Author Topic: Ten Popular Items Or Games You Own That 100 Or More People Own VGCollect  (Read 3796 times)

all stats the date of the posts for future reference

The purpose of this thread

to eventually see what is the most popular game or collectors item on this site.

(instructions for thread)
You don't need to look directly at other peoples collection to find this out, just look at your own collection. Simply  click on any game you have listed in your collection than look at the number of how many members have that that same exact item in the database item in their collection.

(rules)
1st choose 1 console or any device list per post.

My List and my console of choice for this first post is the Nintendo 64.

if your interested in participating please remember to give us the region version of the game. Especially if you plan on listing. if you are able to do this and it is safe to do so, than run 2 browser tabs of VGCollect one for the Post and the other for browsing your collection

It don't have to be a top ten because that would make this difficult, but please at least try to post a game version that is not already listed, that you own that at least 100 or more people own. to hopefully keep this thread interesting.

(In Case)
if you already have a game that has been listed. And you don't have anything else to list. than just add the most popular game, or item you do have. that a lot of other people have

My list for the Nintendo 64:

1: Legend of Zelda, The: Ocarina of Time (NA Version) (2135 Members)

Here is my list for Sega Saturn [NA]

405 - Virtua Fighter 2
323 - Daytona USA
213 - Fighting Vipers
147 - Fighters Megamix
138 - Daytona USA CCE
123 - NHL 97
102 - Black Fire
100 - Duke Nukem 3D
92 - Solar Eclipse
87 - NHL All-Star Hockey

It gets hard with games that are for multiple platforms to add them all up as it's still the same game just people buy it for the console they have.  I think mine must be Minecraft which I own for 5 different consoles lol.  It's the best selling single game of all time if you don't include tetris.  But here are a few others :)

Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt NES   (1,503 users for seal, 900 for no seal)
Mario Kart Wii (1,133 users)
Super Mario 64 (2,446 user)
GTA 5  (2,280+ users accross all platforms)
Super Mario Bros 3 (2,088 users)

PS1 (From someone from the UK...)
Final Fantasy VII - 431
Metal Gear Solid - 399
Final Fantasy VIII - 383
Final Fantasy IX - 337
Final Fantasy VI - 249
Resident Evil 2 - 229
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped - 219
Crash Bandicoot - 213
Tomb Raider 2 - 213
Spyro The Dragon - 177

Of course this data is a bit questionable considering how many different varients we have of European version listed on the site.

I'm also surprised how high on the list FF6 is considering it is a port and released later in the systems life.

Interestingly Dino Crisis 1 would be 11th which I'd have not guessed with 171

We did the math several years ago and found at the time, the game owned by the most users was Super Mario 64.  I think that was accounting for all variants across all regions though.  I’m curious to see if that has changed.

It actually might have been Super Mario World, now that I think about it. I can’t remember, it’s been a LONG time.
