I went a little overboard this past weekend on finds. I had gotten a state refund check on Friday and it was burning a hole in my pocket.  :P

3DS
Megaman Legacy Collection w/Gold Megaman amiibo

Blu-Ray
The Good Dinosaur (3D Release)

Game Boy Color
Looney Tunes: Carrot Crazy (CIB)

Genesis
Disney's Beauty and the Beast: Roar of the Beast (CIB)
Hardball! (CIB)
Haunting starring Polterguy (CIB)
IMG International Tour Tennis (CIB)
James Pond 3 (CIB)
Lotus Turbo Challenge (CIB)
PGA European Tour (CIB)
Space Harrier II (CIB)
Winter Olympic Games (CIB)

Interactive Figures
LEGO Dimensions Back to the Future Level Pack
LEGO Dimensions DC Heroes Team Pack
LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who Level Pack
LEGO Dimensions Jurassic World Team Pack
LEGO Dimensions LEGO Ninjago Team Pack
LEGO Dimensions Scooby Doo Team Pack
Skylanders SuperChargers Nitro Soda Skimmer
Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Darklight Crypt Set (all pieces minus the bundled Character)
Skylanders Swap Force Tower of Time Set (all pieces minus the bundled Character)
Skylanders Trap Team Fire Trap (I'm amazed I found one out and about)
Skylanders Trap Team Trap Storage Box

LEGO Dimension packs were $10 off + 20% off w/Best Buy's GCU. The Fire Trap and Nitro Soda Skimmer were full price unfortunately. The Storage Box was 25% off at Meijer. Incidentally I saw the SuperChargers equivalent to that at Best Buy for $5 but passed on it (for now...  :P)

NES
Bandai Golf Challenge Pebble Beach (Box and Cart Only)
Pinball Quest (Box and Cart Only)

PS2
Ferrari F355 Challenge

PS3
Afrika (FINALLY)
Armored Core 4
Bleach: Soul Resurreccion
Hail to the Chimp
High Velocity Bowling
Ridge Racer 7

SNES
Disney's Goof Troop (CIB)
Disney's Timon & Pumbaa's Jungle Games (CIB)

The NES, SNES and all but two of the Genesis games came from the same person. The guy runs a booth at the local flea market and he made mention that he has a store where he lives. I thought it was only 15 minutes North of the flea but it turns out it's closer to an hour. He's been having a decent amount of good stuff lately and since I buy from him all the time, he tends to offer me nice bundle pricing.  ;D

Wii
DJ Hero 2 (Completes Turntable bundle)
Ten Pin Alley 2

Like I said, just a hair overboard.  8) It looks like a lot but the Wii games for 0.90ยข each, the PS3 games with the exception of Bleach were $1-5, Ferrari was $3, IMG Tennis and Winter Olympic Games were $3 each. I did splurge on Afrika, it was $28 with no discounts but I was happy to pay as I've been looking for that one for years.

Maybe there needs to be something in big bold letters on the new item submission page to do partial searches such as "Link to the Past" or "Megaman" and "Mega Man".  :)

Also, this...

The UK/EU box art was used and based on the information/release date of that listing, I'm thinking it should be this one... http://vgcollect.com/item/41271

Found these 5 in the "Latest Items" box on the sidebar, all submitted by user retrogamer8048. Upon checking his profile there's a few more games listed that he is the sole owner of that are most assuredly in the database already. Perhaps a mod can go in and adjust those?  :P

Edit: Didn't see Razorbeamz post until after I hit submit but basically what he said. :P

At least I try to anyway.  ;)

I can't be the only person who has this happen to them. I'll be editing an entry like say Panorama Cotton (http://vgcollect.com/item/21852) and then I'll edit another like Strider Hiryu (http://vgcollect.com/item/21587). In both instances I would see that there's text in the Description field. Now I have something of a love/HATE relationship with the dreaded Description field. When doing edits, I used to sometimes put information in like Number of players/levels, Mega count and notations like if a game used password save or had a battery back-up. I figured it would be good pertinent info to have on the listing but alas I quickly realized such info did not conform to the Style Guide for the Description Field and I was met with plenty of rejected edits.  :P

I would argue that the info I was adding could fall under "Trivia" but rather than putting up a fight I opted to acquiesce and decided instead to just largely ignore the Description Field completely except in cases where I would see a blatant violation of the Style Guide which I would then blank out. This brings me back to the two Mega Drive games listed above. In both instances I felt that the information in the Description Field either conformed with the Style Guide (Cotton) or it was too questionable for me to blank out (Strider). In both instances I decided to leave well enough alone and made sure my mouse pointer never came anywhere near the field. Or so I thought.  ;)

I logged in today and saw that I had new Notifications. While perusing them, I noticed a got an approved Edit for Strider Hiryu and a rejected Edit for Panorama Cotton...both for the Description Field.  Derp.  :P At this point I'm curious to know if there is a glitch in the Matrix somewhere that somehow gives me ownership over that information when I submit Edits for the other fields. I can't say I'm the biggest fan of getting dinged for the someone else not filling out the field correctly.  :o

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: What to do with the 'inserts'?
« on: February 05, 2016, 02:03:12 am »
Indeed, they do in most cases. However, this site isn't a welfare gesture to humanity. The vgc platform lives through the members and contributors. They want us, they need us, we need them, we demand certain things.

I would say that assessment is somewhat inaccurate.

They want us? Sure I suppose it's nice to have a decent amount of members who also happen to be contributors.

They need us? That's questionable though I'd lean towards probably not. I registered with this site a few years back and didn't get actively involved with it until about a year ago. I'm sure had I not bothered, the site would have chugged along just fine without me. I'm also pretty sure that could be said for just about any member here besides the founders who originally conceived the site.  :P

We need them? Kinda, but not really? As far as mods/admins go, it's nice that they're able to turn around on edits as fast as they do. I've got a bunch in the queue now but it's no worry to me if they don't approve/reject them in that 24-hour window. It's nice when they do but I know they'll get around to it eventually.  :) As far as the coders/programmers go...I'm happy that they can add what they can, when they can. I know my cousin is still patiently waiting on the iPhone version of the mobile app.  :P

Also, It's not that I don't agree with you about there being a field for instruction books/inserts. I think in some instances it would be helpful for a game like say...Phantasy Star II on Genesis that came not only with an instruction manual, but a fold out map and a hint guide as well. While it would be nice to see a picture of stuff like that, the site currently isn't set up for it and while I'm no programmer, I can't imagine it's as easy as just sliding in another field just like that. Maybe it is, but I have to imagine that since, to date, we've not seen such then it probably involves overhauling the code of the site. Again...not a programmer so I'm just basing that on anecdotal evidence.  ;)

We demand certain things. Demand? Really? Look, I've contributed THOUSANDS of edits here, I've added in dozens of console and PC games as well as whole swaths of Interactive Figures and never once have I ever felt that I should demand anything from the Mods/Admins. It just boggles my mind to think that anyone on here has the gumption to demand anything.  :o

Totally normal. It's a normal giving and taking relationship. So when I as a contributor start to complain about technical limitations or administrative arbitrariness I am automatically an ungrateful asswipe?
You can't be serious.

As gf78 pointed out, the context/tone of your responses could be construed as abrasive. That's the vibe I got anyway. I checked your profile out, it shows you've got the 250 edits badge. I've seen you add in new titles that weren't previously in the database as well as point out dupes that need removal. Good job on that. At this point you can keep up the good work while working in the confines/parameters of how the site is currently set up and hope for the best that at some point your idea gains traction and gets added to the site. If not then perhaps this might not be the site you need and it would be time to find a "better" site...with blackjack and hookers.  :P

How about some quadruplicate listings?  :P

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALS: Confrontation

Original: http://vgcollect.com/item/25829
Dupe 1: http://vgcollect.com/item/91175
Dupe 2: http://vgcollect.com/item/96995
Dupe 3: http://vgcollect.com/item/96996

96995 and 96996 yes.
25829 is the Headphone bundle version
91175 is the standalone version

However, 25829 that artwork is for a box. I do not know if the case itself has that label or if it looks like the artwork shown on 91175. I also do not know if it was sold in a stand-alone configuration, but since you can buy it online (such as TRU) by itself, it may actually have been released separately.

I remember there being a headset bundled release back from when I worked for GS but I don't recall a stand alone version for sale. Then again it's been 7 years since I worked for the Evil Empire and the memories are a little bit hazy.  :P

At the very least we can settle for a triplicate listing.  ;)
