Classic Video Games / Re: Nintendo 3DS turns 10 years old.

One thing I loved about when I first got a regular 3DS XL was going back and basically replaying all of my favorite DS games. The upgrade in screen size and picture quality is a wonderful thing to behold, so much so that there's probably no going back to using my first model DS ever again.

The old DS's and DS Lite's were the best way to play single player GBA games . Still worth keeping for that purpose .

Spawn Wave just put up an interesting video today about buying into the 3DS in 2021 .

I picked up a New 3DS XL around 6 months ago when they were cheap . I really haven't played anything on it yet . I've mostly just been trying to pick up as much for it as possible before prices get too high . Lots of interesting games to play on it if you count DS games too .

Besides my Ouya , I'd say off the top of my head ,I regret buying LAND OF THE DEAD: ROAD TO FIDDLER"S GREEN for the OG Xbox very much . It was so glitchy , I remember every so often the screen would just go green and pink and you'd have to shut it off . It was unplayable .

Honorable mention - My Gemini Alien Infection OG Xbox controller . Very lumpy feel , sticks are hyper sensitive while buttons are unresponsive . A cool looking cheaply made uncomfortable controller .

Some older cart games like Atari 8-bit I collect the platform .
The newer stuff , I'm more picky . I'll collect games that I plan on playing and a small percentage of that is games that I've gotten in lots that I came to own by chance .

Do they even pay us much mind ? I don't think they obsess with us half as much as we tend to do them .

For video games, I doubt it. But when it comes to the car culture they definetly love the US back. There is a huge US-import car scene in Japan. Maybe one day it'll be the same with video games. I couldn't care less on my end, I'm neither american, neither japanese. We have maple syrup and you peaseants don't. That's enough for me.

Maple candy , mmm.....

I'm asking your opinions & from your experiences because of Puritans,normies,sjws/npcs & feminists, the censors, people who support censorships, the mainstream & the mainstream media & I'm asking due to what us otakus, weebs, gamers, final fantasy fan/huge fans & hentai fans, our Japanese otaku brothers, our Japanese otaku sisters, our Japanese gamers & our communities going through, dealing with & had to deal with.

Just curious & yes I'm including due to what us fan/huge fans of Japanese games going through, dealing with & had to deal with I had to ask sorry. I guess I will end it here or at least for now & yes I'm mainly asking about us true fan/huge fans & true gamers if Japanese gamers hate us American gamers or not in your opinions & from your experiences :).

Do they even pay us much mind ? I don't think they obsess with us half as much as we tend to do them .

Is yours modified to work without the discs or is that stock ?

Stock. Besides having digital versions, any 360 game can be installed to the hard drive (the disc is still required, but just for a quick ownership check).

Okay , that seemed like the best option for me . I'd heard that at least one of the disc-less mods can get the console banned if you do it wrong and then log it in to Xbox-Live .

yes but like I mentioned you should be able to install any Xbox 360 disc game on the hard drive, BUT I don't think there is a way to install Original Xbox games onto the hard drive.
you can only play Original Xbox games on the Xbox 360 off the disc. but you can save your game save files to the hard drive just not the entire game itself.

again worth mentioning you can't even play an original Xbox games on the Xbox 360 without an internal hard drive. Not quite sure if you can use an external hard drive to play them though.

Interesting , that would be cool if you could save them to an external. I never really used my old 360 for backwards compatibility after a bad experience with BLACK , but I'd try it out now just for fun .

General / Re: Looking for a game with a maze in it from the 1980s

Hello everyone,

I'm currently looking for a game that probably dates from the second half of the 1980s.  Support may have been PC (perhaps IBM) (rather than a console), graphic interface, you use the arrow keys to move around rather than the mouse.

It was some sort of a point'n'click game (probably subjective POV or "FPS-like", but not sure), in which you could collect items in your inventory that would then be useful later on (obviously).  It's not specifically a maze game, but there's a maze at some point in the story.
One of the most remembering moments is when you encounter a thirsty little flower on your way inside this maze, begging you to feed her with water.  Having a bucket full of water in your inventory, you naturally feed her, but there's a "plot twist": she turns into a carnivore plant and eats you alive, forcing you to start over again.

If you know the name of this video game, could you please give it in the comment section?  Or perhaps you know a way to specifically research it?

Thank you again for your help, I'm very willing to find this game again.

One of the Bard's Tales maybe ? The dungeons were basically FPS mazes from what I remember .

News to me as well. Never knew there was an E model. I just assumed it was a typo.

I'd forgotten about them until this post.  I'm pretty sure they came out really close to launch of the XBone?  People generally shrugged their shoulders at it and it got forgotten to time.

Yes, the E was the last 360 made . It was made to match the looks of the Xbox One . I have seen it in blue as well as black . It uses the lowest wattage power supply at 120 watts . Unfortunately they also seem to show scratches worse than any other model .
(Last hardware revision was the August 2014 and later 500GB 360E , Winchester motherboard) It had the addition of 45 nm eDRAM instead of the previous 65 nm .

Received my slim today in pretty decent shape . Needs the dust blown out as expected . I tested it with a little Call of Duty: World at War . Now I've been eyeballing 360 E's . I think I need one of those too someday .

This thread has got me fired up to upgrade my 360 . I've been wanting to upgrade to a slim for years and since I'm not going to find a Series X for a while I guess now is as good a time as any . I just bought a 250GB slim off of ebay , fingers crossed that it's not full of dust or bugs .

You can fit a lot on a 250 GB drive, on the 360 at least, not so much on the Xbox One. That should do you good.

Hopefully . I think my 360 fat has like a 20GB on it so it's way better than what I have .

With my launch 360 I first used a 20 inch CRT monitor and yeah , that did not work well with text . Shortly after that I picked up a 30in widescreen 1080i CRT for 360/PS3 gaming . The TV had no HDMI so I used component cables for it . Games looked great on it , but it weighed almost 200lbs . I had to get a heavy duty TV stand for it lol .
As far as heat issues the first few variants of 360 used a 90 nm CPU/GPU , they used a lot of power and produced more heat than later models . The later models went to a 65 nm CPU , then a 65 nm CPU/GPU , finally ending with the 360 Slim which used a 45 nm SoC chip that used 40% less power than the OG launch version of the Xbox 360 .
So , bottom line , as long as you have the 360 slim you should be good on heat .
