I am also very glad the site is back up
This section allows you to view all posts made by this member. Note that you can only see posts made in areas you currently have access to.
Local Item Name may be the wrong word. What it sounds like instead would beI am OK with "Custom Item Name"
- Custom Item Name
As an option that only appears as a field when adding an item or editing an item in collection.
For example, I have this item in my collectionExactly, what I suggested
https://vgcollect.com/item/138003
Which has a name of "Sonic Boom: Emoji Plush - Happy Sonic"
but when I am looking at my collection list, I would want it to be named "Sonic stuffed animal"
And that name would only appear to me when looking at collection. And that name would only appear to me when looking at or editing my collection.
Not when looking at the item entry itself.I agree, if you mean, "Not when looking at the item entry itself" when browsing the database.
Not when seeing search results.Sort of agree. I believe if I search for the "Custom Item Name" I have in My collection, I should be able to see the Item in "My collection".
Not when viewing another person's swag toys section of their collection who has itYes, I agree, the "Custom Item Name" I use in my collection would never be seen by another user.
I came across a variant for the standard Nintendo Entertainment System Control Deck but can't discern any differences in the outer packaging aside from the barcode. As of now, the entry name descriptors rely on the barcode information which isn't ideal (although sometimes it can't be helped.) When comparing the two separate items, I may have missed something that would be better to use for the descriptor information, so I figured I'd share it here if anyone wants to try to find any other difference. Sometimes, it just takes another set of eyes to find that one difference. And, if there isn't any other difference between the two, then the barcode will just have to remain as the entry name descriptor.
Here are the database entries:

Here are eBay listings that show all six sides of the packaging for each item:
045496610067

That is as intended. We updated the logic to not just show the box art, but based on the settings for the game itself. If you have selected the full game and the box too, it should show the box art. If you only have the cart selected, it'll just try to show the cartridge art.Yuck Can this be made user selectable?
jjfly had been our most active Vtech user but he has not been on the site inawhile... hope everything is ok.
Without having his feedback, I do not know if this is still something that people want to get done or not. It is on my project list to handle, so would like some feedback on it.Back on VTech, how would a new category and an arrangement like this look? Items with + would be new creations.

Several variants of the V.Smile console are sold including handheld versions, or models with added functionality such as touch tablet integrated controllers or microphones. The V-Motion is a major variant with its own software lineup that includes motion sensitive controllers and has Smartriges designed to take advantage of motion-related "active learning". The V-Motion and Smartridges however are fully backwards compatible with other V.Smile variants and V.Smile Smartridges, and a V-Motion Smartridge can also be played on V.Smile console or handheld, albeit with limited functionality.and

A newer variant of the V.Smile is the V-Motion Active Learning System (Model 788), introduced as a sort of low-cost, educational alternative from VTech to the popular Wii with its built-in controller accelerometers that detect movement. The V-Motion system is not as advanced, but includes a Wireless, motion activated joystick that is righty/lefty adaptable. The controller can be tilted in a direction to achieve a result on the screen, rather than using the traditional joystick directional control. Dodging things or moving left and right with the controller can inspire the player to physically engage in games. It won the National Parenting Center's Seal of Approval for 2008, and the Creative Child 2008 Seal of Excellence.
