Favorite Pseudo-3D Games?
« on: June 01, 2016, 07:24:32 pm »
In the 80s and early 90s, 3D graphics were tough to pull off for a lot of the consoles and arcade hardware of the time. So a lot of games used tricks to make it feel like it was 3D like scaling graphics, isometric graphics, or Mode-7 graphics. Games like Space Harrier, Landstalker, F-Zero, and Rad Racer used tricks like this.

What were some of the best games to successfully pull this off and provide a great 3D experience, despite it not actually being 3D; in your opinion?

Outrunners, Power Drift, Cool Riders, Jurassic Park Arcade, Night Striker, After Burner, Super Chase, GunBuster

Galactic Storm also does it well, but has some framerate problems on some stages.

Well everything in that one is 2d, except for the cars, which are polygons. The original arcade release called Rad Mobile ( Sega System 32) is completely 2d.
