Which franchise have you beaten the most games in?
« on: October 30, 2019, 12:45:51 pm »
I saw this question asked on another forum. I thought it would be fun to discuss here. This isn't counting the same game across different platforms.

For me, it's Mega Man. I've finished 31 Mega Man games.

Mega Man 3
Mega Man 4
Mega Man 5
Mega Man 6
Mega Man 7
Mega Man and Bass
Mega Man 8
Mega Man 10
Mega Man 11
Mega Man X
Mega Man X2
Mega Man X3
Mega Man X4
Mega Man X5
Mega Man X6
Mega Man X7
Mega Man X8
Mega Man X Command Mission
Mega Man Legends
Mega Man Zero
Mega Man Zero 2
Mega Man Zero 3
Mega Man Zero 4
Mega Man ZX

That would be the 'Musou' series (IE Dynasty Warriors and its brethren).

DW 2
DW 3
DW 4
DW 5
DW 5 Empires
DW 7
DW 7 Empires
DW 8
DW 8 Empires
Samurai Warriors 2
Samurai Warriors 4
Samurai Warriors 4 II
Warriors Orochi
Warriors Orochi 2
Warriors Orochi 3

It was a favourite series of mine, I'm still interested in the likes of Warriors Orochi 4, but the series peaked extremely early with Dynasty Warriors 3, the developers have buggered about with a few things like the combo system (hence why DW 6 isn't here) and an open world style (ditto DW 9). DW 3's massive roster of enemy types, huge battlefields and things like customisable bodyguards were amazing at the time it was released. Instead of figuring out how to make the battlefields more dynamic (like allowing you to bolster allied officers' forces with some of your own units so they're not constantly needing rescuing, whereas you have less support, for instance), instead it's the same tired formula but with hardly any allied soldiers on the battlefield and dispoable enemy fodder. In DW8 you could sweep up non-officer enemies like you were brushing the step, there was even a button to mash for that attack. Nah, it's lost its way, badly.

Pretty much Mega Man and Pokémon.

I don't know.

There are a lot of franchises that I've only played a couple of games.  I wouldn't be surprised if the answer for me is Assassin's Creed with 14 games.  Never beat Origins, and haven't played the other chronicles games, Freedom Cry, nor Odyssey.

Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed II
Assassin's Creed III
Assassin's Creed IV
Assassin's Creed Unity
Assassin's Creed Rogue
Assassin's Creed III Liberation
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Assassin's Creed Bloodlines
Assassin's Creed Altair's Chronicles
Assassin's Creed II: Discovery
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China

If you count the spin offs of the Mario franchise it might beat that, but are we really considering Mario Kart/Party/Golf/Tennis/Sports/Dr. Mario/etc part of the Mario franchise?

It might end up being Mega Man also for me, primarily because I went through both of the collections for it, including Mega Man Legends 1, 2, and Mega Man 11.  This number is likely to go way up with the Mega Man Zero collection which I never played before lol

Mega Man - 19 games

Legend of Zelda might be next with like a dozen games or so if we count Hyrule Warriors and Cadence of Hyrule, but that one gets abit tougher as I don't remember if I beat like Minish Cap and Oracles.

Other than fighting games such as the Street Fighter and The King of Fighters franchises, I'd say probablye the Metal Gear/Metal Gear Solid franchise. Including the original MSX games, the only ones I've never cleared (actually, I haven't even played) were Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Metal Gear Survive.

Fire Emblem for sure:
Fire Emblem Dark Dragon and the Sword of Light
Fire Emblem Gaiden
Fire Emblem Mystery of the Emblem
Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War
Fire Emblem Thracia 776
Fire Emblem Sword of Seals
Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones
Fire Emblem Path of Radiance
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn
Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon
Fire Emblem New Mystery of the Emblem
Fire Emblem Awakening
Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright
Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation

A close second is either Megami Tensei or Mario

Depends on what you’d consider a Mario game.  I’ve played and beaten all the core titles except for Sunshine.  I’ve also dabbled in the spin-off s.

Aside from the count me as another for Mega Man.  I’ve beaten 1-11, X1-3, and Zero.
