Sega Spectrum?

So, a new image has started making the rounds. Here is the link to the story at Sega-Addicts (The place I get all of my news, current, and local events from  )

A peculiar image has been circulating the web recently that shows the Sega logo as well as an unknown logo and the single word “Spectrum”. The Japanese text translates to ”A new world of entertainment.” and carries the date of June 6th 2013.

Is it a new arcade board, some sort of new online service or maybe even some kind of new home console…? And where on Earth did this image come from (I still haven’t been able to find the original source I’m afraid)?

The original source is unknown, so it could be nothing. Also, SEGA has recently been known to have cryptic teasers that lead to almost nothing. They had sand dripping on a field announcing a date (it turned out to be the new Football Manager game  )

With the date being E3 (I read the date as June 12th not 6th), I bet it is going to be next gen system news. The logo almost looks like the windows logo (the bottom left pane moved to the top)... maybe something with XBox?

Of course, I'm hoping for a Dreamcast 2.... with Shenmue 3 as a launch title... and VMUs that play Genesis games...

What do you guys want it to be? What do you think it is?

I'd say a new arcade board, I don't think now is a good time for them to re-enter the console market, and I don't think their financial situation right now is good for that. If they do my mind would be blown and I'd buy it day one... but I don't think it's happening.
And I'd be fine with that since Sega makes badass arcade boards.

Yeah, I don't think it will be SEGA's own next gen system news (I would think something to do with one of the others). I thought an arcade board made sense. But E3 seems weird for an arcade board... Arcades aren't exactly global anymore and SEGA hasn't been doing much on that lately. TGS seems the better spot for that.

I'm not gonna lie I would love to see a new console! But I agree with the financial situation. But if they did and it was badass I would be on board with it! I really like Sega. I don't love all the korny stuff they make now but there were awesome games for some awesome Sega consoles(my opinion)

I would love it to be a new console as well, but I'm also doubtful.  I miss Sega and wish they hadn't made all those mistakes with the 32x, Sega CD and Saturn.  Kickstarter? ha

Latest news I heard on this is that Sega bought this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZX_Spectrum and are trying to re-release it again. Whether its true or not, I dont know. If so, its kind of a weird idea that I dont think would fly very well.

Sega would fail if they released a new console. Also, the fact that the current Sega is only a shell of what it used to be, the balls are long gone.
