Most Fun: PS1
I am a big fan of GRIMEY early 3D games and there are some pretty interesting games on the console. Lots of great RPGs, lots of weird little walking simulators, PAC Man World. It’s all so cool! There are tons of PS1 games laying around just waiting to be played!

Least Fun: American Sega Saturn
American Sega Saturn games are so rare that it’s impossible to find them in the wild and anything that’s fun to play costs so much that it makes me sad. In Japan, it’s really fun to hunt down Saturn games because the console didn’t fall over and die over there. You can almost find games buried in the dirt. In America, I only see five Saturn games a year. Four of them are NHL All Star Hockey, and the last one costs $600. Plus the boxes are so fragile that looking at them funny will break them and you can’t just get another longbox case. It’s a shame because I DO love the Saturn, it’s such a dud that I can’t help but love it. I just don’t have the heart to collect for it seriously.

Have you tried a Japanese Proxy site? I use Buyee and they are pretty good about getting items from Yahoo Auctions and shipping them in a timely matter! Nothing beats actually hunting the stuff over there but this is the next best thing!

I blame the Game Chasers mostly. They've been hyping that area up for years as this mecha of cheap retro games (Little Smason for $10, Flintstone's 2 for $5) and now I'm sure every collector within 200-miles makes it a point to bleed the area of any potential deals. It isn't all their fault though, it's bad everywhere because of how popular the hobby has become. I hear the worst place to hunt for games, at least on the cheap, is the east coast. I have no idea why this is, but I've heard many people say how horrible it is and how slim the pickings are.

Dude I hear ya, they especially helped ruined my favorite Flea Market, Trader's Village. That's where they found Little Samson and man did that give the place attention. It's esp bad because the places reputation attracted the resellers. It used to be you could find $5 NES systems, $25 Boxed Colecovisions, all the games were like $3 a pop, it was paradise..was. I've talked to some of the vendors now and I always her the same thing, "Yeah we did have games but some guy came up and bought all of them. He took them over to his booth over there." It is very disheartening to hear that, but that is becoming the norm. It's not fair you know, it's all gone before we even get there.

However I can't blame the two guys with a YouTube show for what's happening to retro gaming cause it was bound to happen anyway. It's a tread that happens with any hobby and in a way it's good that  Retro Gaming is so popular now. I like that communities like this one are growing and that the love of all these forgotten games is being found again. Sure it's harder to find the treasure, but in a way that makes the hunt and reward mean more. I mean I haven't given up, there's still stuff out there.

Man, this keeps happening to me. I just got into collecting PS1 cause I used to play PS1 games as a kid and I got a nostalgia itch. Just as I was dipping my toes into what else the PS1 has to offer (like the excellent Lunar Sliver Star Story) it seems like all the collectors starting noticing it too. I used to be super big on collecting NES and then things started getting ridiculous. Now I can't find any NES treasure because the DFW area seems to have dried up. I hope the same doesn't happen to PS1 cause that's when Gamechasing loses some of it's fun. :/

I have finally entered the Semi-Modern Era and got an X-Box 360!! I also got WWE:Raw vs Smackdown 2010(360) and Grand Theft Auto IV: Stories of Liberty City(360) which was nice
But I still got my dose of retro cause I got Lunar Sliver Star Story:Complete(PS1)!!!

Oh wow. Playing Street Fighter on the Virtual Boy sounds like it would be awesome! Too bad I'm not Hardcore enough to hunt down a Flashboy, on top of the fact that I'm a broke college kid. Hehe, that's pretty cool though, I like that some people still develop things for the Virtual Boy.

Hi all! How's everyone been? It's been a while since I've gotten on the forum and I wanted to post about an experience I had recently.

So I was walking around my lovely College campus, when I saw that some people have set up a table in front of the library. They were having a garage sale or something and I didn't even notice what else was there cause I saw THE RED AND BLACK BEAST! Lo and behold, these people had a Virtual Boy for sale. Visibly shaking, I asked how much it was and what it came with, it was $30 and included Mario Tennis, Tetroboxer, and Wario Land, along with the A/C Adapter. So I also immediately gave them the money and ran off with the box full of loot.

So the majority of people I hear talk about the Virtual Boy say they hated the darn thing and that it was a travesty. It causes headaches, it's RED, it has terrible games! Well I have played with it a bit and I expected I was going to despise this thing, but I was surprised. I actually found the 3D effect to be pretty cool! I have played it for hours and I have yet to have a headache as a result of this game machine and the games are pretty cool. So far I'm actually having a good time playing it.

So if you look past it's flaws, it's not half bad and I'm glad I bought it.

So how does everyone feel about the Virtual boy cause I know there's plenty of reasons people hated the thing?

Oops I thought that said JUNE 1st, not July darn, I've been gone for a while and it would have been awesome if the site upgraded the day I came back. Oh well least VERSION 2 will come out in just a month!

Oh goodness. What have I walked into? My noobish self has this to say:
- I don't like a lot of cartridge games, despite having grown up on the N64.
- I don't think the Angry Video Game Nerd is all that funny.

Oh my dear friend, you poor soul. Even tho I agree with everything there
EXCEPT FOR THE CARTRAGE COMMENT, Carts are my bread and butter and i do love them.
And the AVGN comment, he's the reason I got interested in retro games, he caught my eye and showed me the wonders

Also here's my take on this thread,

I actually think ET for Atari 2600 isn't that bad of a game, there I said it. :/

There are three things that come to mind when I think "I really should've bought that..."
One was a copy of Conkers Bad Fur Day for $30, I had no idea what this game was when I saw it, all I thought was "What Nintendo 64 game costs thirty bucks?!" O.o
The second is an Odessey 2 for $10, I didn't know I if it worked, but thinking back, it would've been worth the gamble :/
The third was a boxed colecovison for $25, this was missing the power adapter but this was before I knew about Amazon and EBay, so this too would have been a gamble, but man...I wish I got it. :/

Wow, thank you everyone for congratulating me. I appreciate it and its awesome to hear my find was excellent.

But I didn't start this thread to brag about my find, I wanted to see if you guys had any stories about when you found something amazing at a garage sale, I would like to hear them.
I mean come on, someone found an SNES campus challenge cart at a garage sale, I'm sure one of you have found a ROB or a huge game lot, or even...an NES Toplader (YOU are the lucky one if you did). So tell me, anyone find anything way past cool at a garage sale?

Doesn't have to be rare just has to be something you thought was cool.

BONUS! I would very much like to obtain an NES 2, I don't think it will happen this year but hey, if it happens yay

By NES 2, do you mean a top loader? I see them pop up a lot ... they sometimes cost a bit more than they should but I got lucky on the extra one I picked up. Was $10 but damn that thing was ugly. I had to buy a bit to open it and wash it out and I ended up having to paint it cause of all the cosmetic issues it had. I just wish they had the A/V option the toaster does. I hate R/F plugs and its my only system that uses one.

Well I have only seen one in real life and it cost $70 :/
I doubt I will find one I can afford til I graduate college, but hey a guy can dream.
