Screencast software
« on: December 10, 2011, 12:04:10 pm »
Does anyone know of any good (free) screencast software for Windows? I'm looking to create a brief video to show on new user pages. When a new user signs up they are greeted by an empty collection and little instruction. I think having a short intro video would help people get going.

This appears to be just what I want although the framerate leaves something to be desired. Working through the settings to see if I can improve it a bit.

I'll try looking for something else then just in case this one doesn't work for you.

Camtasia is a popular one... it's not free, but there's a 30-day trial:

Also found a nifty one that works in your browser (it seems to work well as far as framerate goes):

xsplit broadcaster?

People use it to stream starcraft at high quality and framerate. You can save the video in your computer instead of broadcasting it. i use xsplit to stream and it works like a charm.
