Can we please lock the official release lists on some of the older consoles?  Especially the ones that don't have many variants like the TurboGrafx-16 and Sega Master System. I went into SMS NA today for the first time in a long time and well.... now I'm posting this...

I can agree with just about all of these review scores! hahaha

Global Defense - you can move the ship! you have to hold one of the buttons to move... it adds an extra element of complexity to the game. its still little more than a C imo.

SpellCaster - you def need more time playing it!

You got your hands on quite a few imports to play.. What model SMS are you using to play?

if its passing POST and getting to any video output I'd look into possible heat issues.

Also remove all PCI cards and disconnect your HDD/CDROM IDE cables. Only have the Voodoo3 in the machine and boot.

Might have funky IRQ issues if you put your PCI cards back in different slots. I do believe the AGP and one of the PCI slots share some address space so if you put certain soundcards in a certain slot(the PCI right under the AGP?) you could run into issues.

Also look for bent pins on your IDE connectors.

Im not curious at all. Ive had people ask me what my stuff is worth and all I ever say is "I dont know". Unless Im selling (which I have no intention of doing so right now) the value doesnt really do me any good.

Not even for insurance purposes?

I def could use the info because I do wan't to insure my collection at some point. I mean shit happens...

Hey what about TurboExpress? Come on

If your gonna compare the TurboExpress with something it's gotta be with the Sega Nomad.
Both are portable versions of the their 16-bit console counterpart.
The Game Gear is really nothing but a portablized Master System. Their hardware is nearly identical to each other. Which is the reason as to why it's capable of playing MS games with the Master Gear Converter. So it's actually not really all that different from the Nomad and TurboExpress.

Kinda sorta... While Master System games do work on a GameGear, the vast majority of GameGear games do not work on the Master System(Emulated or via a Everdrive). The biggest issue is the GameGears massive 12bit 4096 color palette vs the Master Systems 6bit 64 color palette.

Street fighter sucked balls on genesis.
Woa woaaaaa there cowboy! Street Fighter II SCE for the Genny was amazing! The only downside was the raspy voices and smaller sprites, but other than that it played perfectly fine. Six button pad on Genesis > SNES pad for fighters any day(unless playing MK)!

As for the topic... I am both types of collector. I have 3 systems that I absolutely love and want to own every game for no matter how shit it is and then there is the rest that I buy games that I know are good and actually want to play.

Right now, 32 is my highest for the Nintendo 64, a favorite system of mine. Sadly because the N64 games are notoriously hard to show off because of their cartridges having no stickers, all of them but like the 4 I have boxes for sit in a drawer.  Really need more boxed N64 titles.

There are some folks on the interwebs who sell edge labels to remedy this.

Classic Video Games / Re: Windows 98 Custom Gaming Computer Build
« on: March 03, 2014, 05:08:10 pm »
This is mine:

OS: Windows 98 FE
board: Intel D850MV
RAM: 768MB RDRAM PC800 Non-ECC
CPU: Pentium 4 2.0GHz
Video: ATI Radeon 9600 XT 256MB AGP
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster Live PCI
HDDs: 20GB WD, 20GB Maxtor
CD: 48x Compaq "Spare" CD-ROM ATAPI
PSU: Antec 400W ATX

This OS install is from 2000 with no reinstalls. Hardware has been changed over the years. There are no original components from the original build except the HDDs and the chassis.

Until now I had forgotten about the P4 initially using RAMBUS...
