The biggest issue is budgets. Consoles are expensive as hell. That's why we expect games to come out for them for a few years.
I think people are afraid that they'll HAVE to get the newest console to play the new games, and they don't want to have to drop a few hundred dollars every few years, and pay $60 a game, and pay for all the downloads (plus online gaming service monthly bills). Gaming is getting too expensive.
