Is your toilet seat cushioned or is it hard?

Their are pros and cons to each, but I like a cushioned seat.  It rips from time to time and you have to replace it but it makes up for it by being comfy for your bum.

Padded, but that's my wife's call. I wouldn't spring for a padded seat.

Well yes, having just replaced two in my house within the last week I'm pretty much what you'd call an expert.  While there are certainly pros and cons for both the hard (plastic and wood) and the soft (padded vinyl) let just expel my opinion.  There's a sanitary feeling with a cold seat.  This warm padded seat just doesn't convey a, "lets get down to business" attitude I expect.  In all seriousness you're likely to get more life out of the hard seats than the soft ones.  Yes, its true the hard ones tend to fail at the hinge but that's long after the vinyl ones fail in various other places.

speaking of toilets I once had a relative who rented a house with no toilet. I think he even had to buy it.

As far a toilet seats go the soft ones rip and stain easy but don't get extremely cold like the hard plastic one do. The wood ones crack easy and will pinch you. If you ever shopping for a toilet seat although the hard plastic ones can get vary cold I would recommend the either wood or plastic

Hard, and I think I prefer it that way. I've had cushioned seats in the past and always thought they felt wrong, not sure why though.

I don't care that much if the seat is cushioned or hard, but after living in Japan for almost a decade now, I can't imagine myself going back to the boring and frozen toilets most countries use...

..........why?  Planning on visiting?  Is this pertinent info to make your time here the most enjoyable.  

To answer your question though, I'm a hard ass and a hard ass requires a hard seat.   


Though to be fair my preference isn't for either.  I grew up without indoor plumbing so I got the joys of using an outhouse in both sweltering summer heat and sub-zero winters.  It sucked.
