Yeah, some of those early scenes would have been terrifying with the old design.  Can you imagine that face peeking in your window? :o

Funny you would say that.

I’m going to assume you did not mean this the way I interpreted it...  :'(

Giving away as little as possible... in the beginning there's  a scene where he's peeking into a family's home through a window.

That’s why I said “in those early scenes”.  I’ve seen the movie.  Your comment came across as a dig at me lol

It was a misreading of your comment for some reason my brain ignored the "early scenes" part making me think it was just a random comment about the old design looking through a window that coincidentally coincided with a scene in the movie. My bad.

Also I was thinking how creepy that scene would have been a few minutes before that. So it was funny you would say that, cause i was just thinking the same thing at that time.

All good!  I didn’t really think you were saying anything else, it just read strangely to me.

I actually leaned over to me girlfriend during that scene and said exactly what we are now.  It would have made it horrifying

Creed II

This one actually does a few things better than the first movie - notably the fight scenes.  They feel appropriately larger than life, where in the first film everything felt intimate, which was fine most of the time, but even in the last showcase it felt like the inside of a High School gym.  I was hesitate when they first announced this movie was bringing back the Drago's, just because it felt like the new series might have already been out of ideas, but it really pulls it off.  By taking elements from Rocky II-IV, rather than just the overblown fourth movie, it manages to keep the same formula and still feel fresh.  Unfortunately that does also make parts of the movie feel rushed.  Still one of the better movies in the series.

Skyfall

I've been doing a slow rewatch of the Daniel Craig Bond films in preparation for No Time to Die, and while its pretty obvious that Quantum of Solace is a low tier Bond, Casino Royale and Skyfall are both top notch, and I've never quite been able to choose between them.  Royale is more tightly plotted, where Skyfall starts to fall apart a little if you start to dig into it a little, but Royale also drags in the last 30 minutes or so, especial on repeat viewings.  However, thanks to Roger Deakins photography, Skyfall is easily the best looking Bond ever.

Had a freebie ticket for the movies, so figured for the heck of it, I'd go see the new Sonic movie hearing that it was good and I thought it was fine.  Had they not changed the design for Sonic, I think this movie would've bombed or at least not do as well as it's a pretty generic film.  The humor was good enough and Jim Carrey just being a complete cartoon character was entertaining, but this movie is basically every "Alien comes to earth, befriends a human" plot line that has come before and much like the Detective Pikachu movie, they showed almost everything in the trailer, which is always annoying.  Of which, Detective Pikachu is the better movie as it just gets across its world better and its way more interesting.

Didn't plan for a Nazi based marathon this past few days, but with Jojo Rabbit and Hunters, Jojo Rabbit is definitely the better thing to watch lol Where I talked about issues of tone with Hunters, Jojo understand what it is, and it only takes a turn from the comedy to something more serious when it kinda wants to really drive something home and it can get dark, but the humor in it is great, and everyone in it is great. I do recommend this one.

I think the next few days of movie watching will basically be just catching up on 2019 movies I missed, so Zombieland 2, Frozen 2, Parasite, Knives Out, and probably some others.

When I first heard about this movie I was very interested. It had a very, very strong 90s vibe, which it absolutely should since it's supposed to take place during that era. I never got around to seeing it when it came out, and missed my chance when it was at Redbox. I finally was able to watch it today after finding out it was free on Prime, and well, umm...

This movie is essentially the modern remake of Kids, but is supposed to take place during that same period of time, but in Cali instead of New York. I will start off by saying, I hate the movie Kids. While I get that it's a fairly real look at how some kids and teens live, it just makes me feel ill, like literally physically ill. Maybe it's because the way kids and teens are depicted in that film was in stark contrast to my life at that point, but it just makes me feel terrible watching it.

I pretty much had the same experience watching Mid90s. The movie is about a 12-year old kid who attempts to escape his dysfunctional, abusive household by hanging out with a group of skateboarding misfits. The movie then becomes a coming of age film about the main character learning how to fit in with this group while dealing with substance abuse, drugs, sex, and pretty much all the other fun things you get to deal with growing up. Meanwhile there's plenty of adolescent drama, household dysfunction, and other nasty shit until the end of the movie. While the movie didn't have the tragically sad ending I thought it would, it was arguably worse be being somewhat unsettling and unresolved.

Aside from my personal feelings about Mid90s, I just thought it was kinda boring too. There were more than a few times when I considered turning it off due to my interest waning, as well as the movie being pretty predictable and cliche at times. I did find the cinematography to be pretty good, as well as the sort of grainy, raw look they were going for. The movie did mostly feel authentic to the look and feel of the mid 90s, albeit looking very different than how my life looked. I felt like there was an over emphasis of trying to nostalgia bait people will all sorts of 90s props and references, especially in the beginning, although I guess they just really wanted to hook the viewer into knowing exactly when this movie was taking place.

Overall I really didn't enjoy watching this film, but I guess it was mostly for personal reasons more than anything. If you like the movie Kids you will probably really like Mid90s. For me though, I like to remember the much more innocent, lighthearted, and fun memories of the 90s I personally had, like going to play Lasertag with my friends, staying up all night and playing Goldeneye 007, watching Nickelodeon, and having birthday parties at Dave and Busters with my friends and family. While I had some very difficult times growing up, this movie really makes me realize how incredibly lucky, privileged and fortunate I was and still am. Many people had it way harder than me, and this movie is a very real reminder of that.

The Invisible Man teetered on the edge of greatness, but then it had some really idiotic character decisions in the third act.  Still good, though.

Been awhile since I've watched like a proper mystery movie, I don't even think I know what the last one would've been that built purely around a straight up mystery with no action or thriller elements.  I think this is a real good movie though.  Not quite as amazing as it seemed like I saw others saying, but it's a real solid bit of story and characters and all the actors here are great.  Like I don't think I've seen Chris Evans in something other than a Marvel film since like Scott Pilgrim in 2010 and he's great as this asshole character or Daniel Craig not playing Bond who gets to put on this very "Southern Gentleman" drawl the whole time.

Watched King Kong vs Godzilla from the 1960s last night.

Was a slow build up then a five minute fight scene at the end.

They just did a movie for it.  Not sure if there is a season 3 planned, but there's that to check out when its available.

Finally got around to watching the first (of the new series) Jumanji and I'm basically with what seemed like the consensus at the time was, which was that the movie was more entertaining than most people expected.  I think it was the trailer, but it just sorta gave off like a more family friendly film, like...Spy Kids, or that Brendan Frasier Journey to the Center of the Earth movie, I don't know, but I think it just didn't come across right to me, but I had fun with the movie.  I'll probably rent the sequel when it comes out next week.

Zombieland: Double Tap- More of the same which is honestly good for this movie only complaint is that they tried to do the same style slo-mo opening as last time only with Master of Puppets this time and to me... The song is too fast to be paired with slowed-down footage

RAMBO Last Blood- brutal deaths, good movie. probably going to get some shit for this, but this is the first Rambo movie I've seen. But now I want to see the others because of this movie.
