You can submit an edit to change the category on those.

That's an interesting idea to put Web Browser into the accessory section. Not sure about that, let's see what others think.

It isn't games for me per se. It is pinball tables. I have barely any or (perhaps) no real memory of playing pinball games. I have a couple of hazy ones like Pinbot and one other. It is like I never played one of those until 5-6 years ago or so. Its really weird.

I do as I have fond memories of looking at magazines and catalogs from when I was a kid. Screenshots, advertisements, pictures of boxes, etc. I guess it makes me more nostalgic for those paper items rather than the games themselves.

Video Game Database Discussion / Release Country TLD Master List
« on: February 07, 2016, 02:41:30 pm »
TLD cheat sheet.
Region codes:
[EU] Europe
[NA] North America

Country codes:
[AE] United Arab Emirates
[AR] Argentina
[AT] Austria
[AU] Australia
[BA] Bosnia
[BE] Belgium
[BG] Bulgaria
[BR] Brazil
[CA] Canada
[CH] Switzerland
[CN] China
[CZ] Czech Republic
[DE] Germany
[DK] Denmark
[EE] Estonia
[EG] Egypt
[ES] Spain
[FI] Finland
[FR] France
[GR] Greece
[HK] Hong Kong
[HU] Hungary
[ID] Indonesia
[IE] Ireland
[IL] Israel
[IN] India
[IT] Italy
[JP] Japan
[KR] South Korea
[KZ] Kazakhstan
[LT] Lithuania
[MX] Mexico
[MY] Malaysia
[NL] Netherlands
[NO] Norway
[PH] Philippines
[PL] Poland
[PT] Portugal
[QA] Qatar
[RS] Serbia

[SG] Singapore
[SK] Slovakia
[TH] Thailand
[TR] Turkey
[TW] Taiwan
[UA] Ukraine
[UK] England/Great Britain/United Kingdom

Never use a TLD in an item title where the item is in a category that has the same TLD in its name.
Examples:
- don't have ITEM NAME [EU] in CATEGORY [EU]
- don't have ITEM NAME [US] in CATEGORY [NA]

I submitted an edit to add Onyx to alt-name and the P/N on 96660.

The description field is more for the physical aspects of the game release itself. Additional information that may be needed for someone to properly identify that the game they have is the one we have in the database. From the style guide:

Quote
The Description field should be notes about the games packaging variants/ pack ins/ collector's edition details. Or trivia about the games release, such as if it is a launch title, last title, a very limited release,  etc.

Your link to Panorama Cotton shows me Mega Man Wily Wars :\
That info in Strider Hiryu description is not what should be in there. Don't be surprised if that gets posted at some point in the future as a listing error.

And lastly, time to split up the PC [NA] section like the older micros are done.
- PC 5.25" Diskette [NA]
- PC 3.5" Diskette [NA]
- PC CD-ROM [NA]
- PC DVD-ROM [NA]
At least for [NA] to start and do the same for other countries later. For ease of use, you would probably just rename PC [NA] to PC CD-ROM [NA] and add the other 3 sections as empty categories to move the appropriate items into.

Didn't any PC games utilize the 8-inch floppy? What category does a PC game fall under that came packaged with both 5.25 & 3.5-inch disks? There were many during the diskette-size transition period. I would like to know since I haven't entered my PC games yet.

I am sure there are games on 8" floppy somewhere. Thinking now, the 5.25" should be labelled Floppy Disk while the 3.5" is a diskette.
But this is why it is in discussion phase. There is also not a way to handle games that came with 3.5" and CD, or CD and DVD or Hybrid media.

A hybrid media example is one where it supports multiple platforms, usually on CD. This is where a game is released that can be used both on a Mac, Windows and/or Linux, such as Quake Gold.

In my own opinion, I would say that if a game comes with both 3.5" and 5.25" disks it would be put into the 3.5" category. As with any disk based PC game, the description field should be used to mark how many disks came in the package, what type and what they say on them. For now we will all have to decide how best to handle it. Having separate categories isn't the optimal way to do this anyways... but that is a whole other ball of wax!  :)

And one other thing i'm wondering about, i didn't touch any of the name but shouldn't we have to change suffix like (USK Rating) and (ELSPA Rating) by [DE] and [UK] (or maybe [EN] ?) since they are only used respectively in Germany and United Kingdom ?

I've been using [UK] suffix for games that had a UK specific release. As I've found in early computer game releases, there was a general European release in English and then a UK specific one. [EN] should not be used to designate England. All the country suffix we use match TLD country codes. EDIT: the exception is [AS] for general Asian releases.

List of categories that need to be added in the future (to finish my current additions list)
- Atari 2600 BR
- ColecoVision AU
- ColecoVision EU
- Sega SG-1000 FR
- Dragon 32
- TRS-80 Color Computer (there are some CoCo games currently in the TRS-80 category that will need to be moved)

Herculean tasks for the future
- split up PC [NA] into 3-4 categories based on media type and move items to their correct categories.

Think about style guide regarding Description field for floppy disk games to indicate how many disks, what type, what color, what version.

Think about the possibility of adding guides to the site or forum to lay out console specific information such as compatibility, variations, regional differences, rating systems, etc in relation to how those consoles and games appear in the database to help ease confusion of adding the wrong item into your collection or adding an item into the DB that already exists.

Also I don't think this was called Condemned 2: Bloodshot over here, just Condemned 2. :)
Also there is 2 more listings for this game, one is BBFC rating so I know the difference there. But there is another one which is PEGI rating, and the cover seems to be different to this one. Here's the other one :)

93638 appears to be using a stock photo. I can't find a real photo of a front that looks like this and no one has it in collections.
