First of all, a bolt-action rifle isn't semi-automatic, it's a repeating rifle. The Gewehr 41 and 43 were semi-automatic, but were far from being the standard issued rifle of the Wehrmacht. Most of them ran around wielding Kar98k's ...

Second: If you consider "Finest Hour" the hardest CoD, I assume you never played CoD 5 aka World at War on veteran difficulty ... storming the Reichstag, dying yourself from checkpoint to checkpoint ...  8)

It seems like there are a lot of people out there not really enjoying the Portal but it seems like its mostly people who either had unrealistic expectations or a total misunderstanding on how remote play works. I've put about 10 hours into Final Fantasy XVI on the portal and my experience has been nothing short of flawless. I'm really loving this device and the amount of playstation gaming i do is about to take a huge upswing.

My Portal arrived thursday but I didn't get to playing it much bc I was on a weekend trip. My impression is quite the same. I didn't have unrealistic expectations about this device and I enjoy using it. Screen works awesome, even when playing shooters, I'm really amazed by the graphics on this "little" tab ... (It's actually a behemoth of an handheld).  8)

My Mum didn't want us to play any Beat'em'Up or FPS till we were like 16 years old, ... but we bypassed her controls via friends  8)

By the age of 11 I was literally addicted to playing GoldenEye007 for N64.

If someone wants to remake a good game, It has to be good. SOMETHINGLIKE:
Tomb Raider for GBC
Super Mario All-Stars

No shovelware remastered such as Blade Runner PS1 or Rehydrated.

I'm currently watching my Wife playing Rehydrated and by first look it seems logical to me, that they made this remake bc it's a really fun platformer all in all.

As SquareEnix is partially leaking, a remake of Final Fantasy IX is coming quite for sure. Some SquareEnix people already formulated their wish for a Remake of Final Fantasy VI, which I personally would welcome A LOT.  8)

But it's still kinda sad that there is this ocean of remasters and remakes and soooo few original new games dropping...

I finally (re-)started playing all of my Final Fantasy games in a row, starting with Final Fantasy Origins for PSX. This version of FF1 and FF2 enables you to play the game in 2 different difficulties. First playthrough will be easy-mode. After beating the game the first time, there's an option to load your completed savegame and restart in normal-mode. I still had a completed FF1 save in easy so I started normal mode. FF1 ist already beaten, now I am playing Final Fantasy II, which is one of my favourite titles of the franchise due to it's unique never repeated leveling system. I'm at about 40 hrs now with a lot of story still to play.
I will only consider this FF Origins collection completed as soon as I beat FF2 in normal mode too, but replaying a game right after beating it the first time seems too repetetive to me. That's why I will play Final Fantasy Legend 1-3 for GB between the easy and normal playthrough of FF2. That's the plan so far ...

Those are short games, so they're great palette cleansers. Enjoy! Legend 2 is my favorite of those three.

Sadly, Legend II is the only one out of the three cartridges that isn't working reliably, though I paid a bunch of money for it :( but I guess I'll figure this out soon as I get to play it seriously.

We got our first Xbox modded back in the days - an nearby video-rental offered 1,- € per day for a game, so we rented about 20 games, for a single day. We just zipped the games onto our Xbox and brought back the rented games the same day  ;D

I remember first playing Elder Scrolls III Morrowind from this batch of rented games ...  so sweet memories ...

When playing the german version w. default settings, it wasn't even possible to kick NPCs to death when they were lying on the ground. Killed NPCs also didn't drop money, so it was mandatory for my GTA financial plans to use this method in order to bring back the original circumstances ^^' otherwise you was forced to gamble, drive taxi or "do a mission" to earn any money oO but honestly, who ever did that? xD

if you messed around long enough you'll eventually start doing the missions and finish the game. Was the scenario for me and my friends back in the day

That being said those censorships seem comical in a GTA game never experienced those.

As I mentioned above, GoldenEye64 was debanned about a year ago in germany. German censorship was always far from practical ... or plausible ^^

Yes exactly. The cheat codes instructions mentionned setting the game to english in the "language menu in-game" prior to entering the cheat code, and I was like "WHAT LANGUANGE MENU???"

Similar story from my childhood. Grand Theft Auto III was heavily censored in France and Germany. Being a french speaker, I would use the website jeuxvideo.com to get my cheat codes. There was one cheat code that claims to unlock the "uncensored mode". For probably 10 years I always wondered what the hell this cheat code does because it straight up doesn't work in my game. Turns out that being from Québec, I was actually playing the north-american version of the game, which is already not censored. I hate the europeans ever since  ;D jk

Well actually, Germany's PS2-Versions of GTA III and Vice City contained blood and such, as soon as you switched the consoles language to englisch.  8)

And toys had changes due to censorship. I bought M.A.S.K. toys there that had bombs and weapons removed because of restrictions.

Nowadays you can buy electrified mag fed full auto nerf guns for your kids here

were you stationed in Germany at that time? I was born in '88 so I kind of missed out on the arcade era unfortunately...
