Encountered a weird problem with Breath of Fire 1 GBA

So I've been having a weird problem with my game and was curious if anyone else ever had this happen to them. It seems whenever I save and turn off my game it reverts to a way earlier save and it only seems to actually save as normal if I quicksave after I save at the Dragon Statue. I have no idea what causes it. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Maybe the save battery isn't quite dead, but is going dead.

Doesnt go off a battery. BoF 2 on gba does but my bettery in that one is still good

Yup made sure to pull it apart to make sure when i got it

Well fiddle sticks.  I had a copy that used to have graphical errors in it.  I bought it at my mom and pop game shop with out realizing it was a bootleg.  When I found out I was furious but I had no one to blame but myself for not knowing these things.  That was however my only idea as to what may have been wrong with yours.
