Site Feedback / Re: Importing CSV files

That's my understanding...in essence, acting like a 'loading a backup'  if something were to happen to your collection.

You can try to bulk load from a constructed collection, but it's not easy.

The correct vgc id's need to be mapped to your collection items. If you export an existing vgc collection, you'll be able to  see the associated vgc id for each item. Otherwise, you can look at the trailing number in the url address for the vgc item page your're currently viewing.
From what I understand those are the only ways to get the vgc id's needed to build a csv for importing.

Due to these details, I've resided to just adding to my collection little-by-little with my barcode scanner. :-\

Can you share a sample of your CSV lines to help give us idea of the data-sets and formatting that you're using?

Variations are allowed multiple entries. No entry is allowed to be multiple releases. Do not try to make 1 entry represent 2 separate items. Those edits to put multiple covers on one entry were rejected and the items you posted here will not get merged.

Thank you for responding! That clears it up for me, and now I know for the future how how those should be handled. :)

NES
-MagMax  (same music throughout the game, oh geez..., but I love them shooters :) )
-Dragon's Lair (ya, the infamous non-intuitive drawbridge beginning stage of the game that everyone hated, but once I got past it, I felt some real accomplishment  8) )

My "Tales of Destiny II" (ps1) did not cost $1, lol.   That about sums up my PS1 purchases from last year  ;D

I seem to be on a retro PC game kick for all of 2020. There's a wide range ...from very-cheap to high-price goods on eBay (i.e. used single cd jewel case -or- sealed big-box releases). If it was 93' released or later, I'd be lookin' for those first physical CD-ROM media distributed games.  These days with Virtual Machines being pretty stable imo, I'm having a lot of fun diving back into old software I played in my youth, like Wing Commander 4, Museum Madness, and Outlaws.

It's been about a 60/40 split between eBay(60) and Mercari(40) these days for my retro pc game shopping....kinda surprised personally how many pc games are being sold on Mercari. If you haven't had a chance to look, I'd strongly recommend checking Mercari out :)

There are two entries for this game with a reversible cover.  I've submitted Cover Art / Back Art / Game title corrections for one of them already.

As far as I know, separate entries for items like this are created since these items are packaged with both covers outward-facing, with the version someone receives being random. Many collectors never open LRG, etc. products, so separate entries are a means of differentiation. Had these items had been released with one standard outward cover with the reversible cover never packaged outward-facing, it'd be different. There are other entries for items just like the one you're mentioning with the same circumstances.

Multiple references to the same item seems like inflation to DB imo ... I feel like I do it more justice with the Cover Art / Back Art / Game title corrections, but those are still pending. The blurb about the "...cover is reversible ..."  and "..randomized from factory .." have not been removed from the Product description, so in my eyes, the one combined-updated listing should still satisfy those LRG collectors that you mentioned.
If there are other entries for items like these that exist, and I happen across them... I'll update them with further accuracy as needed.  Imo, if 2 items in the db are exactly the same (i.e. all the same details, ex. item #, barcode #, etc), and they're just shipped with whatever-side of the reversible cover as 'outward-facing', then those 2 products should be merged -or- update one, then delete the other.  Naturally, the final decision is left up to the mods and db admin on accepting/rejecting the submitted changes, and to instruct us how they want these products added when the scenario occurs.

**Please revert these changes made yesterday, I applied these to the PS4 version in error:

Fixed barcode. Removed item number. IDK what you want to be done with the cover.

Please remove the back cover image, Thank You! :)
