Marketplace / Looking for a box and manual for Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble.
« on: March 14, 2016, 09:57:28 am »
Yesterday, I found this adorably challenging game for less than a vending machine snack so I absolutely had to have it. Of course, I can't seem to find the box or manual for it. ;__; If anyone has any leads on these two items, that would super helpful. Thanks, everyone!

General / Retro Gaming Stores: City Location and Information
« on: February 23, 2016, 03:17:51 pm »
I thought it would be a good idea to have a topic devoted to listing various game stores in everyone's area or a place they visited while on vacation.

Obviously, nearly every city has a Game Stop or a Play N' Trade, but this topic is devoted to smaller, lesser known stores that specialize in retro titles. If you're planning a vacation soon, check out this topic and see if there is a store in your destination that will have retro gaming goodness. If a city is missing a store, add it. Tell us about it, too. If the mods like this idea, feel free to sticky it.

I'll start.

Nashville, TN:

Yes, this city is known for its country music and hot chicken, but I have found some wonderful stores since I moved here.

Game Trader
1767 Gallatin Pike N,
Madison, TN 37115

Game Trader
133 James Luscinski Dr
Murfreesboro, TN 37129

Both Game Traders are magnificent. They have a huge selection that starts from the NES and ends with the current generation. Prices can be a bit steep, but there has never been a time I left there feeling jilted. Both are highly recommended.

The Score
1312 Memorial Blvd Ste E
Murfreesboro, TN 37129

The Score is like a miniature version of Game Trader, but they offer a party room for hosting tournaments. There are fight nights, FPS nights, etc. usually held once a weekend. Their prices are cheaper than those at Game Trader, too. The selection is slightly smaller and the people running the show aren't as enthusiastic as I would like.

McKay's
636 Old Hickory Blvd
Nashville, TN 37209

Not only do they have comics, novels, text books, CDs and the like, but McKay's has a metric crap-ton of used video games and video game goods. The prices are cheap as hell. Just make sure to check everything before you buy.

The Great Escape
5400 Charlotte Ave
Nashville, TN 37209

The Great Escape
105 Gallatin Rd
Madison, TN 37115

These are lesser versions of McKay's in that they sell all sorts of used media, but their gaming selection is smaller. The one in Madison has some rude clerks, but the prices usually make the interactions worth it.

Cleveland, OH

Ah, my hometown. Sporting arenas aren't allowed to have glass bottles because of us. The Browns have never been to a Super Bowl, the Indians haven't won the World Series since the 1950s and the Cavs continue to fall short of a championship even with LeBron. Luckily, there are some great stores for video game shoppers.

The Exchange
http://theexchange.com/locations/

I can't tell you how many great finds I discovered at one of The Exchanges. If you're going to be in Cleveland (hell, in Ohio in general) check out The Exchange.

James Games & More
16510 Detroit Ave
Lakewood, OH 44107

James Games & More
21898 Lorain Rd
Fairview Park, OH 44126

A classic retro video game store. The titles run the gamut and the prices are about what you would expect. I recommend checking out the one in Fairview because the customer service is better. The one in Lakewood has more selection, but the guy who runs it is kind of an idiot.

Marketplace / A few games for sale or trade.
« on: January 19, 2016, 10:25:51 am »
I was doing some pruning and decided to put up a few things for sale or trade; preferably trade:

Guilty Gear X Advanced Edition: This is the GBA version of Guilty Gear. Complete and plays fine.

Mugen Souls Z: The sequel to Mugen Souls. Someone gave this game to me and I have never played it, so it's essentially brand new.

A deal has been made.

Omega Quintet Colletor's Edition: Everything is included, along with the game. This includes the art book, the autograph book, the music CD, the pins and the collector box.
A deal has been made; this item is gone.

PM me if anything on here seems interesting to you! I'll give it a few weeks until I put them up on e(vil)Bay. ^.^

General / A Year in Review - 2015
« on: December 01, 2015, 05:18:47 pm »
December is here, and that means we are just a few short weeks away from the start of a new year. I thought it would be fun to see everyone's highs and lows during their gaming throughout the year. I'll list some categories; feel free to add some of your own if I miss one.

Favorite Game Released in 2015: What game came out this year that you enjoyed the most? As long as it was released in 2015, it counts for this category.

Favorite Game Played During 2015
: What's your favorite gaming experience from 2015? It could be the same as the first category, but since most of us here enjoy older titles, I'm anxious to see what game was released earlier than 2015 that you enjoyed.

Least Favorite Game Released in 2015: What game was all kinds of awful that got released this year? Keep this part civil, darlings. <3

Least Favorite Game During 2015: Similarly, what title (current or old) left a sour taste in your mouth? Again, it could be the same as the previous category.

Favorite Gaming Moment in 2015: What moment in a game you played this year sticks out the most as being awesome? Try to keep the spoilers to a minimum.

Proudest Gaming Accomplishment in 2015
: Did you do something that took a lot of hours, work, patience, etc? Share it!

I guess I'll start. ^^()

Favorite Game Released in 2015: Atelier Shallie: Alchemist of the Dusk Sea. This game does everything right as an RPG and as an Atelier title. The gorgeous graphics and fantastic music are a great starting point, but playing through it is such a pleasure. I had so much fun with this game that I didn't want it to end.

Favorite Game Played During 2015: This was a tough call. I went back and forth between Lufia 2, Suikoden V, Dark Souls, Romancing SaGa 3 and Luminous Arc 2. However, I have to give this one to Dark Souls. Holy hell, this game is more difficult than a Tough Mudder and more rewarding than crossing the aforementioned race's finishing line. Death is part of the experience and makes every victorious circumstance feel like a supreme accomplishment.

Least Favorite Game Released in 2015: Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven. The sad thing is, it had a solid concept: beautiful women, action-oriented but turn-based combat, and wonderful translation by XSeed. It just felt so underwhelming and disappointing. Omega Quintet and Tales of Zestiria are runners up for this category.

Least Favorite Game During 2015: Shining Wisdom. I will always favor 2D sprites over 3D polygons, but great graphics don't save a game from hideous mechanics. I know that the Sega Saturn's RPG selection is more about quality than quantity, but yikes. This one could have stayed in Japan. ...IMO.

Favorite Gaming Moment in 2015: The moment that sticks out to me the most this year was from Rule of Rose. At one point, Jennifer finally stood up for herself and the stuff that followed made the struggle worth it.

Proudest Gaming Accomplishment in 2015: I think I'm most proud of earning the platinum trophy in Guilty Gear XRD Sign. It took so long and, if not for the kindness of other gamers on other forums, I would never have earned it. I'm really proud of this.

Anyways, that's me. I'd love to see everyone else's!

Modern Video Games / Zesty Nachos: A Tales of Zestiria Playthrough Topic
« on: October 23, 2015, 05:51:58 pm »
Beware of spoilers and blah-blah-blah Tidal Wave.

I figured it would be fun if everyone (or just me and hopefully redblaze) kept a log during a playthrough of the latest Tales title. We could offer each other tips and tricks, as well as see our progress. I'm only in the beginning stages, but I'm really having a swell time. I just finished earning the Dawn of the Shepherd trophy, which should indicate to those that are playing where I am. We can try to keep it as spoiler free as possible, but I can't make any promises.

But, yes, so far I'm really enjoying it. Sorey reminds me of the types of people I need to surround myself with because he's such a good person.

Off Topic / Fall Stories/Trips 2015
« on: October 01, 2015, 11:20:28 am »
Inspired by Telly's summer thread! Fall is now in full swing since we are in the lovely month of October. What has been everyone doing with their time? Share your trips and stories below. It doesn't necessarily have to be about going somewhere; just mention something fun you did.

At the start of Fall, we went to the Tennessee State Fair. It was a good way to ring in the season, even though it was slightly crowded. We went on a few rides, acted like children as we attempted to run into other children on the bumper cars, and we enjoyed high calorie fair food.

User Feedback / pacpix
« on: March 26, 2015, 06:07:27 pm »
I had the pleasure of making my first video game trade with pacpix. He was very responsive in getting back to all of my messages. The package arrived in great condition and was packed with care. It arrived promptly and without any hassle.

Thanks again! I hope others get the same great experience I did.

Hello and how y'all durrin?

I found some anime DVD box sets that I don't watch and figured I'd see if anyone had an interest in them. I have pictures of each one for those interested.

Xenosaga: The Complete Series

Magic Users Club! (Mahou Tsukai Tai!) Complete Box Set

Kiddy Grade Box Set (this is the one that comes with a crap-ton of trading cards which are all still in their little baggies)

That's all for now. Let me know on here or via PM if you have any interest in one or more of these.

Hello everyone!

I have a copy of Wizardry V: Heart of the Maelstrom for the Super Nintendo. I tested it and it works fine. I found it with all of the contents with the exception of the typical SNES dust protector. That means it has the box, instruction manual and the cardboard slot alongside the cartridge. All are in lovely condition.

Would anyone want to trade it for something? Wizardry isn't really my thing, so if anyone wants to work out some deal, I'd be happy to do so. PM or respond here if you wish. ^^ I can provide pictures if interested.

General / Proudest Gaming Accomplishments.
« on: January 07, 2015, 04:21:28 pm »
In this topic, post your proudest moments in gaming that make you smile with pride and make you want to shout from the rooftops. It can be something miniscule or something even the most seasoned gamer would bow down to; as long you feel fulfilled, it's an accomplishment. This is my first topic, so what better way to kick it (and the New Year) off than with getting to know each other some more and learning about everyone's special gaming moments. I'll mention a few of mine.

*Earning the platinum trophy in Star Ocean: The Last Hope -International- for the PlayStation 3. The amount of time and energy it took to earn this could have been used for other games, but I stuck to it and have one of the most rare trophies ever on the PSN. Luckily, I (usually) had fun going for this.

*Getting a perfect score on one of my favorite songs in Dance Dance Revolution is another one of my proudest moments. The song, B4U by Naoki, is a classic that I was determined to master. My feet were killing me by the end of the number, but I was super proud of the results.

*In Record of Agarest War, I got to the true ending without the use of a guide. That's something grand for an Idea Factory/Compile Heart game.

*Finishing the hardest song on the hardest mode of Elite Beat Agents. I barely passed, but a passing grade is a passing grade!

Post your proudest gaming accomplishments! I am super excited to read them.
