NEWS: Forum Overhaul
« on: March 13, 2012, 09:24:54 pm »
Hey all,

If you are seeing this, it means that my forum conversion was successful! I've spent the last few night manually writing some code to convert the site over to a more advanced forum system. This new system will give us more flexibility to grow as well as sticks to some of the more traditional forum features.

So far the only thing that hasn't made the conversion were the Private Messages. Still working on this.

Let me know if you have any issues. I'll be spending the rest of the night working out the bugs. :)

Thanks and enjoy!

Saving all of the users, all of the topics and threads, but missing the PM's I still consider this full of win.

Yay!

I am noticing a few cache errors. If you encounter a page that starts with 'Warning' and contains a bunch of gibberish after it, just refresh. I'm looking into it.

Yup, hit one, but a quick refresh and it went away.

Site is much improved on my iPhone, too.

I seem to have lost access to the staff forum.

Yep I'm working on that.

In the meantime, the cache issue has been resolved.

Very sexy new look to the forum. I like the feel of this a lot more than the last one.

Just in case anyone else had the same problem I did where you couldn't log in to the forum just log out and then log in again and you'll be logged into the forum again.

One oddity that I just noticed is that after I posted it took me back to the main page and not back to my message or the thread.

Yeah, worked for me *thumbs up*

I'm disappointed in the new forum... Where's the free cake?? I kid, I kid, good stuff.

*Edit*
I guess the post count only counts new posts.

I could be wrong but does it seem like there have been threads lost from the General forum?

Maybe I'm just surprised that there have been no postings since the 3rd

hmm I'll look into this.

EDIT: and I did. No threads lost. Just slow activity in there.
