Video Game Database Discussion / Help clean out "THE"
« on: April 09, 2016, 12:41:44 pm »
As many of you know, database entries cannot begin with the word "the."
I've gone through the database and found a boat load of THE games. I need help finding all the matching duplicates. If there is no duplicates, rename the item to follow the style guide.

If you plan on helping I recommend making a claim on a range of entries you plan on completing. This way people don't end up doing work that as already been done, and step on each others toes. Post your claim in this thread. Post your found duplicates in the official duplicate thread. Once you're done with your staked out games edit your post notifying everyone that your section is done.

EDIT: First list is complete. Thanks for your work peoples!
EDIT: Found a few more. See below.

Classic Video Games / High school retro game class
« on: April 08, 2016, 12:37:44 pm »
I'm running a small Video Game Appreciation class at my school. We go through the ages, working our way up to modern games. I play whatever interesting documentaries I can find (mostly G4's Icons) and bring in any historically significant games I might have.
Since I don't have many Wood age games I used Atari Vault on steam to demonstrate early arcade games.
Now that we're getting into 8bit games what games should we look into? Any suggestions?

Video Game Auction Watch / EBAY deals! presented by bad@chaos
« on: October 03, 2015, 07:57:17 pm »
In this thread I'm going to be posting anything interesting I find on ebay for a good price. I comb through sellers and categories almost daily and I come across great stuff I just don't have the spare cash laying around to makes bids or offers. I want to pass these finds onto you guys/gals!

First item I'd like to share is the NES Hands Free controller!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-NES-Hands-Free-Controller-complete-never-used-Ultra-Rare-Holy-Grail-/111779607670?hash=item1a06957476
As the title suggests, the "holy grail" of NES accessories has been spotted on ebay. The seller is asking a silly amount, but it's really cool to see the item in NEW condition.

Update: Item didn't sell and was reposted: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121786558418

Modern Video Games / Yoshi, Bowser, Toad controllers coming to US!
« on: September 20, 2015, 11:15:30 am »
Up until now Japan was the only place to get all these color variants. I first noticed these were being sold on Nintendo's online store. After looking around it looks like Gamestop is also going to be selling these as well. Kind of funny how long it took these to come over here seeing as the Yoshi wiimote had been out in Japan since May 2014 and the Bowser & Toad came out March 2015. Anyways, here are the links to the different controllers:

Gamestop:
Toad (9/11)
Bowser (9/11)
Yoshi (10/16)

Marketplace / Orange region modded GameCube - SOLD
« on: August 21, 2015, 12:31:51 am »
This item has sold. Thanks for the interest.

For sale is my modified orange Nintendo GameCube. No cables or AC adapter are included. (US adapters are compatible however.) Console is in good condition. Only minor scuffs and scratches are present. The largest bit of 'damage' is on the carrying handle. See images. I’m getting rid of this item only because I just bought a complete in box unit that was in slightly better condition.

Image Gallery:
As most of you know the orange variant was only released in Japan. As a result they only play NTSC-J games. But not this one! I’ve modified the motherboard so it can be toggled between North American and Japanese modes via a switch.  My goal was to keep this unit as original looking as possible. The region switch pokes out of the rear vent so that way I didn’t have to cut any holes in the casing and ruin its appearance.

Here is a video of how I preformed the mod. Note that the console used in the video is what you’ll be getting.
https://youtu.be/FlKMq3xHzwc

To use system first select the region by moving the switch down for American or up for Japan. Insert software and power on console. It’s that easy. To test: hold the A button down on player 1 while powering on to go the system’s main menu. Once there the text will either be in English or Japanese, depending on mode you set it to.

I am asking 65 US dollars, shipped. 70 for Canada. If you’re in Europe I’d have to get an estimate. Payments must be PayPal. Upon arriving I will grant you a 7 day return period. To receive refund you must pay for return shipping.

General / June 2015 - Recently Added to Collection/Recently Purchased
« on: June 01, 2015, 12:03:04 am »
Wow June already!! Let's kick things off:

Funny enough I actually ordered this lot all the way back on May 6 and it finally arrived Saturday. Super Smash Brothers (x3), Super Mario 64 (x2), Mario Party 2, Mario Kart 64, Mario Tennis, Baku Bomberman 2, F-Zero X, Paper Mario, Star Wars Episode I Racer, and Doshin the Giant for GameCube.

Funny how a lot of Japanese Nintendo manuals are often more colorful or more detailed than the box cover. -At least on more modern systems anyhow.
