Author Topic: Special characters not formatted correctly when viewing collection  (Read 540 times)

When watching "Pokémon Brilliant Diamond / Pokémon Shining Pearl Dual Pack" (https://vgcollect.com/item/209083) and "Pokémon Legends: Arceus [DK][FI][NO][SE]" (https://vgcollect.com/item/215447) in my collection they are named "Pokémon Brilliant Diamond / Pokémon Shining Pearl Dual Pack" and "Pokémon Legends: Arceus [DK][FI][NO][SE]".
When watching them in the general database they both show the title correctly.

The names of both titles have been edited recently, and I believe it's some issue with how the "é" in Pokémon was input. I just tried to edit the Pokémon Legends: Arceus entry, but it was rejected.

Your edit submission was rejected because the entry name is correct when viewed from the entry page. However, there is an existing bug that is affecting special characters at times which results in these characters appearing like this when viewed from users' accounts.

Yes, I remember experiencing something similar in the past, but an edit in that case fixed the issue. What I did at that time was copy the text from an existing database entry (which was showing correctly when viewing it in my collection) and pasting that into the edit field. Would you mind trying to do an edit yourself copying "Pokémon" from another entry and see it fixes it? Thanks :)

This is an encoding issue that has nothing to do with the item.

Note these particulars:
- not all entries in collection view are showing the wrong formatting
- entry looks fine when viewed outside of collection, as seen in the links in OP.

Here is a screenshot of this issue in context:

This post was split from the Listing Errors thread.

Thanks for moving the topic to the correct forum section.

This one also shows incorrectly when viewing in collection: https://vgcollect.com/item/133980
Says "Might & Magic: Heroes VI (Special Version)" instead of "Might & Magic: Heroes VI (Special Version)"
