General / Completing a Collection
« on: March 26, 2015, 03:33:15 pm »
I've done a quick search for previous threads, and this topic doesn't seem to have come up any time recently, so I'll ask...

If you were going to complete any game collection for any console/handheld, which would it be? This about what you want most, forget the rarity or prices, what would you think would be the most satisfying to have a complete collection for? Please, no lame answers like "hurr I don't want to ever complete a collection", this thread is about what you would go for if you had to choose one.

Of course, I'll go first. :) I'd like to go for a complete GameCube collection because of the quality of the library. There's plenty of good exclusives and good multi-platform games, and not nearly as much shovelware as some other systems (the PS2 and DS in particular). I love my GameCube. :) The PS2 is an awesome system, but there's too many crappy sports games and shovelware for me to want to have a complete collection.

Video Game Deals, Sales and Promotions / Syndicate (PC) Free on Origin
« on: March 06, 2015, 09:44:49 pm »
I'm not sure how long this is supposed to last for, but Syndicate is free on Origin right now. Syndicate is a tactical thingamajig from 1993 and was developed by Bullfrog, the same developer responsible for Dungeon Keeper and Populous. Sure, it's a digital download, and it's on Origin :-\, but it's a good game and it's free. :)

Site Feedback / Clone Console Category
« on: January 18, 2015, 09:56:40 pm »
Is there any chance that we could get a clone console category added? I'll quote a post I made earlier in a different thread an hopefully it will get a bit more attention.

Is there any chance we could get some kind of clone console category? Rather than having all the clone consoles in random categories like we do now (they're all over the place, some are even in with the official consoles), it would be nice for them to have one place they're supposed to be in. That is, unless I'm missing something and they already have a category they're supposed to be in but nobody actually puts them there.

I think there's more than enough clone consoles in the database already for it to be worth adding. It would help reduce clutter in some of the other categories they're mixed in with now.

General / December 2014 - Recently Added to Collection/Recently Purchased
« on: December 03, 2014, 07:34:57 pm »
People were still posting in the November pickups thread, so I figured I'd start this month's thread since nobody else has yet.

I'm going to start the thread with a really lame post. :P I bought Dynasty Warriors 2 for the PS2 for $6.

So, Retro City Rampage DX will be seeing a very limited edition physical release (2000 units) for the PS4. It's only $25 and comes with a digital soundtrack and a few other digital bonuses in addition to the game itself. As far as I know, this is the only physical release for the game so far on any system and it may very well continue to be the only physical edition.

Article found here: http://gematsu.com/2014/11/retro-city-rampage-dx-getting-limited-ps4-retail-release
You can preorder the game here --> http://vblank.fangamer.com/products/retro-city-rampage-dx/

Edit: Looks like it's all gone now.

Modern Video Games / The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
« on: November 05, 2014, 05:55:27 pm »
So, now that this is actually a thing... what are your thoughts on the subject? So far, Europe has a pretty cool limited edition announced. I'm excited. If they improve on the save system from the original, this very well be my new favorite Zelda game.

Classic Video Games / Clone Consoles
« on: August 07, 2014, 09:04:59 pm »
What are your experiences with them? Have a favorite, or a least favorite? Have you gone through several because they stop working? Best value for your money?
I'm interested in hearing your experiences. :) (Particularly because I haven't used one before)
It seems like there are some pretty decent ones out there, but they all seem to have at least one fairly significant flaw. The controllers in particular I what seems to be the problem with most, though it's not an issue if you can use the original system's controller.

The Expendabros is the official Broforce parody/crossover thingie of The Expendables. It is available as a standalone title available for download for free on Steam until the end of this year. After that, I think it'll be removed from Steam's store, not sure though.
I'll post the trailer here for those who want to learn more before they download.

Video Game Deals, Sales and Promotions / Free Gurumin (PC) on Steam
« on: July 19, 2014, 06:28:16 am »
This isn't quite as easy as clicking the download button, but it is free. (maybe not right away though?) You have to join the group for Gurumin (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Gurumin), and vote yes on their Greenlight page. I think you're supposed to leave a comment saying you voted yes as well. After the game releases, you're supposed to get a code for the game. Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure is a game from Falcom originally released for the PC in Japan, which later saw a release over here on the PSP.

Modern Video Games / Upcoming Niche Japanese Imports
« on: July 17, 2014, 10:31:56 am »
We have a thread for upcoming Japanese games to North America, but no thread for stuff that hasn't left Japan yet. I figured I'd make one and try to keep it updated regularly. This thread is specifically for upcoming Japanese games which have not yet been announced for North American release. As long as there's a little bit of interest in me continuing this, I'll try to keep it as up to date as I can. There's quite a bit of stuff to keep track of, so any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Video Game Database Discussion / Repro Carts
« on: June 18, 2014, 12:16:59 pm »
I was wondering if repro carts of old games (or sometimes relatively new ones) were allowed in the database. Games like english-patched carts of Japan-only games in the case of Mother, or Mother 3 to name a couple of examples. I don't have any to add now, but I was wondering for future reference.
