Help with PS2 game title

Hi guys and sorry if this is not the correct section to post.

I have been trying for a while to find the title of a game which I played with a friend ages ago, most likely via one of those demo discs for PS2 that they were giving away with magazines.
I don't remember the story unfortunately, but I remember that you play as a funny cartoon-ish man in a Japanese (or Chinese) town where all the characters look like Funko Pop figures, with massive heads and you need to go around the town, meeting people and doing tasks for them to like you.
I looked around but can't seem to find anything that matches the description.
I know I am not giving you much  ::) , but any idea of what it could be?

I was ninja'd while checking to see if the game was part of a demo.

Nonetheless, yeah, based on your description, the game you're looking for definitely sounds like Chulip.

Fun little game. In all honesty, simulation-type games are not my thing, but when I got it in a lot and play-tested it, two hours went by in a flash. I like weird, zany games, so I ended up keeping it.

As a non sequitur, speaking of weird games, I'd like to add Mister Mosquito to my collection sometime soon.

Surprisingly fun game. Fun barbershop quartet styled soundtrack to go along with the quirkiness of it all, too.

Never realized that! I picked it up for peanuts way back when. So much has changed in the past several years.

A buddy of mine recommended it to me back when PS2 games were available and cheap at GS, got it for 99 cents.  It's such a weird game.

I actually got hassled by a part time GS employee for buying it back when I did. He looked at the other guy and was like "Who buys this?" "Do we really have PS2 games?"... and he was serious. Don't think I ever saw him there again.
