Recently got my PS3 out of the shop.
« on: September 19, 2016, 06:04:12 pm »
I don't know if any of you remember but about a month back and friend of mine gave me a broken PS3 for free. So a few weeks later and 30 dollars poorer, it works like a dream and has a bigger hard drive on it. I spent most of the night downloading my Capcom Humble Bundle I brought the other day. This is the first Sony home system I've brought since the PS2 many many years ago. I have a handful of games but I wanted to ask the community what a good game for this system is? I'll play anything if it's fun or the price is right. Thanks in advance guys.

Dark Souls
Amazingly compelling adventure/action game. Still great fun, even with the sequels around.

Dragon's Crown
If you like old school brawlers like Golden Axe, this is a true treat to play.

Valkyria Chronicles
With occasionally hammy melodrama, it's completely unique and fun strategy game.

Way of the Samurai 3
If you've ever seen the movie Yojimbo (or A Fistful of Dollars, for that matter), this is essentially the video game series of that. You're a nameless samurai whose actions can greatly affect the outcome of a town over the course several days. Do you join a faction, do you help people in need, or do you become a psychotic killer? It's got bad reviews from people who seem to think it's supposed to be a Grand Theft Auto clone, but that's missing the idea entirely.

If you're an RPG fan, then you have a treasure trove of stuff to potentially to get into. I'll list a few of my favorites.

Demon's Souls
Atelier Totori
Atelier Meruru
Atelier Ayesha
Atelier Shallie
Tales of Graces f
Tales of Xillia
Tales of Xillia 2
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles

Some great games are also available on the 360, but in case you wanted to give your new toy some more attention you could check out:

Dark Souls
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Lightning Returns

The only games that ever get played on our PS3 are GTA V by my family and Bayonetta by me. I highly recommend you get Bayonetta, but for Xbox 360 if you can find it. Otherwise, while others tend to disagree, I still think the PS3 version is great as well.

Well thank you guys. I did some research and picked up a few of your suggestions. I was going to play Ratchet and Clank Future trilogy the other night but I got sidetracked playing Okami. I forgot how much I loved that game but that intro with all that text  :o.

Urhh Catherine an RPG? Did you want to replay Catherine real quick, or do a Google search on 'role-playing game' .

I'll second a couple of these that I've played:
Uncharted
ModNation Racers
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time (Tools of Destruction was pretty good too)
