I already refuse to pay full price for something I have much less ownership rights over what I had with offline DRM physical games. Not more than 20€. Imho for a good 10 years the majority of physical copies are already made pointless because of online DRM. You get a dust collector with the same ownership right you have for the digital release.

This plays a huge factor for me.  I'm (generally) not going to pay full price for a digital only title, but if it gets dirt cheap I'll pick something up.

Fanatical has a bundle for $16 that had 15 games in it, which includes The Mummy Demastered and Santae: Half-Genie Hero, both games I wanted, so I went ahead and bought that for Steam.

His string of recent outbursts did result in a temporary ban.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - I'm a little torn on this, because I really loved all the bureaucracy of monster hunting and monster response plans, but the family drama stuff was mostly a big whiff.  They should have done the either secret sibling story or the ex's real identity story, but not both as they create a really saggy paced middle of the season.

I think this issue has been dealt with pretty well this year.
If you don't want to deal with expensive shipping, just inform you don't want to have people living abroad as your giftees and that's it.
Personally speaking, if I had to take shipping costs into consideration, my giftee would've received only a postcard. Haha

I didn't want to speak to the people who had to pay for overseas shipping, but I had a feeling this might be the case.

Since I've mentioned Nathan Fielder's works in the past, I'll also mention how I've finished watching his latest collaborative series The Curse. For a decade, he's played a terribly socially awkward character to the point where you question if that's his actual personality or not. With The Curse, some of those elements continue, but he was largely playing a different kind of character this time, which was so off-putting as it's almost a total contradiction to the persona he's taken on publicly for so long. This time around, he's clearly acting, where before it was (and perhaps still is) ambiguous.

The show isn't all about Nathan Fielder, as he's only one of three main cast members. Together with Emma Stone and Bennie Safdie, they bring this awful social presence that perfectly combines humor, cringe, and disgust in this scripted drama. I'm not divulging any specifics or really anything substantial about my thoughts because, to be honest, I'm still processing this strange project. At the same time, I think it's best to experience it blindly. I've really enjoyed reading discussion threads elsewhere about the series, though.

I'll also mention how The Curse is only streaming on Paramount+. I opted for a free seven-day trial and cancelled. When you try to cancel, an extra two free months are applied to your account, and you can still cancel with all that credit applied.

I've been waiting on this to finish its run so I can binge the whole thing before I cancel my Paramount+ account.  I've been interested ever since I heard the talent involved.  It might be the next thing on my list after I finish Monarch.

Took a short detour and watched Bodies on Netflix. Solid little murder mystery series with a genre bent.  It gets off to great start, with an intriguing story and compelling mysteries, but lises momentum towards the end because once things start falling in to place the endgame becomes pretty obvious.

Shipping can be pricey, and I like to give people as much stuff as I can from their lists, so I don't want that biting into the budget.

Just to clarify what I'm hearing, are talking maximum budget or minimum budget?  I know that what we've got now are mostly a set of recurring participants who all generally know what to expect, but just based on human nature, the lack of a minimum means that someone will in almost all certainly will really really undershoot the value of what they send.

Dark Winds is a supernaturally tinged murder mystery set on a New Mexican Navajo reservation in the 1970s.  The first season is a brisk six episodes, and overall it's pretty entertaining. The lead is Zahn McClarnon, who is great in everything, but some of the supporting performances are spotty.

Second season of Dark Winds doesn't have as compelling of a story as the first season, but it does have two terrific episodes that are probably better than any in the first.  Not a perfect show, but I'll continue watching when the new season comes out.

3. Star Trek: Resurgence (PS5)

I'm a bit conflicted on this one.  The graphics and gameplay would have been outdated 5 years ago, and the branching path narrative is incredibly simple.  Despite that Resurgence might be the most purely Star Trek game to have come out in 30 years.  Moral dilemmas, big sci-fi concepts, cool technobabble.  It's all here.  There are some bits of the writing that don't really make logical sense in a chain of command style outfit like Starfleet, and it just kind of ends leaving a few dangling plot threads.

Overall it's a ok video game, but a very solid Star Trek game.

At the same time, I'd also like to play through more PlayStation VR games. I still have everything hooked up after having not played any for it in a few months, so hopefully that's enough of a motivator.[/font]

I treated myself to a PS4 VR a couple years ago, and I've never set it up. I keep buying VR games on sale too, lol.

I played a few things on mine - Astro Bot, Beat Saber, the Until Dawn rail shooter, Tetris Effect.  I liked pretty much everything I tried on it, but it has been packed away ever since they made it clear that it wasn't going to be PS5 compatible and I switched out my set-up from PS4 to PS5.

It is compatible! Request your free PlayStation Camera Adaptor through Sony's support page.

I did that years ago and have yet to receive it.

That's upsetting to hear. I don't remember how exactly long I waited to receive mine, but it was only around a week, maybe two. If you're actually interested in receiving one, it doesn't hurt to contact support directly.

Did that after like two years lol

After spending multiple days trying to get a hold of PS Support I finally got through this morning, and after waiting in the queue for about 30 minutes I got in gave them my case number only for them to say "Oh, we've changed how we track all that since then.  You are going to have to resubmit everything."  And since I didn't have the serial numbers at my immediate disposal I got a new case number to spend multiple days getting back with a support person so I can provide the serial numbers.

2. Super Mario RPG

The big problem is that they added two things that trivialize the difficulty: the ability for timed attacks to hit all enemies and a kind of limit break group attack.  No combat encounter had any level of hardness. The only time I needed to use items was when I was focusing on filling out the monster compendium instead of killing enemies.  A shame, because it's still a fun and funny experience,  it's just fulfilling, like empty calories.

The only real detail I know about the game is that, toward the end, there is a platforming section that I've been told is quite challenging and unforgiving in the original Super Nintendo release. Has the difficulty been altered for that too?

I realized the other day that I actually do have the immediate means to play Super Mario RPG for SNES since I own a SNES Classic Edition. So, I may prioritize playing that sometime this year.

There are some challenge rooms in the second to last dungeon with some (slightly) irritating platforming, but you only have to clear 4 of 6 and only 2 are platforming.  I gave up on the second one because it was reversed controls, but I only tried once.  That's the only thing that I can think of that people might be referring to.

Whether you agree or disagree with the above question, why is that?

If I had to guess - financial stability.  People who want to participate at $60, but couldn't or wouldn't feel comfortable if we went higher.

2. Super Mario RPG

A very solid and faithful remake with some fixes in localization, a lot of nice quality of life changes, a pretty good update on the visual style (in gameplay, the cutscenes are more hit and miss).  The big problem is that they added two things that trivialize the difficulty: the ability for timed attacks to hit all enemies and a kind of limit break group attack.  No combat encounter had any level of hardness. Third season of Succession continues having impeccable performances and amazing family dynamics, but it's starting to feel like several plots are just going around in circles.  Especially Kendall's.

Succession's fourth season is easily it's best, with one of the episodes being one of the best acted things I've ever seen.  I love the characters and I love the performances, but I've basically never been able to get invested in the whole "Who is gonna win?" plot, but this season is where I got the closest.
