Site Feedback / Re: Feature Request: Main Site BST additions

rofl.  You're like one of the only people he follows.

Anyway, if you add stuff to any list via the move feature, it doesnt show up in the feed.

It's fair in a way. I've got 20K edits and there's bound to be some bad info that gets put in. I try for accuracy but sometimes he can be SO.DAMN.METICULOUS. over titles with the most slightest variance. There'd be a single entry for a Genesis release that's missing the barcode so I enter it because I just picked it up. Trip comes along and sees it and goes "OH! The picture of the entry has a copper official Sega seal and the barcode you entered is for the GOLD seal version! I'ma change that, make a new entry and let you know!"  :o

That's one of the the limitations of the site that does annoy me is the inability to list all variants into a single entry. I want to add Super Mario Bros. 3 to my collection and it's like "Ah...did you mean 3-screw or 5-screw Mario, with his hand under the logo and the gold Seal of Approval or the white, also the outer box having text in just English or English and French and having the sticker for the Domino's Pizza promotion that was only on the shrinkwrap or the one that denotes NES Satellite compatibility?!?"

On some fields I kind of just gave up the fight and let others get yelled at for it, like LRG/SRG/SLG/PA release dates. I figured barcodes would be safe but no, those too have gotten me an e-mail.  :P

And before anyone thinks I'm bagging on Trip, it's completely the opposite. The guy's super dedicated to the site and while super meticulous about his method, it's only for the overall good and should be applauded for such. I mean, I only got involved with doing edits because the site was lacking in Skylanders entries and it kind of steamrolled from there.  :P

At this point there's enough hands in the cookie jar that I could probably just add games when I get them and be done with it but my OCD kicks in when I see blank fields on entries and I happen to enjoy fully fleshed-out entries. 95% of the edits get through unscathed at least.  8)

It was a preorder from Strictly Limited Games in Germany (I think) that was originally supposed to ship at the end of last year, but it kept getting pushed back due to COVID.
It's not covid, they're just incompetent.

It took them forever and a day to get my Sisters Royale purchase to me. After a little runaround and blaming it on COVID I came to find out they put the damn package on a f'ing boat.  >:(

I finally got the package after almost two months but now that's made me SUPER hesitant to spend any more money with them.  :-\

I must not be following anyone that adds items to sell list then...

Then again, I only follow people who have been seen adding things to the db incorrectly, or I see people with an item with a watermark picture in their collection sig. Now anyone will know why I might be following them... it is to fix bad entries that show up in the Feed.  ;)

Well that's slightly disheartening...  :P

Site Feedback / Re: How do i unfollow myself...?
« on: June 04, 2021, 02:19:51 am »
While users can follow their own account if capitalization is swapped out in the url, users will also see the Follow button on profiles they're already following under the same conditions. However, if one accepts the prompt, the account is actually unfollowed.

For example, if someone is already following /dhaabi and goes to /Dhaabi, the Follow button will appear again, but clicking it will actually unfollow /dhaabi.

Nice! I'm rather glad this was figured out. Now I can look at my feed and see what all I've added to Collection or moved to/from Wish List.  ;D

the original 1989 Gameboy played all it's game in in green and black sprites, the Gameboy color should have been like the Gameboy Advance, and the Gameboy Advance should have been like a more like a handheld version of the Nintendo 64,

IF I had lived to see BOTH a handheld like an SNES AND a Nintendo 64 both on the market, now that would Be even more awesome.

Why didn't Nintendo ever make a handheld version of the Nintendo 64?

The RK2020?

I just looked that up and that looks like just a bootleg product and not a Nintendo product, why Nintendo? why?

(edit) can anyone tell me if there was ANY handheld version of the 5th Console generation? since the PSP was basically a portable 6th generation PS2 held held console

You DID live to see a portable SNES and N64, they were the Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS. Did you even play these systems?  ???  ::)

Here...

and

Both of these games are technically comparable/superior to their SNES/N64 counterparts. Don't know what a RK2020 is but if you're blaming Nintendo for a bootleg product that sounds about par for the course.  :P

As an old fart, enjoy this song from 1970... Give Me Just A Little More Time by the Chairmen of the Board    :P

We can dissect all the technicalities and minutia like that, but I won't budge from what I said. Comparatively, Québec's independence referendum is pretty much like Puerto Rico's status referendum, which happen to be an utter waste of time (and money). Just like Puerto Ricans wanting independence or statehood won't see either happen in their lifetime, the same can be said about Québécois' rally for sovereignty. Red tape, that's the name of the game.

It's also worth mentioning that Québec's desire for independence has been on a decline for a while now (as far as I've read). But again, whether a subset wants it or not sadly has little importance because it won't happen, at least not in our lifetime.

Are you saying that Parti Quebecois is slacking in its fight against the imperialist British-born colonial dogs?! Surely not!  :P

(I honestly don't have a dog in that fight whatsoever, I just remember the last time the independence thing came up, PQ were the ones making the most noise and got a lot of coverage)

Puerto Rico is always going to be a quagmire. It SHOULD be a state but there's too many who like the current setup of being "apart but also a part", especially (corrupt) politicians on the island. I mean, they got shafted pretty hard during that hurricane and got little to no help from the dunce who was in office at the time but at least you ain't gotta pay no federal taxes amirite?  :o

OG pacman is boring imo

Blasphemy! You're a heathen!

All kidding aside, true, Pac-Man helped revolutionize the medium.

Burn the heretic!  ;D

I do get what he's saying though I also understand the comment is made from someone in 2021 who may or may not have been around in 1980 and experienced gaming as it was back then. It hits differently for me I guess being an old fart who was around back then.  :P

- Answering to @Flashback2012

Since the first day I seen Pac-Pix back then in the 2000s, I thought it was a pretty clever concept also based on something a lot of us will relate, like drawing a humble Pac-Man sketch.
I remember one of the ports for MS.Pac-Man for the NES included the turbo mechanics as well an ending, and it make the concept funnier.

Thank you for sharing a pic of your Pac-Man collection, It´s pretty great.

Derp...I forgot there was a DS game with the same name. Pacpix is/was a member/mod-admin on here. I'm pretty sure school/life got in the way of things and I haven't seen him post here in a little bit (shows his last login around April of this year but no new posts for about 2 years now). Maybe we can throw some power-pellets inside a pentagram and summon him back here.  :P

Anywho, back onto the subject matter...one particular "holy grail" of mine is to own a Coleco Pac-Man table top. We had one when I was a kid and I'd love to own one again.  :) Now that I have my Arcade1Up unit set up, I'd set it on top of it for the whole "Don't talk to me or my son ever again!" meme.  :P

And speaking of incompetence, with a smidgen of shamelessness for good measure...

How much were they asking for it again, $145? What a deal...

What back of box is that?

Edit: Derp I see it now...I saw the logo for Cotton and was like "wait, when did they put that out and how did I miss it?!"

It's too bad Pacpix isn't around to contribute to this thread.

I've always been a Pac-Man fan (a Pac-Maniac if you will). My favorite one to play is the sped-up Ms. Pac-Man though finding a port of it outside of MAME seems next to impossible as Namco doesn't care for it.

Here recently I picked up one of those Arcade1Up machines off of Facebook which was for the 40th Anniversary of Pac-Man. It's nice but I was in Best Buy yesterday and saw they released a new one just recently called the Legacy Edition. It has all the games mine does + more AND the marquee lights up (mine does not).  :P

Anywho, I have one of those Ikea Detolf glass display cases and one of the shelves is dedicated to Pac-Man (the other three being Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Mickey Mouse & Friends, and Superman). Here's a pic I took late last year...

I've got a lot more stuff and could have just about filled the whole case with Pac-Man merch but wanted to have just a hint of diversity.  8)

Is this real life or just fantasy?

59
Thanks! Not only that, but also the console + games (except for Twisted) are in excellent condition, the boxes are just mint and the console has no scratches at all. I'm actually going to sell some of those games, I'm only keeping about half of it. No the other model is not an FZ-10, it's something much more sought after.

Selling eh?  8)

As for the sought after...hmmm...maybe a Goldstar or Sanyo unit? I always wanted the 3DO Blaster card for my computer but that was a pipe dream back then.  :P

I would just buy a Genesis Mini. Costs about as much but you get Wily Wars plus and whole ton of other great games. Plus that's actually licensed by Sega.

I had the chance late last year to get one for half of MSRP and passed because I had already overspent. Now that I've been on the hunt for one, there's nary any to be found and I'm not wanting to pay full price on the ones I do find. A few months ago I found a lot on FB Marketplace that had it, a TG16 mini, and like 3 other Mini systems. On the way there the guy remembers he sold the Genesis Mini to someone else.  ::) Just last week we were at a flea market and I spied the box for the Genesis mini, asked to look at it and noticed it was missing one of the controllers.  :P

I had a sliver of hope that this week might be light/non-existent after last week's bloodbath but who am I kidding, this is LRG and if they're not putting out 3-4 releases a week then why are they even putting stuff out amirite?!  :o
