Naming consistency among series
« on: January 13, 2015, 01:11:52 pm »
Hey guys, I am new here but am a long time lurker. Deciding to go ahead and finally add my collection.

Anyways, I have noticed a few game series that do not sort very well (ie together), due to the way these titles are submitted. Granted, I am sure some of these are intentional to keep true to the official title spelling. So my question is this, is it possible to allow duplicates in the sake of naming consistency for those OCD types (such as myself  ;))?

Some examples:

The DiRT series:

Current naming (Steam)
Colin McRae DiRT 2
DiRT
DiRT 3
DiRT Showdown

Proposed
DiRT
DiRT 2
DiRT 3
DiRT Showdown

James Bond games:

Current naming
007 Legends
007 Racing
007: Agent Under Fire
007: Blood Stone
007: Everything or Nothing
007: Nightfire
007: Quantum of Solace
007: Tomorrow Never Dies
007: World Is Not Enough, The
From Russia With Love
Goldeneye 007
Goldeneye 007 Reloaded

Proposed (using 007)
007: Agent Under Fire
007: Blood Stone
007: Everything or Nothing
007: From Russia With Love
007: Goldeneye
007: Goldeneye Reloaded
007: Legends
007: Nightfire
007: Quantum of Solace
007: Racing
007: Tomorrow Never Dies
007: World Is Not Enough, The

Another solution (which would require some changes to the site), would be to add a 'Sort Name' field to the games page, then allow us to sort by the 'Sort Name'. This would allow us to have an organized collection, while at the same time keeping the naming intact.

We use the official game name used by the publisher.

Consistency, unfortunately, is not a concern for them.
