When listing the items included in a release, you should be "good enough" to list out different flyers. You do not need to specify what a DLC is exactly or its exact name or translation, but in the inclusion list it should be clear enough so that a person can tell immediately.

So if a game has a DLC flyer, "DLC flyer" is good enough, or "DLC flyer with unlock code" or "DLC flyer item number x" are other examples. If there are multiple different flyers for DLC, then the text would only be able to be part of the name if the item has no item number. Such as "horse armor DLC flyer" and "sword DLC flyer"

As for rejects, in your notification log, the text you attempted to use should be shown under "New value"
https://vgcollect.com/notifications

Is this not true or is it instead not showing all of it? Not concerned about it not showing the formatting such as returns, extra lines, etc.

Posting this message here as suggested by dhaabi - as there are also other approvers for edits.

A few of the updated descriptions that I submitted for TW releases containing DLC flyers have been rejected as it was suggested in the rejected comments to list them out individually & be specific with the names vs just "DLC flyers".

The names for DLC flyers are a bit difficult because those flyers are usually in Chinese without any English on them so if I put the names I will need to translate them myself and hard to find them on PSN store online as well (some may not even be available anymore) / hard to check past PSN transaction history for the actual DLC names since it doesn't show all the items in pack other than the title which sometimes doesn't mean anything either and sometimes can't even tell which game it is for (due to the limited functions on PSN online page). In most cases, you won't be able to find it by googling either unless you search by the Chinese name of it. Also don't want to exclude the 'DLC flyers' from the list either since those are contained in the actual package.

Right now (for the most recent edits - considering the rejected comments) I have just put a short description to differentiate the flyers. I would rather do that (though more generic) than provide a wrong translation of the DLC names. If I have the exact names of each DLC on hand I will include it in another paragraph like how it was suggested via another thread "DLC flyer has a code printed that unlocks" etc.

Also, if a rejected edit is lengthy, it would be great if the approvers could send a PM of the rejected edit text to the editors, so people don't have to re-enter the whole thing again (with minor adjustments) just to re-submit. That saves time for the editors from re-typing it all and encourages people to re-submit with the adjusted info.

The DLC one above is one of the examples where the whole description text was updated to the correct format but got rejected because of "DLC flyers" where the whole description will stay in the original incorrect format unless I re-enter and re-submit the whole description field again. For some, people will then just leave it 'as is' rather than re-entering & re-submitting.

In general, release dates are always going to be a problem for games that get a reprint as the vast majority of release date information goes back to the late 90s where websites and list-masters (on BBS/text faqs) did not know or consider reprints. So the issue then becomes a game will have a date, which is likely correct for one of the releases but it should not be used until it is confirmed as to which one. And that is just for single countries like the US.

For EU it becomes more difficult, as a date is likely correct for some version in some country, but it is not clear as to which it is. So we are stuck with having a bunch of information that isn't clearly tied to specific releases only specific games. Even if you were to presume that all EU release dates are for UK versions, you will still run into situations where you can find non-UK being released before UK. So for EU it may be best to just stick with a year and not try to do the entire date. Video game researchers are going to need to start getting info from distributors of the time before we are going to get the precise information.

We can infer an order to releases. For with Nintendo, a -1 is newer than without and a -2 is newer than a -1. They are known to use a -x on a cart when a big reprint is made (new publisher like this Star Wars, or GH-style reprint) BUT a -x can be found on a correction or international release also.

It seems i'm unable to find any information on SNSP-ARJP-EUR-2, everything I see is the SNSP-ARJP-EUR-1 for THQ.

When performing a string search for SNSP-ARJP-EUR-2, the only search result appears from GameFAQs. So, it may be safe to assume that information is inaccurate. However, I won't be the one to make that decision and instead have a Database Admin or higher do so.

I think that this year my goal is to purge my extra media (lots of VHS and DVD) and start going to garage sales again to look for video games.

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: Virtual Boy not showing in side bar?

Virtual Boy does not have its own heading, if that's what you mean. It just shows up under Nintendo.
During the category re-org project, ownership did not want any changes to the big modern categories (Sony, Nintendo, Xbox) so they did not get different/better names.

It looks like these just came out a couple months ago. Since they seem to have a cart slot for Evercade games, it makes them a non-dedicated console, so they can have the system entries made in the Blaze Consoles section:
https://vgcollect.com/browse/blazehw

Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Pocket

It came from Limited Run, so it was sold without a game which is why it is there. It was either included with the bundle mentioned in description as an accessory or as a separate item which is why it has a listing like this.

For some reason, this Panzer Dragoon long box case is registered as a PS4 Accessory:

I've no idea where should it be (or even if it should be considered an entry in itself), but I guess that isn't the correct location, right?

Of course, again a game starting at 2, it will just always happen. This was started in 2023. It is a Diablo Type Game. Like Torchlight it also has guns and "hand cannons" but does not have bows or crossbows. Large amounts of stuff in the environment is destructible and sometimes will drop loot. In the beginning it is just crates but ends up being a ton of things especially when inside houses. It was what you would expect from this type of game, it starts you with a sword and then you can get other melee weapons that behave differently. Then you get a gun and it seems cool but kind of seems useless compared to swords or hammers. There is an update method you get at level 16 that I ended up revolving my life around. There isn't reason to buy much besides potions or cards. I ended up turning into a card collector (weird) and didn't really care about buying or getting anything else.

Around half-way through (maybe earlier) I ended up finding a weapon that was a book. It is a ranged weapon and unlike any other weapon in the game, the primary attack has no cooldown. It isn't exactly instant as you are still limited by the animations but it can end up being the fastest attack in the game, yet not the most damage. So when I was using a vampire card (it gives life steal) it seemed fairly simple to take down enemies but it wasn't as fast. So I said to myself, why wouldn't I just use this the entire game and put lifesteal cards on then I can just tank everything in the game? I did that in Diablo II with an Amazon. It works fine here too except it has no lock-on mechanic for ranged so you have to make sure you are hitting something. This type build I chould sit in a death area and do just enough damage to stay alive. Sometimes I would be taking 1k damage/sec but doing just more than that where standing in some place with an environmental effect didn't mean anything. The only issues then are fields of cold/slow or enemies that have a knock-back or use the Pull skill which will interrupt your attack.

Most of the bosses have phases. An opener, then spawn some helper monsters and will move around. Some of the phases are not good for my build where I just want to stand in one place and hold down shoot. Especially some of the phases with monsters if they happen to spawn in Elementals or the monsters that use Pull. But, in all phases a boss may have, none of them have are invulnerable. Even the ones where the boss will get extra life bars or use life-beam type things (where you are supposed to destroy the extra things first before finishing the boss). So instead of going through the expected progression, with a constant lifesteal action going and you can tank say... whatever is happening in second phase, you can just ignore the other things and hit the boss. If you kill the extra stuff, then he will go into another phase. There were two or three bosses where one of the phases was too overwhelming for me and I repeated the fight until I found an earlier phase that I could tank.

Controls are OK. You can have many different options and I chose the mouse one (like in Diablo) which may not be the most ideal but it was what was most familiar. You can use Shift to stand in place like in D2 as well. Lock-on for range can be finicky. Special ranged powers can miss targets entirely. Camera can be an issue sometimes but it technically has free-look which is bound to wheel so I could look around like in H1Z1. The cut-away on scenery could be confusing at times. The music is nothing to write home about, although there is a DLC with Motorhead that I don't have, that could be interesting.

Doesn't have a Game Over or a New Game+, you can just keep playing after the ending. There is a lot you can do as each area already had challenges to do, and afterwards you get a second page of them, in addition to some new bosses you can kill and new areas you have to unlock. And there are 2 DLC I believe that add things, so you certainly can keep playing this game for a long time.

Had a generic gift card I had tried to use on OneMap (so will be posting about that in the future ;) I also got an Ebay giftcard so will be posting about that purchase hopefully soon) that it wouldn't work. And I hemmed and hawwed about using it at a pawn shop to buy an Xbox 360... so I just dumped it into Steam and bought some stuff on the last day.

Even that work won't be enough. Many times I've tried to start and stop working on some of those categories, mostly Atari but stopped because it would rely heavy study and use of that Atarimania site (I wish they would move to HTTPS already) and other resources. At least Atarimania makes an attempt of separating out the variants by country, which is why they are the best to refer to, but other resources do not such as this:
https://www.videogamevariations.com/AtariLabelList.pdf

In regards to "i2 variation", searching for that term in conjunction with Atari 2600 only returns results from VGC. I was not able to locate any other reference to this. Since the description isn't used to explain what it means, and there has been no change to the entry since it was made, we can only merge it with one of the other ones. Unless you can figure out later on what i2 is referring to.

I suppose people can choose whether they want an entry for a shipping box that contains all those parts or if they want separate entries for all the parts but not being any entry for the edition at all.
- can we have both?  ???

Quote
regarding the language options should not be present here
- where can we enter such info instead? sometimes it's mentioned at the back of the game case but not always.

For the first question. This seems to be a unique situation where the shipping box is the main box, in that it has (at least) a barcode and part number that directly ties to the product itself. This is the only reason why the entry is being allowed like it is currently. However, how common is this, especially with other game + LE content releases and no one was detailed enough to notice before?

Each entry is inherently for the container itself. In this instance, the game case counts as a "pack-in game with its own packaging" (unless it is not unique to the retail release that is) so the particulars regarding the data of that included item is considered to be "Trivia" in relation to the entry. So that information would be present on the entry(ies) for the pack-in game itself.

If you got this item sealed, make sure to note whether or not the game case has that blue 25th label on it or not, it may be important, especially if the game was not released at retail with that. It is hard to tell on YAJ as many of this LE are being sold piecemeal on there so I can't easily tell which games are like that or are normal sealed copies. The only reason I bring it up is because there are sealed copies of the game without that label.

Yes the cardboard box line is ok to use where you did.

Until/Unless there are other pictures of the box besides that one, the title would be
Dragon Quest Monsters 3: Mazoku no Oiji to Elf no Tabi (SE-E3403)
Edition name can't be in the title (but you can put it in alt) because it isn't physically present on the outer box.

I don't particularly like the idea of having that generic box as being the front/back art but I think there can't be an exception made of it because then it becomes a game with separate items like the other online LE entries. I suppose people can choose whether they want an entry for a shipping box that contains all those parts or if they want separate entries for all the parts but not being any entry for the edition at all.

Let's be certain, the barcode is on a label but the E-store just looks like branded packing tape to me. Really low quality presentation from that company considering how they market these things and how much you have to pay for them.

There's way too much Nintendo on that list. :p

My edit of the item number for Lylat Wars [DE] (https://vgcollect.com/item/40187) was rejected.
I used the number above the barcode on the back of the box.
Any reason why it was rejected?

For reference: this ebay offer has a good image of the back

No comment reject of "NUS-P-NFPP-NNOE" which seems to be correct. Try to do it again.
