New Super Famicom game; Unholy Knight: The Darkness Hunter
« on: January 25, 2017, 01:37:40 pm »
A new Super Famicom game is coming out 30 march 2017; Unholy Knight: The Darkness Hunter. Its a 2D fighting game developed by former SNK employee who worked on title like King of Fighters in the late 90s. Im a big fan of the 90s SNK games and I'm getting that title for sure. I preorder my copy on NCSXshop... but seem to be sold out.

Anyone else interested?

I received the game last week. After playing few hours, I would say it`s a OK game, nothing great. Im a big fan of SNK, and since it created by former SNK staff I had great expectation. I get that game is running on the Super Famicom, not the Neogeo, but still there is flaw that have nothing to do with the console power.

Let`s start first with the good thing;
- Great artwork, character design, remind me of Darkstalkers.
- Nice character sprite
- Plenty of attacks, easy to imput, 4 button system like on Neogeo
- Nice manual coming with the game
- Option between japanese or english... but the translation is awful
- Mode story, versus and survival

The bad:
-Really bad music, same song for the first 5 stages, there is a option to cut the sound off, but it cut the attack noise and voices, I dont get the point of that option, I could just mute my TV and get the same result.
- Background are ugly, with no animation.
- Fighters animation not to great
- Box artwork is just wrong, look like some kind of anime porn art draw by a 13 years old boy. Im kind of embarrass to have that box display in my video game collection. I want to throw it in the garbage, but the game will loose value...
- Cheap cartridge, cheap plastic, the board is not fix properly inside.

Overall I saw lot better homebrew games out there, its a OK game. Its still nice to have something new for the SFC/SNES.
