Yeah, it's probably best to play Chrono Trigger first, because it is such a great game, and it will stem a better appreciation for Cross. But I think you could play Chrono Cross first too and not miss out on much :) Chrono Cross was never developed as a "direct" sequel to Chrono Trigger, so the games are pretty separated.

From Masato Kato (Wrote both of the games)
Quote
"Accordingly, Chrono Cross is not Chrono Trigger 2. It doesn't simply follow on from Trigger, but is another, different Chrono that interlaces with Trigger."

Also, if you want to get really fancy, you can check out Radical Dreamers. It's only available via emulation and such, but it acts as a segue from Trigger to Cross.

Beaten:
??/?? - Super Smash Brothers (3DS/Wii U) (I'm going to consider that unlocking all characters and clearing all game modes is beating it...? Unlocking all trophies and challenges would be 100%-ing it.)
01/?? - Hyrule Warriors (Wii U)
02/15 - The Legend of Zelda (3DS virtual console)
02/22 - Link's Awakening (GB)
03/14 - Minish Cap (3DS virtual console)
03/28 - Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)
03/?? - Mousecraft (PS4)
04/24 - Persona 4: Golden (Vita)
04/26 - Tearaway (Vita)
05/24 - Touch My Katamari (Vita)
06/13 - The Playroom (PS4)
06/22 - Splatoon (Wii U)
06/29 - Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box (DS)
06/29 - Book of Spells (PS3)
07/15 - Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition (PS4)
10/17 - Pokémon: Alpha Sapphire (3DS)
10/27 - Costume Quest 2 (PS4)
11/01 - Tearaway Unfolded (PS4)
11/28 - Sword Art Online: Lost Song (Vita)
12/27 - Eternal Sonata (PS3)
12/27 - Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (DS)

Updated my list; I'm now sitting at 21 completed games this year, which is way better than anything I've ever done! I'm pretty proud of how it went  :) And I still got 3 days to try and beat another one  :P

Everyone get ready to gear it up for next year! I'm hoping next year will be even better than this!

I wasn't really active on the forum most of this year, but I intend on tracking this better next year.  I'm sure there are a bunch of games I played this year that I don't remember playing/beating.

I've got quite the stack of backlog that I plan to burn through next year.  I'm piling up the queue and once I finish Rise of the Tomb Raider, I'll dig into it.  I expect Rise of the Tomb Raider will be the first title I beat next year.  I doubt I'll beat it before Friday.

I started a couple of games after Christmas, so I'm sure I'll be off to a solid start by the time the New Year arrives.

I beat Eternal Sonata with my brother 2 days ago, and then I beat Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. I just beat the story to Persona 4: Dancing All Night. I'm on a roll, so I'm going to go for Fat Princess Adventures tonight too  8)

Man, looking at all these lists puts me to shame AND gets me pumped for 2016!
As dangerous as a stampede of cattle...and almost as smart.

Amen brother!

I'm in the middle of a game I will surely beat sometime early on in 2016, and have at least 3 other shorter games that I want to play that I'm holding off until after the new year to play.

Updated my list on page 1.

I played 72 games total in 2015. My list is complete with my thoughts on the games.

Completed 9 of them. Several are not "beatable" in the typical sense (Dr. Mario, Etc.)

I should probably make it a goal for 2016 to play fewer games and complete more of the ones I do play. :)
