Retro and semi-retro game compilations you want to see
« on: March 12, 2022, 02:19:27 pm »
I'm a massive fan of retro games getting modern rereleased in collections with similar games, whether they're from the same series, were on a specific retro console together, or whatever. It had me thinking what retro or semi-retro game compilations would you absolutely die if they ever announced?

BTW, What I mean by semi-retro are games that were released in that weird limbo period between what is confidently called retro now and slightly more modern stuff that some might now consider retro just yet. Let's just say semi-retro is Gen 6 (PS2, XBOX, GC, and Dreamcast) and Gen 7 (PS3, 360, Wii).

I'd say gen 6 is most definitely retro no question about it.

Gen7 has semi online patches plus the grapics on especially the non nintendo side are pretty comparable to nowadays. The differences grapicly ain't huge here anymore, for those you could argue the limbo position.  With gen 6 you can tell it's still in the early days of 3D. most games with some exceptions can still look rough around the edges. gen 7 has comparable grapics to current gen. it is the last gen where we got a sizable upgrade in visuals.

This one is cheating a bit since it isn't technically retro (well kind of), but it would be awesome if Nintendo did a compilation of Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D for the Switch.

Give me a goemon collection

especially since most entries never came out in the west and lack official translation. 2d and 3d era.

Shining force collection, especially since some later entries where japan only.

And perhaps a sega saturn collection with the more niche titles such as Psychic assasin.

Compilations of More niche arcade games that never got a home console release can never hurt

If you like retro collections, I suggest getting an Evercade. Every release is either a retro collection or an indie-game collection. And every release is only $20.

For years, I've wanted a PlayStation 2 Tales of Collection that would include:
  • Tales of Destiny 2
  • Tales of Rebirth
  • Tales of Symphonia
  • Tales of Destiny DC

And if they tossed in some bonus games like the Narikiri Dungeons or the 2D iteration of Hearts, then that would be icing on the cake.
