Author Topic: Recommended Wired Xbox360 Controller From Microsoft Themselves  (Read 17143 times)

This is a Microsoft brand wired Xbox360 controller, I think I have the same one as in the picture below But I can't remember if mine is the same model it's sturdy, and well built, and works fine. :)

Now the wireless Xbox360 controllers I have also work fine. But I prefer the wired controller in the image above because I never have to worry about replacing AA batteries in my wireless Xbox 360 controller  each month. or week depending on how long I played on the Xbox 360

Halo 1 Combat Evolved has an issue with long tern use of most wired Xbox360 controllers, In the case that happened to me is eventually Halo 1 keeps on giving me a controller connection error, no matter what USB port I have the controller plugged into in my Xbox360.

The controller works fine outside of Halo 1 Combat Evolved but has compatibility issues when Halo 1 is played on an Xbox360 and even being played with the XboxOne with a wired XboxOne controller has the same issues with the Halo Master Chief collection

from what I read from other forums online

Just wanted to put my 2 cents in on this.. The Xbox controllers from original S to Xbox one are in my opinion the finest OEM controllers ever made. They just feel right and I think the quality sets them apart from all the rest. I used to think the SNES controller was great until the PS1 controller came along (with analogue). Then the Gamecube controller was excellent for a brief moment until Xbox. The way Xbox controllers fit the hand and work make them now the ones to beat, wired or wireless. Because the real mark of a great console is the tactile experience one gets from the controller in your hand, not the brand of the system. So I guess I agree?

I only use the Xbox 360 controller on the computer. Having never owned an Xbox of any sort, and limited playing time on a 360 (I played Oblivion at a co-worker's house once) I really do not like it. For what I use it for (pinball) it is fine, because I am just using triggers. For controllers with a stick on them, I am much more used to the arrangement on the PlayStation controllers.

It puts me into a weird place, now I will not play some games on PC such as third person games, because of the controller. Xbox 360 USB controllers work best on PC and controllers from other brands need to use an Xbox 360 controller emulator. There is some difference involved. Currently I have a PlayStation 2 controller connected and while it works fine on a Sony system, it isn't the same when emulated as an Xbox 360 controller. And unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any Xbox 360 controllers with the sticks in the middle. So I tend to just not play games that would work best with a controller outside of pinball games.

Yep. playstation controllers are a lot more common and the classic design goes back to the original. It was all I ever used for almost a decade and Logitech and Saitec made playstation clones for the PC even when Sony kept proprietary to its consoles. It is an iconic design. I must say however that the 360 controller was pushed hard as a PC alternative with actual PC specific wireless recievers and  wired versions. I think Microsoft eventually wants to combine xbox and PC into one platform, so they concentrated hard on making their own controllers more usable. I also have never broken an Xbox controller but have gone through many a Playstation controller. The reverse may be the case for others but that's just the luck I've had.
