I kinda doubt it's going to be set within just the city though.

The city is going to be the main focus or just the hubworld sure, but I highly doubt it's going to be just that.

Unless they mispoke, they very specifically said on at least twitter, "...a new adventure set entirely within Lumiose City...".  It's possible they could have some stuff just outside the city, but doing such a specific area could be very samey unless there's something to mix it up.

Well that was shockingly less than I was expecting to see lol A new Legends isn't bad though and that it'll be next year is good.  I feel like them having no games coming out this year is maybe giving credence to the Switch 2 March 2025 talk, because a new Pokemon game in the launch window would be notable.

Apparently the new Legends is set entirely within a city, I know very little about X and Y, but...This seems like they are maybe going to try for a smaller open world setting perhaps? I don't know, I feel like that would only work if they really densely packed in what you can do there, otherwise it'll get very samey and kinda boring.  I saw some people jokingly call it "GTA, but Pokemon", but again, I have very low expectations for this.  We'll see I guess.

11 - Helldivers 2 (PC 2024) - ENDLESS - Since the battle for democracy is never-ending, I'll count my couple hours into it for now.  I actually tried to play this a week or two ago, but I would have crashes with every mission.  I refunded it and right after I did, they came out with bug fixes.  Was gonna wait for my new PC when I hopefully get it in a month or two to jump back in, but I've seen so much on the game, I really wanted to play.  Seems good now, mostly just done a handful of solo missions to learn the game and haven't had any issues.

Overall this is a very straightforward but fun game that really understand how to create an over the top horde battle experience.  From the chunky weaponry, to the excessively violent warfare, to the very satisfying explosions, all done with the ability to completely annihilate your team if you aren't careful, which is definitely part of the fun.  Its actually a decent time solo, though I will be jumping into randoms eventually since that's such an important part of the experience, which honestly, not something I do often as team heavy games I prefer to have friends to do that with.

The games vibes are fun too, the Paul Verhoeven styled satire slathered over everything, it's pretty funny that the best Starship Troopers game isn't based on that brand.  And with the Automatons as another enemy to fight, it's basically the best Terminator game set in the future war lol

I think this is going to be a pretty solid casual fun game I play when I want something to just go nuts with.

It's abit of a bad habit that I have to get across that I'm being more lighthearted about stuff since it can be hard to get across certain tones on the internet.  Been on the internet for way too long lol

I get it; old habits die hard. Like I said, it was just an observation. I actually had a friend in high school who spent so much time playing online games that he would say "lol" whenever he found something funny or amusing. It was kind of weird at first, but we eventually got used to it, although another one of our friends would say something along the lines of, "Why are you saying it? Just chuckle or something!"

Oh yeah, I've seen that before too, I'm definitely not someone to do it in real life, it just works well in a shorthand way online.  I always found it weird to otherwise type "Haha" or anything like that, to get a laugh across online, as for some reason, that just reads awkward to me, no clue why.

By the way, and this is just an observation, so there's no need to take it to heart or anything, but you type "lol" quite a lot. ...Well, I guess we could mark that as the actual non-sequitur.

Elvis - Randomly decided to watch this, I don't have any strong feelings for him as an artist, and most of what I know about him is just general pop culture stuff, so I can't say what the film does right or wrong as a biopic, though it seemed well received.  It does feel strange having the movie kinda handle the narrative from the point of view of Parker, a problematic figure in Elvis life, but it could be said that any embellishment the stories might've made, could be seen as spin by Parker perhaps.  Not that they surgar coat who he was, they very clearly put the light on him as opportunist determined to milk Elvis for all he could.

That stuff aside, it was a good watch, very stylish with editing and such, to the point that its so over the top feeling, at least earlier in the film, that it felt close to parody for me.  I don't know, it's like you watch a few of the parody biopics like Weird Al or Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, and they hit on the cliche's of biopics, so you notice them more, but this one does a lot to stand out, it's trying to be really out there while having some very heartfelt moments.  Butler was great as Elvis too, I thought he nailed it.  Hanks I think did fine, though it's hard to just not see Hanks in a fat suit lol Though looking it up, it's weird they gave Parker such a noticeable accent.  I looked up an interview from the 80's and he didn't even have one really and there's audio from from the 50's with a little bit of the accent, but not as much as I felt Hanks gave it.  Abit much.

Overall an interesting and entertaining watch.

10 - Sons of the Forest (PC 2024) - BEAT - With the game out of EA, I dove back to see what was added and improved since I originally played it.  It was pretty barebones back then, mostly just the fundamental gameplay, location, and visuals worked out and then some other general features.  I think they overall did a good job, but there's a lot of cut corners here.  The survival aspect of the game is very basic, it really needed a lot more depth, along with needing to drastically overhaul the amount of animals and supplies you can find.  There's a custom game mode difficulty that allows you to change a ton of stuff, but the normal mode should've been way better.  I just don't think it got enough playtesting as I would've made normal have weaker enemies, but harsher supply and animal cut.

The story is there, it's sorta similar to the first one where you get bits here and there, you piece together stuff from the past through notes and such, to figure out what happened, and I think it mostly works, but it's not a strong narrative.  The first game did it a little better as there was more of a drive to it being a father looking for his son, rather than who your character is who just isn't really important to the story.  He's not a no name guy, but it kinda feels that way.

There's other things I could call out here and there, as I think the game needed another few months of cleaning up and a few more additions, but overall I liked it.  There are better survival games out there, but I had enough fun with this one, I just hope they are going to continue adding to the game, give me a reason to go back as there more than a few areas on the map they could add stuff to.

I wasn't planning to play Sons of the Forest this week, but I saw it hit 1.0 out of the blue (to me at least), so figured I got nothing to play (if I ignore the backlog for the moment) till FF7 next week.  I "beat" it once already back when it was super unfinished, a year ago, missing a ton of its content as I thought the game was supposed to be further along than it was, but it's so far been pretty good.  I think my only real negative so far is that the games survival aspect is really light still, I don't need it to be Green Hell levels of survival, but it's pretty basic and because the games item respawn is very loose, I think on the ground items that aren't in boxes respawn upon game restart and possibly even sleeping, not 100% sure on that, but its really easy to get all the supplies you need pretty easily.

Oh well, will see how the story goes at least, that was almost non-existent back when I last played.

Battlefront Collection is neat, a definite PC buy for me, and Penny's Big Breakaway being a surprise release is fun.  That's about it though.

so if it didnt have the go mecanics you considered it better then fire red and leafgreen?

and honestly its not  an fun throwback at all they even removed the og rival  and made the game so dang easy  it makes  the diamond and pearl remakes  look HARD in compareison while you are overleveled that whole game for at least 10 levels

I never played those ones myself, I stopped with Yellow, but I said it in regards to the Switch games, so it could've been my favorite over Sword/Shield, Scarlet/Violet, BDSP, and possibly Legends, though would probably be neck and neck with New Pokemon Snap now that I think about it.

lol lets go doesnt count its an spinoff and an bad one at that  honestly not even worth 10 bucks

and eyah we got the diamond and pearl remakes and they are WORSE then the originals  they ruined it on my favorite generation which makes me realy sad:(

they couldnt even do the artstyle jsutice  gen 4 is ruugged and industrial and what style did they pick/ the chibi cute style literly the worst possible fit for gen 4

also they didnt add anything worthwhile  either. they arent the worst pokemon games by any emans but to me they are the biggest disapointment in the whole franchise

It still counts as a remake is all I'm saying lol Honestly, if Let's Go didn't have the "Go" mechanics, it probably would've been my favorite Pokemon game on the Switch, it's not amazing, but it's a decent nostalgic throwback to the original games...it's just plagued with obnoxious Pokemon Go mechanics that they should've had the option to turn off.

I doubt it is an remake we never got 2 remakes on the same system altough to be fair we never got 2 generations on 1 system before gen 4 and 5 either.

black and white are weird though since they didnt have any old pokemon so i wonder how that would work.

also after the disaster remakes of gen 4 I wouldnt want an remake ever agaian.

I  would be fine with a lot actualy I would love another legends game. or an REAL new pokemon mysteruy dungeon game.

or an sequel to concuest:)

I would love an pokemon rumble game as well I think those are realy fun too.

anywya  I hope mostly for an legends or mystery dungeon game

The Switch already has two remakes with Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee and Diamond/Pearl.

If these rumours are true

Oh...so we might be getting another awful looking remake lol I hate these pixel art games getting remade in a bland 3D style, like Link's Awakening was personally a pretty bad art choice for me, and then Pokemon was just like "We are going to do that too, but at a MUCH lower quality" lol It's why I'm interested in Cassette Beasts, because they do the classic pixel style, but with that Octopath Traveler 3D style backgrounds and it looks great.

This was a known thing to be coming up, they usually have one on "Pokemon Day", but funny enough, I'm more interested to see what comes out of this one than the Partner Showcase, out of sheer morbid curiosity.

Do we get a shallow, middling to bad, next generation (Pokemon Generation that is) release that may or may not, but most likely will flop in many of the same ways the last two mainline entries have, while still releasing it in an obnoxious double format that was never actually a good idea but is now horribly annoying? Do we get a shallow, middling, but mildly entertaining spinoff release that isn't great, but I kinda like despite its issues? Do we get a shallow, middling, remake with a boring art style that probably doesn't have all the content it should and doesn't bring anything all that interesting that is new? Or do we finally get New Pokemon Snap DLC, because I had absolutely charming time with that game and I have zero complaints with that release other than I wish they would give me more content, because I will pay for it? lol

Eh, I'm just a bitter old fan who stopped playing after Yellow and kinda hoped the Switch era would be so much better and great jumping back on point, but has mostly been middling to bad releases and New Pokemon Snap.  I would like to be surprised and something really great shows up at the event to make up for how terrible Scarlet/Violet was, but I just don't see it happening, it's not really possible unless it wasn't Game Freak making it and this new studio had a proper development run...but that might be too much to ask for, who knows.

Being a partner showcase, there's probably not gonna be too much that interests me here unless it's a complete out of nowhere surprise.    There's not even anything announced for Switch that I'm wanting that much this year.  Honestly the only thing I'd probably even want at the moment is just for them to finally put Twilight Princess HD on Switch lol Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll throw that in as a bonus.
