No. That entry that is linked should have its art updated to include the back where the label has the console logo. Then the entry can stay in the console accessory section.

All Switch steelbooks would go into the Switch Accessory category as they (presumably) all have the place on the inside to put the Switch cart into.

There was a link to a steelbook with a PS4 logo on it.

Video Game Database Discussion / Duplicate List 2024
« on: January 21, 2024, 11:03:52 am »
Use this thread to post duplicate items in the database so that DB staff can merge or remove the entries.

Post the name of the item that is duplicated, along with the links to each of the items.

Once you have made your post, do not edit it later to add content. Make a new reply if possible or save all of the items you want to post for one post. Editing your post to add new content can cause a problem if a DB admin is actively working in this thread.

After a dupe post has been processed, a DB admin will use the Strikeout text effect on the duplicate links, so that you and we know that the report has been looked at.

Video Game Database Discussion / Error Listings and rejected edits 2024
« on: January 21, 2024, 11:02:43 am »
Use this topic to report issues with Items. Examples include:
- Items with mismatching pictures/information
- Physical item cancelled and not released
- Item has watermarked or photoshopped images
- Invalid items in the database such as non-video game related items
- Any concerns about rejected edits
- Any explanations about an edit you want to do so that it won't be rejected

When you post about an item, include the current title, a link to the item in question and a description for the report. Do not edit posts to add additional content to it, make a new post instead.

When a report is processed, a member of DB staff will use the strikeout text effect on the link so that you, and we, know that the item has been handled already.

Report Duplicate items into the Duplicate Items thread here:

So it is best to say that if the Steelbook has the console's logo on it, that it should go into the Accessory category and if not then into the Steelbook category. It would be easier to do it that way rather than have to figure out how each and every one was sold.

This would then also include SteelBooks which come shrink-wrapped with platform-specific information but are otherwise non-discernible when opened, such as many Switch items like Pokémon Sword, seen here.

While re-categorizing some entries currently placed in ConsoleName Accessory sub-cats, I came across two different SteelBooks for Persona 5 Strikers—one designed for PlayStation 4, and the second for Switch. However, neither have any markings indicating which platform they relate to, with the differences instead being the items' dimensions and the interior media holder for either disc or cartridge, as seen in these two eBay listings. Since there are no markings, they both belong in the Steelbooks sub-cat. Can we agree that Persona 5 Strikers (PlayStation 4) and Persona 5 Strikers (Switch) are ideal entry names? The term SteelBook is redundant as part of the Name field, given the category name.

Edit: The same can also be said for the following two sets of items:
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion SteelBook
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion SteelBook
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga SteelBook
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga SteelBook

As an aside, this topic name needs updating to reflect the new year.

All Switch steelbooks would go into the Switch Accessory category as they (presumably) all have the place on the inside to put the Switch cart into. The PS4 one would just have the disc nub, so it would go into the SteelBook Merch category.

There are a lot of Steelbooks released that are not platform specific, and many instances where a steelbook is found in and sold with a game on multiple platforms. Also there are instances where a steelbook that is sold with a game AND also sold separately at retail.

So it is best to say that if the Steelbook has the console's logo on it, that it should go into the Accessory category and if not then into the Steelbook category. It would be easier to do it that way rather than have to figure out how each and every one was sold.

Site Feedback / Re: Can't add items to collection when logged in
« on: January 17, 2024, 03:05:03 pm »
Forum will keep you logged in forever if you've checked the box unless your salt or session ID changes. Session ID will relate primarily to browser and IP address, potentially computer but I haven't looked into how much fingerprinting is used.

This means you can visit the forum and be logged in if using multiple computers. The main site doesn't work that way. In order to always be logged in you can only use 1 browser on one system. If you log into the main site from another system/browser then it will nuke your session ID for the other browser.

So basically, the forum supports multiple concurrent active sessions but the main site does not. So you can have a situation where you are logged into the forum but not the main site if you are using multiple devices/browsers.

Got some items in from Japan, the exchange rate is realy good right now.

Saturn
Cyber Doll
Virtua Cop with Virtua Gun
S-Video AV cable

PS2
boxed PS2 SCPH-30000

PS3
Wireless Controller

PC
I-O Data IF-SEGA2L/ISA (add-in card for Win9x PCs with Sega Saturn controller connections, for use in my HP Netserver E60 project that I've posted about on X)

Also I've noticed that some of my consoles were not put into my collection, such as my Japanese Saturn. So I will have to add those soon but won't post about them.

Changed Arcadia parent to Emerson.
Split out the different Arcadia clones into their own sub-cats for games. Hardware should go into Arcadia consoles

Moved EACA Color Genie and Video Genie into Tandy cat and deleted the EACA cat.

For a physical game includes list, you typically do not need to put the game name on each line, this is true. But consider it for the more common things like the media and manual. These things you are listing are extra contents. Perhaps the name is not needed and maybe if Art Collection was Art Collection book, it would have been fine. But I recall that particular name to be the primary reason for the reject.

42
I'll keep it in mind regarding the large text. The bug that causes the text to be truncated has been partially identified and added to the internal project log and Jason is now aware of it. Hopefully it is only a small change that will make it so the entire text is retained in the notification log (although it may not look that great considering how much text you can have in desc/box) and make things a little easier.

I am the one who was in the queue where some of your edits were denied, but not the edits you say were relating to specific DLC names. As such the "need to explain the other includes besides game and flyer" is also from me. I believe it was for this as you say:
https://vgcollect.com/item/256155

Quote
includes:
• End of Eternity 4K/HD Edition
• Art Collection <--- what is this?
• Original Soundtrack CD <--- what is this?
• Battle Track Collection CD <--- what is this?
• DLC flyer for original PS4 theme and character avatar set

Since there is no place to show pictures of these items, or links to them from the entry, we need to be clear as to these other items in the description. From the above:
- if Art Collection is a book, then the text should be Art Collection book or End of Eternity Art Collection book.
- use of text "Original Soundtrack CD" makes me think this text is lifted from somewhere or it is a partial title. Is it supposed to be End of Eternity Original Soundtrack CD?
- This battle Track CD, is it an audio CD also? Is the game name missing?

Remember that it may be easy for you to know what the things are that you list if you own the item or have it in hand. For everyone else, we need to be able to look at the info provided and be able to discern what exactly they are without having to do any additional research. Especially if we don't have the item either.

Ebay giftcard winnings for

PC
Angel Devoid: it was a meme purchase, it was in the seller's other items so why not.
Major League Manager (5.25" disk): AFAIK, this version is undumped but I will need to find someone locally with a 5.25" drive to get that done. The only 5.25" drive I have is for either Apple II or C64/VIC-20.

44
I can change it but let's see what Jason has to say.

Added colon after punctuation information to Item Name post.

Quote
Subtitles after Punctuation
Subtitles use a colon but should not use a colon after punctuation. Some games will use punctuation such as ( ! ) or even a period ( . ) in an ancryonym before a subtitle. In these cases, the colon should be omitted.
Example: https://vgcollect.com/item/129976
correct: Overcooked! Special Edition
incorrect: Overcooked!: Special Edition

If there are other example you'd like to see included, feel free to post them here.
