n64 water damaged cart
« on: September 30, 2015, 02:00:58 pm »
I have a N64 cart that the board for it is water damaged and no longer plays. The previous owner must have accidentally poured grape soda on it (it still smells of it and ive had it almost 2 months now)

Is there any way to rejuvenate the cart or is water damage fatal to it?

I'll give ya this link. Give the cart a once over with this method and see if it starts working? Not much else I can tell ya other than good luck.

Take the game apart and try wiping it down with alcohol. Air dry, then try it out.

As a former janitor, you will be amazed what kind of damage sugar can cause, especially when its wet. So like said above, use alcohol and scrub hard, you want to get all that crap off.

Wet sugar can eat through wax on flooring, so an old cart, I can see it just doing pretty good damage on that.

My good luck charm seems to be Brasso. Works wonders on contacts in ways that alcohol just can't. For best results, disassemble the cart while cleaning.
