Speed run competitions of Super Mario Bros. or RC Pro-AM, Super Off Road or just about any NES four Score compatable game.

I second this! Great 4 player game.

Also:

Burnout 3 xbox (crash party)
Burnout Revenge xbox (crash party)
Burnout Paradise PS3 (Party Pack)

Depending on the group the karaoke Revolution games for XBox can be pretty good and provide good blackmail fodder. ;)

Guitar Hero/Rock Band was always good for me and the games and equipment are dirt cheap now.

Monkey Ball( mostly MKB 2) has some great party games, but stay away from the ones in banana blitz, most mario kart games, wii sports/wii sports resort for a limited time( to draw that older demographic if they want in), super smash bros series. You Don't Know Jack, and Fusion Frenzy. That's all I can think of at the moment.

Hell yeah. Many an hour was wasted staying up late at a friend's house playing No Mercy ladder matches lol.
