Almost done with Infamous Second Son now....  I have been pleasantly surprised by how fun it has been....  I think the best part is that each new set of powers you get sounds completely ridiculous and terrible, but then end up being more awesome than the previous ones....

Site Feedback / Re: New option after searcing for a game
« on: April 19, 2014, 11:51:26 pm »
If the game is not found with a search, would it be possible to add an link to submit the game on that "No results found"-page?
As of now I first have to search the database, and if not found I need to pop open the other menu to submit it.

Maybe it seems like a minor thing to bitch about, but since I'm aiming at adding the whole PAL library of Ps1-games it sure would make my life a hell lot of easier :)

EDIT: Or, is it reliable enough to only search for the games directly under "Submit games" section, where you enter the title and platform/region?

I like the idea but my only concern is that it may add to more duplicates being added. As I'm sure you've noticed, our search system is a big...fragile to say the least. It often takes a few searches (or a detailed understanding of our naming conventions) to find the game you are looking for.

I agree with this concern....  I think most dupes are the result of users not knowing how to properly search for a title as oppose to not knowing an exact title....

Site Feedback / Re: Missing category, Ps1 platinum

Greatest Hits, Player's Choice, et cetera are all pretty much packaging variations. I don't really like think it needs a whole category. At the same time I can understand if you're someone who has over 1000 PS1 games and would like to survey what Platinum/Greatest Hits games you own.

It might be a long shot but maybe having the ability to search your own game library would be helpful. For example, all you'd have to do is type in Platinum and everything labeled that would come up. This could be useful for series that span multiple platforms. If I were to search for Madden, as in Madden Football, it could then list all the Madden games that are in my collection without having to look through each platform to find out.

This is a good idea....  Once you break a thousand games or so searching can get tedious....  Say you want to view a quick concise list of all the Resident Evil games you own for example....  It would be much more convenient to have a list compile from a search than click through each section in your collection....  Though arguably, if you're logged in and just search "Resident Evil" then a list with all of them would appear with the "in your collection" tags under the ones you own, so I suppose as it is right now it is decently workable....  I don't think this implementation would be very high priority....  Only in series with a very large number of entries would be tedious to sort through....

Classic Video Games / Re: MOST EXPENSIVE GAME!

My second, or possibly most expensive game is in the mail right now. I'm gonna die if it doesn't get here soon. The guy took three days just to mail it out!

Oh, oh~!  What is it~?!

The drop-down list have an option for Playstation Classics, but there are no good way to add the Platinum-editions.
A quick fix to add, I would think, and would make my (still in progress) site-based Ps1-library a hell lot of fancier.

PlayStation (PsOne) Classics are PSN (digital) releases of games.

Platinum-labeled games are the European equivalent of the Greatest Hits line in the US, and they go under the standard PlayStation [EU] filter. Just add the games with " - Platinum" (without the quotes) appended to the title.

^This....  There are numerous other iterations of this in different regions as well....  For example Konami's "The Best" line of reprints in Japan....  I think it'd be too convoluted to list sub-series releases like that personally....

General / Re: Who Pays Full Market Value For Games?
« on: April 12, 2014, 06:47:36 pm »
I have before, but I almost ALWAYS pay for a substantial percentage with trade ins....  I only pay full value cash on a title that I can't let slide by....  If there is a rare game I have been wanting a lot and I find it in absolute mint condition I may end up dropping money on the spot for it....

"I do kinda miss being able to pick one guy & play through the entire story with him instead of being made to swap around for each battle"

^This....  I enjoyed each character's individual stories, even if a solid 80% of the stories just over lapped in each faction....  It still felt better to me that way....  I do really like DW8XLC though....  I'm quite happy with the addition of a second EX attack with each character too....  I like that they're starting to expand on move set options instead of just mix them up like before....  I always thought that DW5 was the closest to getting this right before and then they started sharing weapons and changing move sets all willy-nilly....  Hopefully they'll start to focus on expansion again and not just variation....

Yeah it's pretty hit or miss. Unfortunately unless we have a proper barcode we can't ensure a good match. I've updated the code some over the last year so it is more accurate...but still missing sometimes. The main problem is that there is no way to automatically tell whether our results are good or not. I should just go and remove them from all non-US pages.

It can be hard yes....  I made the decision a while back to only trust barcodes that I'm looking at on a package right in front of my face for that reason....  Though sometimes you just get alternate UPCs for items with very slight variations....  I noticed for example that there were 2 different published versions for Top Gun Combat Zones, and the ONLY difference I could find was the swapping of the Titus publisher logo with the Mastiff one....  Not very many people would even notice this....

Marketplace / Final steps to moving to Australia sale!
« on: April 09, 2014, 02:12:45 am »
Rezzing my old selling thread to get rid of my big things that take up too much space now that I'm ready to move.  I'll be adding more of the collector's items and large peripherals (Like a Nintendo 64 flight stick) as I dig them out of storage I parse out over the next week.  I generally just stick to Paypal for both seller and buyer safety.  I always cover shipping for free for any non-international US mainland shipping.  Feel Free to make offers if you want to get multiples or something.  I'm always willing to hear someone out!  Each item is listed with the prices I'm hoping for next to them.  Here's the link for my user feedback thread: https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,3606.0.html

Borderlands 2: Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition (Game itself is not for sale just the collector's items)  $75

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection - Claptrap-in-a-box Edition (Game itself is not for sale just the collector's items)  $150

Borderlands Diamond Plated Loot Chest Limited Edition (DLC Codes for guns have already been used)  $50

Had to start over in Dynasty Warriors 8 on the PS4.  You can transfer your save from the PS3 version...if you still own it.  If not, there's no way to get the save across.  And I traded mine in as soon as they announced the PS4 version.  Oh well, I don't mind starting over that much.

Also played some more Mercenary Kings.  Man, that game is all kinds of awesome.  That's the only PS+ game I don't already have that I'm interested in this month, but since I probably would have dropped the $20 on it that's good enough for me.  It's Metal Slug with missions, explorable levels & upgradable weapons.  It's old-school mixed with the best of modern game design.  Just full of win.  :)  The only thing that could possibly make it better would be a Vita version w/ cross-save support.   ;D

Ouch....  Yeah, I've kept every copy I have ever owned, though a couple need to be replaced....
