There is also a Tiger Woods 14.

Off Topic / Re: Amazom Prime membership really worth the $12?
« on: July 23, 2019, 08:38:27 pm »
We pay prime yearly, not monthly. I'm pretty sure it's $120. I think it's a great deal because I share it with my Mom and my Brother. They ship to any of us (3 difft addresses in 2 states) and we can all use the prime videos, etc. Shipping is always here on time, and my family usually gets their stuff faster (Same state as a warehouse). I have also sent things to friends using our prime. If you share with people it's a great deal. Customer Service is also super fast, though I rarely have issues.

I don't mean to be a bother, but I'm not being able to find any PS3 game patches. On my PC today to update my PS3 EA Sports golf collection

and I do own a lot of games that need updates but their patch server has closed down years ago. knowing how EA does things

and I just know that almost every single game for the Xbox360 and PlayStation 3 need these patches in order, not to be unplayable or play with a lot of issues.

I am actually pissed about this, these games are all not the same exact game and I never even got a chance to play them since I got them, and worst of all there is no patches floating on any safe site to rescue my PS3 collection from all the updates those games needed.

(edit) I assume since my golf collection was made by EA sports that I don't have a chance at ever getting the games to play right thanks to no more online support. I am actual too afraid to even put those game into my PS3

(Serious Question)
Are the patches in these game just for when they were online or are some of the patches made for single player mode as well

Dude...I just reinstalled my Tiger Woods games a month or so ago, and the patches are still there. Again, Patches and servers are 2 completely separate things.

To answer your other question, some patches are for online and offline, just depends on the game.
I don't know where you get most games from the PS3/XB360 are broken/unplayable w/o patches...that's just not true. There are a few, but the vast majority work fine without patches (As long as you don't want to play online).

You are getting pissed about nothing. Hook up your PS3 to the internet, put a disc in, and download the patch. Again, all the patches are stull there. They won't be forever....but they are now. Don't be afraid to put Tiger Woods in your PS3....Jeez. Hackers aren't going to infiltrate, the game won't break your PS3, the patch will download just fine, the servers are down so it will tell you it can't connect before letting you play single player mode....etc.

It can't be that hard to understand, most people who aren't gamers don't always take the best care of things. Atari games with damaged sticker are common. I wasn't necessarily a "child or teen or adult" who got made and ripped them, heck, in some environments the adhesive can deteriorate over time, and the labels just fall off when touched. If it bugs ya, try finding a better copy. You also don't want bugs chewing on your labels.

If there is lightning, I'm off everything. Anything else I'm OK with, though I usually go outside and enjoy a good storm (Unless there is lightning lol) We don't get a lot here so I enjoy it when we do.

I think both systems have positives and negatives. As far as what I like better about XB1/

As mentioned above, the controllers. Dualshocks are for smaller hands and feel flimsier...but that a;; fine. What I don't like (Though many see it as a positive) is that there are no batteries. I was charging my 1st dualshock and accidently walked through the wire, yanking it out of the controller. This damaged the port, making my controller not charge anymore. Now that it's charge is dead, I can't use it anymore. had it used batteries...I could still use it.

The biggies for me are storage.

1. PS4 only allows you one external device. period. In this day and age of large games, that sucks. To use a 2nd you have to reconnect your 1st and clear it, at least last time I tried.  Xbox allows you as many externals as you want. You can only have 2 hooked up at a time, but you can use others freely by just disconnecting whatever you already have there. This allows you as much space as you could ever want. With PS4 I have a ton of games uninstalled because I can't use a 2nd HD. Due to storage limitations, I have quit buying PS4 games.

2. Stability. The stability of External seems better on the XB1....If my PS4 had an error and needs to shit down, or there is a power outage, the external needs to be "Fixed" I was downloading something with my PS4 in low power mode last summer while I ran errands. There was a power outage at my house, and my HD got corrupted.

That leads me to the last thing, that some of you will find weird. I like that the physical and digital files are the same on XB1 (Since they were originally going to just use the disc as an installer anyway) If I get a digital copy of a PS4 game, I have to uninstall the disc and the DLC to reinstall the digital copy. As a collector who likes the convenience of digital, that makes Xb1 stand out.
When my PS4 had it's corrupted external, I had to download the full games of anything I had digitally, since If I had the disc it's a different file. When I had to replace a HD for my XB1, I simply installed the games from the disc, and Dl the patches. A handful of games have patches the size of the game itself (Doom, PUBG, a few others) so it doesn't matter there...but If I need to reinstall say... Fifa 19... it's easier to Install 45GB from the disc and DL the 3BG patch instead of having to DL the 45-48GB game in it's entirety. Since I own the digital rights, Once this disc is installed I can put it away. For those of us with Data Caps....this is HUGE for me.

That made me think of one more... file management. With PS4 you have to uninstall everything or nothing. With XB1 you can choose exactly what you want to uninstall. PS4 does let you choose to install larger DLC when you install the game or not, which is OK, but that's all you get to choose.
Why is this important to me? Well I own a digital copy of the one of the battlefield games. If I want to uninstall my physical file I HAVE to uninstall all the DLC as well. The DLC is like 40GB- I want to uninstall the Game, so I can reinstall the digital copy...but not have to uninstall the DLC just to reinstall it. Xbox allows you to just uninstall the game, or specific DLC if you want...of course since it's all the same file it doesn't really matter as much there.

In the right corner you have the search glass, click that.

That's used to search the entire database...he's asking if there is an easier way to search through your owned games. I'd also like to see this feature.

Well, if you use that, you can also see if you own that game, it would say: In Collection under the game name.

Aaaand again, he's asking if there is an easier way to search your collection.

Aaaand again there isnt. But this is asked for for about 5 or 6 years now, so what do i know....

Haven't been here 5-6 years, so I'm sorry I don't know every message board post. I'm glad you are SOOOO helpful. Maybe if people have been asking so long, it might be a useful feature.

This might not help, but off to the side, there's a list of your consoles under your avatar photo. If you click on a system, you can see a list of what games you've added for just that system. It's still just an alphabetical list, but at least it's shorter?

Yeah, I use that, and it def helps.

Of course they will eventually go away, but I haven't seen or heard of any that have yet. oldgamerz, again....what game, or games didn't update? PS+, individual game servers, and music ID services are not relevant at this time. I'm not trying to be rude, I just want to know where this is coming from.

What makes you think patches are being removed? What game(s)? I've reinstalled a few games lately (My HD crashed last year) and all have DL'ed their patches just fine. This is the 2nd thread this has been posted in so more detail would be nice. Remember, PS3 isn't like Xbox 350- the patches stay installed until you remove the game itself, the 360 (annoyingly) cycles through patches so you are constantly redownloading them if you play a lot of games.

So the music damages the drive, but the games themselves don't....If I play the game with music turned off my drive will last longer? I don't even know how to truly respond to this....

Save you guys the time, newer games come along and people move on. Watching that was like hearing one giant run-on sentence about Fortnite. Some of it was pretty hard to understand.
