Can you read Japanese?
« on: January 19, 2013, 12:27:40 am »
I need someone to help me. You see, I can't read or speak Japanese.  I know this is a surprise to all of you since I am from Northern Arkansas.
You see I've wondered for years what the characters at the top of the screen on Kung Fu for the NES mean. Seriously, I've been playing the game for 25 years and still don't know.
I assume they are Japanese characters. They may just be jibberish put there because Americans are stupid. Someone throw me a bone.

If you are talking about the Kanji above, surprisingly enough, it means... kung fu.

They're numbers. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on.

I never noticed them until now. :P

Edit: sin2beta, he meant Kung Fu, not Yie Ar Kung Fu. ;)

That's a relief and a let down. I was hoping it was the meaning of life or something. The mystery was better than just numbers.
