Update on the Crowdfunded Return of Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series

This past Saturday and today, came updates to the Smgo.TV crowdfunded projects that aim to bring back the recently canceled shows: Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series. The first was a possible indication that Warner Brothers were actually in consideration of fully approving the crowdfunded project to give new seasons to both shows.

With Update #2 though things are looking more positive as a meeting is to occur on April 11 at Warner Brothers to discuss a possible revial for BOTH shows. Here's what the head of Smgo.Tv had this to say:

Quote
Hi All,

Apologies for the delayed posting here on Tumblr and Facebook – as you might have heard via our tweet last night, there is a meeting on the books with WB to discuss bringing back GLTAS and YJ.  The meeting is set for April 11.

We are extremely excited to be meeting with them and we will do everything we possibly can to get your shows’ formal approval.  They are listening; your support pushed this to the top, so thank them and continue to tell them you want the chance to bring these shows back.   It’s working.

We will continue to keep you informed as we progress with these shows.  Hope to have more info soon.

#Motorcity, #DTTBIA23, #666PA fans, we haven’t stopped working for your shows either, so please keep fighting the good fight.  We will continue to reach out to the appropriate people this week to try to set up a meeting.

Keep fighting, keep being awesome, and keep showing interest on Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook - let’s save these shows together.

Thanks all!

Dave

We will continue to update you on this story as more news progresses.  Keep those blue rings on fans.

I've got my fingers crossed. I hated hearing that these stellar shows were getting cancelled. Keep hope alive!

General / Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
« on: March 24, 2013, 02:52:20 pm »
Do you have any unpopular gaming opinions?

Here are mine:

-Zelda II, Castlevania II, and Super Mario Bros. 2 are all great sequels. Different, granted, but still good.
-I HATE the N64 Controller, A LOT.
-Sonic Adventure sucked
-I loved Super Mario Sunshine
-Zelda: Ocarina of Time is NOT the best Zelda game, or even the best N64 game.
-I like RPGs, however I'm not a huge fan of the Final Fantasy games.
-I think Halo 2 is the best entry in the series.
-I like old-school Resident Evil better than the new RE games.
-I think Spider-Man: The Movie is a far better game than Spider-Man 2.
-The original XBox was my favorite console last generation.
-I prefer a great single-player campaign to a good multiplayer game.
-I don't care if a game is complete and in pristine condition. I just want it to be a legitimate copy (not pirated) and in playable condition.
-I like Sonic 3D Blast.
-I like Oblivion better than Skyrim.
-The King's Field series is far better than the Demon's/Dark Souls games.

Let's Name the Top 100 Original XBox Games Together

The original XBox is constantly underrated and undersold, IMO. It was the powerhouse of the last generation. It had a great library of exclusives, as well as the best version of many multiplatform games. And it had a bunch of unfinished Dreamcast games that ended up on the original XBox. The big black box definetly has a soft spot in my heart; so I thought it deserved a "Let's List" thread.

Rules:
-Please add only 1 game per post.
-Please allow others to post before posting again (to prevent this from becoming 1 person's list)
-Please do not repeat games that have already appeared on the list.
-This list is not supposed to be in order of greatest-to-least-greatest, it's a build-as-we-go list.
-Multiple entries from the same series are acceptable. For example, if someone has already listed MechAssault, you can still list MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf.

I'll get this party started:

1. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition

^ The reason that I finally broke down and got an XBox and moved on from my Dreamcast. One of the finest games ever made.

Classic Video Games / What Are Some Old Games You Never Got To Play?
« on: March 15, 2013, 12:31:56 am »
Sorry if this thread already exists. I figured it had to in this forum, but I did a search and went a few pages back and didn't see it.

-Castlevania 64 & Legacy of Darkness (N64) - Never did have an N64 back in the day. It's a system that I've been retroactively exploring, since I owned a PS1 then a Dreamcast back then. These are 2 games on the N64 that hasn't found their way to my collection yet. I've heard both great things, and bad things about the game so I'm curious to discover them on my own, since I'm a Castlevania fan.

-Chrono Cross (PS1) - Loved Chrono Trigger on SNES, never have played this sequel.

-The Elder Scrolls: Arena & Daggerfall (PC) - I didn't discover the Elder Scrolls games until I played Morrowind on XBox (original). I know they're free to download on Bethesda's website. And I have done so. But I can't get the dang things to run on Windows 8. I absolutely adore Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. So I'd love to be able to experience the series' roots.

-Final Fantasy VI - It is in my collection, as I've recently acquired it via Final Fantasy Anthology and it is high on my backlog of games to play, so soon it shall be played.

-Magic Knight Rayearth (Saturn) - A fantastic looking shoot-em up that just looks stunning. I want to play it so bad, but the price is so high.

-Panzer Dragoon: Zwei (Saturn) - I love the first Panzer Dragoon game, and I enjoyed Panzer Dragoon: Orta even more. This is the only one in the main series I haven't played. And I've heard from many PD fans that it's the best entry in the series.

-Panzer Dragoon: Saga (Saturn) - I don't ever see myself playing this one as it's just too dang far out of my price range. I'll never pay $200 for a single video game. And I don't pirate games.

-Parasite Eve 2 (PS1) - Never did get this game when it was new, and now I just haven't come across it again.

-Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth (N64) - I'm a big shoot-em up fan, and I have been for a very long time. That love started with the original Star Soldier on NES. It was among the first games I got with my NES way back in 1989. This particular entry in the series I have never played. And a shoot-em up on the N64 at all is a rare thing. So I'm quite curious about this game.

-X-Men: Ravages of Apocalypse (PC) - An old PC game that uses the Quake engine that I remember seeing ads for in comics books that I've always wanted to try out.

Classic Video Games / What are the Best Sega Saturn Platformers?
« on: March 14, 2013, 09:54:02 pm »
I've always been a big 2D platformer fan. But I don't have the most impressive Saturn collection. So tell me, what are some good Sega Saturn platformers?

My few personal picks:

Shinobi: Legions has to be my favorite. I love the dark, graphical style to the gameplay. It looks similar to the Mortal Kombat arcade games. The live-action cutscenes are awesome! Very reminiscent of the 80s straight-to-video kung-fu movies I ate up as a kid. Any Shinobi fan will love this title.

Astal is another favorite of mine on Saturn. It didn't break down any walls in 2D platforming gameplay or anything. But it was still a solidly designed 2D platformer that was fun to play. And it is absolutely gorgeous to look at. The graphics are amazing on this one and proves what a 2D powerhouse the Saturn really is.

Bug! is a game that I hear a lot of people trash in the gaming community. I can't say it's a masterpiece or anything, but I thought it was fun. The 2.5D gameplay is kind of unique and makes for some fun gameplay, IMO.

Sonic 3D Blast is a game that I have always liked, despite the general hate it receives. No, it's not as good as the Genesis trilogy of Sonic games. But it's still a fun Sonic game, even though it might not be as good. And the Saturn version is the definitive version of this game to own.

Some games I haven't played on Saturn, but have played the PS1 versions are Gex, Castlevania: SotN, Mega Man 8, and Metal Slug X. If the Saturn versions are good ports, then those are excellent games.

Classic Video Games / Can't Remember an NES Game
« on: March 10, 2013, 02:32:29 pm »
I can't remember it for the life of me. I played as a young child at my cousin's house.

It was very similar to Ikari Warriors in that it was a vertical scrolling, overhead view. I remember there being tanks similar to Ikari Warriors as well. And I distinctly remember being able to blow away landscape in it, I seem to remember blowing through a forrest of trees, but it could have been something else. There was also power-up icons (or maybe bonus point icons?) for your tank you could pick up underneath some of the blown-away landscape.

I know it's not Ikari Warriors. And I looked up the 2 sequels on YouTube, but those aren't ringing any bells. Does anyone here have any suggestions on what it might be?

Site Feedback / Collection Filters
« on: March 06, 2013, 09:11:56 pm »
It would be great to be able to look at our collection through filters. What I mean is separating them by certain catagories.

Right now they're separated by system, which is great. But I'd love to be able to separate our collection by other ways, as well, such as by genre, by generation, and by publisher among others.

Off Topic / Favorite Fast Food
« on: March 05, 2013, 12:52:25 am »
What's your favorite fast food place?

5 Favorite:

1. Sonic's Drive-In - Such awesome burgers and so many tasty drink combinations. Plus fantastic ice cream treats. And if that doesn't tickle your fancy, then how about a sandwich, hot dog, tacos, chicken fingers, chili; the selection is amazing!

2. Quizno's Subs - Man am I in love with their toasted subs. So tasty. And they don't skimp on the meat, cheese, and sauce (*cough*Subway*cough*), which is the best part of the sandwich, IMO. That Mesquite Chicken sandwich is heaven on bread.

3. Taco Bell - What can I say? I like tacos.

4. Long John Silver's - I'm also a sucker for seafood. And there's just something about Long John's Silver's batter.

5. Carl's Jr. - Best fast-food chain burgers you can get, IMO. Of course BBQ or mom & pop places are often better, though.

5 Worst:

1. Panda Express - They have the nerve to call that crap Chinese food?

2. Wendy's - Everything is just so bland there.

3. Pizza Hut - All the ingredients taste cheap. Which sucks because they do have good ideas for pizza like cheese-stuffed crust.

4. Subway - Because they think a sandwich should be 80% lettuce.

5. Jamba Juice - Because I'm a grown man and I don't drink my meals.

Off Topic / What is the Next Big Music Fad?
« on: February 26, 2013, 01:07:56 pm »
Seems to me that rap is getting overblown to the point hair metal was at in the late 80s. People's grandma's are listening to rap, even. So it's only a matter of time before the bubble bursts, and the fad ends, and only the true rap fans will remain.

When that happens, what do you think the next big music fad is gonna be?
