Wonder Boy in Monster Land requries the SMS controller to be connected.
F-16 is known to not work.

Wow, thanks for this link, this actually answers all my questions regarding this.
I still have to get me some Master System controllers, for I actually wanted to play the SMS games with the right feel in hands.

This is the first I've heard of an SMS game not working on the converter... though I've only ever read up on the Game Gear's converter. A couple follow up questions...

 - Which converter is used? Do you have a model number?
 - What games aren't working on it?

The Converter I use is the european version original SEGA Master System Converter II (red button) . Model No. MK-1621-50

The two games not working so far are "F-16 Fighter" and "Wonderboy in Monster Land" ... both work fine on Master System itself.

Hello fellow gamers and collectors,

I'm proud to own a fully equiped SEGA Medadrive II incl. Mega CD II and Master System Converter II.
I started collecting Master System cartridges for the latter one, and I hope somebody out here might be able to answer me a very specific question regarding this little adapter:

It appears that I have 2 games in my collection, that won't work properly when adapted via the Converter. After a friend of mine who owns a Master System II tested them and found them working well on his console, I wondered If some SMS games may not be compatible with the Master System Converter that I use oO ... every other game from my collection works fine, but only those two games don't, while still working fine when played via the MasterSystem.

Does anyone knows something about some games not working with the converter? I don't really care if I am not able to play them as long as I know they're functioning in general, but that situation just baffled me and I'm eager to know more about this, if anyone can help with some information.

Many thanks in advance, and sorry, if this post already existed in some form

I use those cases too, but only for those games I consider it necessary for, like e.g. NES-Games, or Sega Saturn Games, for their PAL-original cases are quite fragile.
If I had more cardboard boxed games I'd case them in too ... so dust and stuff is kept away from them.
This isn't really a deal, if the original cases (e.g. SEGA Megadrive, PS2, or PS3) are durable enough.

Yes!! PS1 cases are reeeeeaaally fragile when separating them for cleaning or such ...

I already spent my march games budjet for 9 games, mostly SEGA:

Wonder Boy, Wonder Boy in Monsterland and Enduro Racer for SEGA Master System

Digital Pinball and Johnny Bazookatone for SEGA Saturn

Chakan and Zool for SEGA GameGear

aaaand ... Turbo Toons and Yogi Bear's Cartoon Capers for SNES (already own the Megadrive-Version ... it's funny how similiar the both versions are but still slightly different)

This year I'm planing to purchase some more expensive and rare games out of my all time wish list, such as:

- Phantasy Star III and IV for SEGA Megadive

- maybe one of the really rare and expensive GameGear cartridges to boost the biggest segment of my collection

and I'm looking forward to continue filling my SNES shelf for it's still lacking some must-haves like SoM, SoE, Terranigma, DKC3 ...

lots of cash is to be spent in 2022!!  8)

I use square baskets in different sizes for my lose GameBoy and GameGear games (all in transparent cases), holding between 16 and 20 cartridges ... I also do the same w my MasterSystem Gamecollection for I only collect lose sms games due to lack of space :D

Suikoden one of the best RPG series ever as each game save impacted the sequel. Different things happened if you found certain Stars (party mates).
Wow, will have to check it out!

I can sign that statement! Suikoden and Suikoden II are really great games: SNES-graphics with PS1-capabilities, up to 101 Characters to achieve and level up! Not all Suikoden-titles are directly connected in story, but those two defenitely are and I really enjoyed playing them! A must for every RPG-Fan

Azure Dreams for GBC - stumbled apon this game in the early PokéMon era and tho it seems to be some sort of clone, this game got me hooked longer than any other GB game I ever played.
Monsters look way cooler, and it was my first trip into the awesome world of roguelike games.
Whole game is around reaching the top of a 30floor Tower ... only to reveal, that there's a 99floor Basement :D It totally blew my  mind back in the days and therefore it was one of the first must-haves when I started collecting.

I remember a certain time, like 5-6 years ago, when N64 an SNES titles were still quite cheap at local flea markets. I bite myself to this day for not picking up more cartridges for they still were 3times cheaper than today.  :'(

Well, guess that's how it goes ... it's a learning process  8)

Since I started collecting retrogames a few years ago I always longed for owning a copy of Phantasy Star II for the european SEGA Megadrive ... this month I didn't want to wait for it any longer and got it! Feels great to slowly achieving every piece that I feel is a must-have in my gaming-room :) can't wait to play it.

For it's a quite expensive game, that gotta be it for this month. 'nough money spent ...  :o

I totally loved the first batch of SW Battlefront games for the original xbox - and was quite dissapointed in the newer releases on the actual console generations. Back in the day, every fraction offered you a number of fixed classes to choose from that could be leveled up a bit. That's what I missed when first playing the new Battlefront titles, where you're 'free' to create your own classes through different perks. It seemed unballancing to me in fact, but maybe that's just a matter of taste.
Nevertheless, space-battles are still awesome and fun!!

currently re-re-re-re-re-playing Donkey Kong Country 2 for SNES.
Simply one of the best plattformers ever made, and I enjoy every second of it.

My best shot was a sale via facebook. I payed 30,- € for 2 GameBoy Color that came with lightmaster and bag each and with about 15 Games, including PokéMon Silver Edition - that one didn't save anymore, but that lil battery was replaced rather quickly. Regarding the cost of a single GameBoy Color, this was by far the most cost-effective deal I ever made.

Besides that, half of my Sega Megadrive Games collection was passed over to me for free, including many titles that are quite expensive nowadays, for example castlevania (cib), or rocket knight adventures, and so on ...
